Chapter 3724 Doomsday (Seventeen)
What was supposed to be a rallying cry for battle turned into a symphony of victory. With the enemy completely unprepared, Black Bolt's roar stunned everyone.
By the time the Inhuman soldiers rushed over, the three unfortunate parachutists were already unconscious. Black Bolt breathed a sigh of relief, then quickly waved his hand and said, "Quick! Drag them into the base!"
Before he even returned to base, he had already taken out his communicator and contacted Earth. "Hello? Director Zheng? We've captured them, three in total. When are you coming to pick them up? Okay, I understand."
After hanging up the phone, Black Bolt said, "Put the three of them in the safe room first, and don't let them wake up. S.M.A.R. will come to pick them up later."
Meanwhile, on Earth, in the temporary operations command office, Nick was slamming his fist on the table, arguing with Zheng Xian, the director of the S.H.I.E.L.D. Bureau. He said, "We agreed to split it 50/50, but now there are three people, and you want two! Why?!"
Zheng Xian picked at his ear and said, "I don't have any Congress holding me back. People who come to me won't be locked up in District 52 and never see the light of day."
“You…” Nick was speechless for a rare moment. He sighed and said, “Fine, you can take all three.”
"Why are you being so generous?"
“What you said makes some sense. Even if I bring them back, they will find all sorts of ways to take them away and lock them up somewhere, waiting for them to escape and cause trouble again someday. It would be better if you took them with you, and after you finish the research, you can share some of the results with me.”
"You're dreaming! You want to do nothing and just eat what's served to you?"
"You have to understand me too," Nick slumped into a chair and started wailing. "Everyone's dragging me down, I can't help it. S.H.I.E.L.D. and S.M.A.S.A. are like family, we're practically brothers..."
Zheng Xian was clearly disgusted by him, so he waved his hand and said, "I can agree to your plan for now, but I can't make any decisions about what we can research and what we can give in the end."
Meanwhile, in the office next door, the Avengers were also having a heated discussion. Natasha spoke first: "What about our moon? Are we just going to abandon it like that?"
“How could that be?” Steve said. “We can’t do without the moon no matter what. We just need a strategic foothold in this system, and the moon is the best choice. Don’t worry about the tides; my old comrade Namor McKenzie will lead the Atlanteans to temporarily control the oceans.”
“That’s good.” Natasha nodded and said, “But the other two great empires will probably send troops here. There’s no protection on the moon. What if they want to treat it like an easy target?”
"An easy target?" Jarvis chuckled, then shook his head as if he'd thought of something, saying, "Who's the easy target is still up in the air."
On the moon, in the Inhumans' base, Star-Lord Peter leaned against the bed, his face somewhat pale. Rocket Raccoon was pouring ice cubes into a glass, then filling it to the brim with sweet soda, handing it to Star-Lord and saying, "Serves you right for insisting on being strong, now look what happened!"
Star-Lord gulped down a few mouthfuls of soda, let out a long breath, his complexion improved, and shook his head, saying, "I've never really had any special skills. I've been in interstellar space for so many years, but I haven't made a name for myself, much less made any contributions to Earth like others. Now that I'm finally being of some use, I can't let myself down."
Gamora sat to the side, fiddling with the darts in her hand, and then said, "You should understand that we care more about your health than your pride. Are you alright?"
“I never thought you’d say something like that, Gamora. You’re quite something.” Star-Lord grinned. “You think I’d say I’m much better thanks to your concern? Bullshit! My head is full of that rubbish! I’m fucking going crazy!”
"What was that called again?" Rocket Raccoon scratched his head and said, "Rationality? Your rationality is almost gone! Because you're always whispering with those mystical beings, they're driving you crazy."
Star-Lord looked utterly dejected: "I don't know why I'm so lucky with them. It's like they've got their eyes on me. I don't even need to use any magic; I can just think about them and get a response. I never thought that could be an advantage. Anyway, I've given everything I got from them to Jarvis. Whether it works or not is up to him."
Meanwhile, a consensus was finally reached in the Interstellar Council's meeting room. The Supreme Intelligence said, "In short, we need to send reinforcements to the Feathered Galaxy to put enough pressure on them. If we can force them to make a mistake, that would be ideal; if not, at least we can curb their arrogance."
"I refuse to believe it!" Lilandra raised her voice. "The three strongest empires in the universe, working together, can't handle a tiny Earth? I'm going back to mobilize troops right away!"
“I’m not as optimistic as you are,” said the Emperor of the Skrull Empire. “Those humans are completely insane, utterly insane. Doesn’t your country have a tradition of ‘not arguing with madmen’?”
"It's not your capital that's being attacked, so of course you can stand here and talk like it's nothing!" Lilandra roared at him. "Wait until they attack your home, then let's see if you're still able to stand here and make sarcastic remarks!"
“You’ve gone mad too,” Emperor Skrull said calmly. “You carbon-based lifeforms should probably get your brains checked first.”
Lilandra ignored him and stormed out of the meeting room. The Supreme Intelligence looked at the Skrull Emperor and said, "Didn't you ever consider taking advantage of their weakened state...?"
“You know this is impossible,” Emperor Skrull interrupted. “The rules of the universe favor carbon-based life forms, and disrupting the balance rashly is not a good thing. Besides, we haven’t done anything yet, and Earth is already dragging us down with us. If humanity and the Shi’ar Empire fight to the death, they will definitely think we are one of the culprits in destroying Earth. Do you really expect them to have any sense of right and wrong?”
After humanity's frenzy, the three great empires finally began to take action. The Shi'ar Empire began redeploying troops to defend its territory, while the Kree and Skrull Empires also began sending reinforcements to the Shi'ar Empire via its teleportation point near the Feathered Star System.
Without a doubt, all eyes in the galaxy are on this, and all civilizations are watching the situation in the Mengyu Galaxy.
Keep in mind, these are three great empires. This is probably the first time three great empires have united against something. And the one they're dealing with—most civilizations don't even know how to describe it; if they had to, it's probably a case of "birds of a feather flock together." Asgard, look at the army you've brought! Is there even one sane being in the Nine Realms?!
You said it wasn't some barren, desolate place; at least half of the nine kingdoms had pretty good environments. Asgard, Vanaheim, and Midgard would be paradises in the universe. With such beautiful and fertile lands, how come no good people have emerged from them?
Many civilizations held a pessimistic view. They believed that Earth could maximize its gains by fleeing now. After all, they didn't actually have any real enmity with the three great empires. Even if the Shi'ar were wrong to activate their shields while eating, hadn't Earth already killed them? If they backed down and returned to the Nine Realms, the three great empires wouldn't launch a full-scale attack; but if they didn't flee and were trapped here, they'd be trapped forever.
The Shi'ar Empire was caught off guard, but that doesn't mean that's all they're capable of. Their nearest military district and resource base aren't too far away. In just a few hours, tens of millions of gravitational traps had completely surrounded the star system.
This means that nothing can leave the galaxy by physical means; in other words, it cannot fly out directly. The only way to leave now is through dimensional travel.
However, the Kree Empire's anti-warp device then entered the scene, completely covering the Feathered Galaxy as well. This meant that faster-than-light engines within the device's range would no longer be able to perform dimensional jumps. Then came the Skrull Empire's space-locking device. Once space was locked, all wormholes and portals would immediately become ineffective.
Everyone in the three great empires assumed that simply setting up these barriers would lead to constant harassment from humanity. But that wasn't the case. To the astonishment of the three great empires, Earth was simply watching silently as they implemented these containment measures.
They were indeed just looking, because their eyesight was quite good. They could see the roof of the makeshift command post on Earth's surface, converted from a space station that had landed in the Pacific Ocean. The group of mutants and superheroes were just looking up from there.
They weren't ordinary people; many of them could sense what was happening through changes in the universe's magnetic field. But they neither stopped nor disturbed them; they simply stood there quietly watching.
Now, virtually all escape routes are blocked. Trying to use the thrust of a faster-than-light engine to fly directly out of the galaxy would result in hitting a gravitational trap; dimensional travel and portals are also impossible; even Magneto can't open a wormhole. It's fair to say that Earth is now trapped, and those superhumans can't escape.
Following this, the main forces of the three great empires began to enter the fray. Note that the gravity traps were set on the outer edge of the galaxy, but the main forces are now entering the galaxy's interior, heading towards Earth.
The gravitational traps surrounding the galaxy aren't completely blocked off; there are pathways. It's a bit like landmines; only the person who laid them knows which path leads through the minefield. Therefore, this path is only accessible to the three great empires; it's inaccessible to Earth.
When they passed through the gravitational trap region and entered the interior of the star system, the first thing they saw was not Earth, but a lonely moon. The main warships of the Shi'ar Empire were all far away from this small satellite, as if trembling in fear from afar.
Lilandra returned to the royal palace on Fierce Feather Star. Looking at the current situation in the system, he slammed his fist on the table and shouted, "Take care of that damned satellite first! Charge the main cannons of both god-class capital ships! I refuse to believe it!"
