Chapter 3725 Doomsday (8)

Chapter 3725 Doomsday (18)

"I have a bad feeling about this," Emperor Skrull said on the channel. "I know Earth; they won't abandon the moon so easily. If they've planted any explosives inside, it could cause considerable damage."

"I don't care!" Lilandra said. "Whatever's in there, as long as the explosive yield is high enough, destroy it all! Prepare to fire!"

Emperor Skrull said nothing more. The High Intelligence offered no advice from beginning to end. They, too, wanted to use the Shi'ar Empire to gauge humanity's true strength and figure out what kind of trouble they were up to.

"General Witus! Pass down the order: charge all the main guns of the dual-god-class capital ships to the highest level and fire simultaneously. Destroy this satellite in front of us immediately!"

"Yes, Your Majesty. Sizzle... sizzle..."

"Hello? General? Is there interference on your end? Why is there a static sound? Hello???"

The four dual-god-class capital ships slowly approached the moon, turned around, and exposed their main gun muzzles. A dazzling light illuminated the scene as the main guns gradually charged to their maximum power level.

Three, two, one...

A sudden burst of light shone. But the small satellite, surrounded by the massive warship, was not destroyed as everyone had expected. Screams echoed around the moon.

The moment the main guns fired, the four capital ships swiftly changed course, aiming at the surrounding troops. Four shots landed, and the surrounding area was filled with cries of agony.

"Professor X!" Emperor Skrull practically slammed his fist on the table. "It's not that simple after all! This guy has controlled the brainwaves of the Shi'ar... no, wait, what's going on?"

"The crew members on the four capital ships are committing suicide," the Supreme Intelligence said. "Not Professor X. I specifically deployed brainwave detection and shielding devices. There was no abnormal brainwave activity on either Earth or the Moon. On the contrary..."

"On the contrary, what?"

“When we first arrived, something seemed off about one of the warships. The Shi'ar crew members inside were exhibiting abnormal brainwave activity.”

"What kind of anomaly?"

"I can't describe it, it was extremely chaotic and bizarre. It was like we had been subjected to some kind of mental attack. And almost everyone mutated in an instant."

"Mutated?" Emperor Skrull frowned deeply. "Could it be that the Earthlings released some kind of virus inside? But how did they get through the shields and detection systems?"

"They probably won't need to get through the shields and detection systems..."

As soon as the Supreme Intelligence finished speaking, Emperor Skrull heard his subordinates report: "Your Majesty, abnormal electrical signal activity has been detected near the Shia Empire fleet. It is suspected that someone has hacked into the Shia Empire fleet's command system, possibly a powerful electronic life form."

“Perhaps it’s that Steel Demon.” Emperor Skrull pondered for a moment, then added with some doubt, “But how could an electronic intrusion cause all the crew members to commit suicide?”

"Your Majesty!" another communications officer rushed in. "The Shi'ar Empire ship just transmitted a signal; it seems to be an emergency black box video transmission. Shall we play it?"

"Are you crazy?" another person rushed up and said, "In case there is any pollution... Your Majesty, let us take a look first, and if there are no problems, then we can ask you to take a look."

Emperor Skrull did not refuse. To be honest, they were genuinely afraid of the ever-evolving and bizarre methods humans employed.

The two messengers glanced at the video, then handed it to Emperor Skrull and said, "We just watched it. There's nothing unusual in the video; it only shows people from the Shia Empire."

Because of their mechanization, the Skrull and Kree Empires could not possibly have traitors. Just as a gear in a machine has no reason to betray its screw. So the Skrull Emperor took the video and played it.

In the video, several commanders of the Shi'ar Empire are discussing issues related to the moon. Then they suddenly look up, as if some kind of alarm has sounded. Immediately afterwards, strange text appears on their screens, and certain sounds begin to broadcast.

Then, as if struck by a club, the Shi'ar commanders clutched their heads and collapsed to the ground, writhing in agony. Blood gushed from their eyes and ears. Some suffered ruptured eyeballs, others had their brains spurt from their ears, and still others screamed hysterically. Soon enough, they were all lying on the ground.

Even the Skrull Emperor, a man of many experiences, felt a chill run down his spine at this bizarre scene. But a glance at the two messengers revealed nothing unusual about them. He concluded that this was some kind of curse targeting the Shi'ar Empire.

He rewound the video slightly and examined the screen more closely. He discovered it was written in human language. The actions of the commanders also suggested they were translating.

Emperor Skrull also translated it. Most of the rest was just rambling nonsense; the only comprehensible phrase was "soul delivery."

The Supreme Intelligence had clearly received this signal as well. He was even more bewildered. The Skrull Emperor was at least half a carbon-based life form. The Supreme Intelligence, however, was purely electronic life. Again, electronic life and things like chaos are diametrically opposed and naturally antagonistic.

But the Supreme Intelligence clearly realized this was some kind of curse. Just as it was about to warn Lilandra, it saw a Shi'ar spaceship's main cannon begin charging. Then it fired a shot at its own side. Two other escort ships rammed the main ship like suicidal rams. Two more warships, positioned further to the side, darted wildly through space like madmen.

Clearly, the Shia Empire also intercepted this signal.

“This is a trap,” Emperor Skrull said in a somber tone. “They deliberately released this signal to spread the curse. However, I still don’t think it’s that simple. The Shiar people can be resurrected, so this won’t do them much damage. It will have some disruptive effect, but not enough to cause significant harm. Humanity must have ulterior motives.”

Everyone's attention was focused on the situation of the Shi'ar Empire. By the time they noticed something amiss on the moon, it was too late.

Without craters, the moon would be just an ordinary gray planet. But the varied craters give the moon's surface shades of color, making it look more beautiful, and also more eerie.

The observer responsible for watching the moon quietly admired the small satellite, recalling the introduction to the Earth-Moon system from his textbook. He sighed with regret. Perhaps he would never see such a beautiful satellite again.

After staring at the crater for a while, the observer was about to leave the telescope when he suddenly noticed that the crater on his left seemed to have moved slightly.

He looked closely, and then instantly felt a chill run down his spine. It wasn't just the crater that moved; all the uneven impact craters began to twist and sway, like clumps of gray silt. He zoomed in, trying to see clearly what was moving. He discovered that the surging, dark gray things were human heads.

"Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah!!!!!!"

"Ugh, stop yelling!" A burly man in armor knocked impatiently on the observation post door. "What's wrong? Did you get electrocuted again?... Agri, Agri??"

Realizing something was wrong, the big man quickly pulled the emergency button and opened the door. He then saw that his former colleague's head was gone, leaving only a bloody body and a blood-stained cervical vertebra.

He slowly walked over, as if he saw his colleague observing something through a telescope. He moved closer, almost unconsciously, and on the telescope screen, he saw a churning ocean of mud on the moon. Among countless heads bobbing with the current, Agri's head slowly rose, staring at him with empty, numb eyes.

"Well!!!!"

When the Supreme Intelligence and the Skrull Emperor discovered the problem, their respective countries already had dozens more headless corpses. The Skrull Emperor couldn't help but yell, "What were you doing?! Such a small satellite malfunctioned, and you couldn't even report it in time?"

“I’m sorry, Your Majesty…” a researcher stepped forward and said, “It seems that the curse of the Shi'ar Empire has attracted something. It looks somewhat like a demon god, and it seems to hunt down the heads of intelligent life. We’re temporarily calling it the ‘Headhunter.’ We are preparing to try to eliminate it with a global coverage weapon…”

"Hurry!" Emperor Skrull said. "Since it's a demon god, let's use the methods we've used to deal with demon gods. Let's get rid of this thing first!"

Soon, a triangular bomb emitting a faint blue light was dropped onto the lunar surface. A powerful electromagnetic storm swept across the entire satellite, raging for over a dozen times before finally subsiding. Under the influence of the extremely high temperatures, the lunar surface almost crystallized. However, the ocean of the crest did not disappear.

It was as if that thing didn't exist in reality at all, but was merely a collective hallucination. After that, all physical methods were ineffective. Even when the Shi'ar Empire sent people to use magic, they were completely unable to remove it.

Just then, strange phenomena also occurred on Earth.

"I bet you're all very curious." A line of large characters appeared on the surface of the magical defense network. "Please allow me to introduce you to Hydra, the Thousand-Faced Moon. An Outer God who dwells deep within the stars. You might think he's one of the cosmic demons. But no, that's completely different. If we're talking about which demon in our universe is most closely related to him, I think it would be the infamous 'Eye Demon.' You probably understand his uniqueness better."

Emperor Skrull, upon seeing the writing on the Earth's surface, immediately summoned information on the Beholders. He then discovered that the Beholders were indeed different from ordinary demons; they seemed to exist in another dimension, and this place was merely a projection of them. This did not prevent them from wielding their power, but no counterattack could affect their true forms.

Then another line of text appeared on Earth: "You must be wondering how to deal with the Hydra. I regret to inform you that the Hydra will appear when enough sacrifices are made. And it will never leave without a sufficient number of heads. Have fun ^_^"
