Chapter 4107 MU Superbody Major Event (184)
Chapter 4107 MU: The Superbody Incident (184)
Countless dark forces from the origin of the DC universe and dream forces from the origin of the Marvel universe, along with the power of Nightmare Darkseid that had previously escaped, were all poured into Darkseid's body, allowing him to break through the barrier of the single universe almost instantly and become a brand new existence in the multiverse—"Nightmare Darkseid".
Because it has been upgraded to the multiverse level, its origin story has changed accordingly. At the same time, it has merged with its counterparts in other single universes in the multiverse. All other Darkseids have become its projections, and its life form has changed from carbon-based life to something similar to rules, becoming the root of the multiverse nightmare.
Of course, because the Dream Realm of DC possesses immense power and the Dream God is strong enough, even Darkseid, at the multiverse level, still cannot rule the Dream Realm. Nightmare Power is a new force, a fusion of Dream Power and the dark power of the world's origin. It has corrupted a Nightmare Realm within the Dream Realm, which, while still part of the Dream Realm, possesses a degree of independence and is solely governed by Nightmare Darkseid.
Before heading to the Dream Dimension with Jack and the agents to find Doctor Strange's Dream Power, Greed first targeted the homeless Darkseid. Of course, it was under the guise of Mephisto.
“The opportunity has come, Your Majesty,” he said, standing on the desolate planet and looking at Darkseid.
“Do you really have a way to help me advance further?” Darkseid turned to Schiller and said, “Apokolips has been destroyed. It would be difficult for me to even return to my original level. You better not be trying to mess with me.”
"Of course not. Whether Apokolips exists or not will not affect my plan," Schiller said with a smile. "The method is simple: as long as you have enough power to ascend to a single universe, all problems will be solved."
"Where did this immense power come from?" Darkseid seemed even more convinced that Schiller was playing a trick on him. He said, "Who would give me so much power for no reason?"
Schiller shook his head and said, "The strength of a force does not lie in its quantity, but in whether it is close enough to the origin of the universe. As long as the level of power is high enough, it does not require much power to send you to a single universe."
"Then where can such advanced power be found?"
"You don't need to worry about that. You just need to show up where I tell you to, and everything will fall into place on its own."
How do I know if you're lying to me?
"What else do you have to lie about? Your Majesty, you have lost the Apocalypse Domain and are practically all alone. If you cannot reverse the situation in this war, you may never be able to return to your homeland. For this, it is worth fighting to the death, isn't it?"
Darkseid fell silent, and Schiller didn't press him any further, knowing that Darkseid would make the right choice.
The next step was to persuade Doctor Strange to use the power of dreams. When he learned that Schiller was going to give Darkseid the power of dreams and another primal force of the universe, he really thought he was crazy.
“You absolutely cannot convince me, Schiller! I know Darkseid is from another world, but isn’t he on our side now? If you make him such a powerful being, wouldn’t we be the first to suffer? This is too risky, I will not agree to it!”
“If we don’t give him enough power, we will indeed be in danger; but if we give him too much power, we will be safer. Do you know why?”
Doctor Strange looked at him with a puzzled expression.
“If he weren’t very strong, he would choose to deal with us or Batman, because he couldn’t handle both of them at the same time; but if he were very strong, he would definitely want to take down both of us at the same time. That’s why I chose Darkseid. He is very ambitious, and once he has the power to match it, he will never back down, but will definitely be proactive and strive for the greatest benefit for himself.”
"Even if the two of us combine our strength, we might not be able to defeat him. Don't forget that there are only some remnants left in the universe..."
“This is what I wanted,” Schiller laughed. “Don’t forget, are all the superheroes from the multiverse who are here right now all of them?”
“Of course not,” Doctor Strange answered instinctively, “far from it. I’m the only one from our universe who’s come here… Wait, you’re not thinking of dragging them all down with you, are you?!”
“That’s right. If Darkseid fails to break through the barrier of a single universe, then dealing with him is a matter for people in our universe; but if he becomes multiverse-level, then it will be a multiverse-level catastrophe, and in that multiverse, who can remain unscathed?”
Doctor Strange, wielding the power of dreams, couldn't help but curse, "You single-handedly created a multiverse-level catastrophe, just to drag them all down with you? What good does that do you?!"
"Batman experienced the Ultron invasion, which can be considered a multiverse catastrophe, so of course we need to have one too, otherwise how can we see where the problem lies?"
Doctor Strange took a deep breath and said, "But...but...this is too dangerous. Darkseid, created from two primal forces, will definitely be much stronger than Ultron."
“But our team is much stronger than Batman’s back then,” Schiller shrugged. “Not to mention Franklin and the other mutants, Batman has the Manhattan Batman and Lucy. If he doesn’t have a strong opponent, all of Batman’s efforts will be in vain.”
"No, I still think this is too risky. If things go wrong, I'll be the sinner of the entire universe!"
“But if we succeed, you’ll be a hero.” Schiller took two more steps closer, looking him into the eyes. “The more individual universes are dragged into this, the wider the war will spread, and the more indispensable this war will be to you. Because Darkseid’s dream power comes from you, you understand him best and are the easiest to deal with. The entire multiverse is counting on you. This is a great opportunity to elevate your universe’s status in the multiverse. Do you want to let it slip away so easily?”
"I have no desire to be the leader of the multiverse!" Doctor Strange, the Dream Force, finally revealed his true thoughts. He said, "To highlight my status by creating a catastrophe that plunges the entire multiverse into crisis is not the act of a hero. One who is not upright cannot bear power, and everything gained in this way is meaningless. Sooner or later, I will pay the price for it."
“Very well, if you don’t agree, I’ll go find Nightmare.” Schiller finally revealed his true colors, saying, “At that point, Nightmare will absolutely not help us fight Darkseid; he might even collude with him and become his most powerful ally, causing even greater damage to the multiverse…”
"Then why don't you just not do this?!"
“Sorry, no.” Schiller’s gaze gradually turned cold. He said, “Stephen, you have no choice. Either you do it and succeed, receiving cheers from thousands; or I go after Nightmare, and once he gets Darkseid’s support, guess who he’ll retaliate against first?”
Doctor Strange felt a chill run down his spine. He couldn't help but say, "You should have stayed in that mental hospital for a few more years and had your head checked. You're a complete madman!"
Schiller laughed again, stretched out his arms to him, and said, "Welcome to the ranks of the madmen. Come on, why not?"
The power of darkness and the power of dreams intertwined in Doctor Strange's eyes. He gritted his teeth, channeling his last ounce of strength into Darkseid until he was almost completely exhausted, letting his body plummet. He pierced through layers of dream veils, finally landing on a calm body of water. Schiller sat on a duck-shaped swimming ring, chin in hand, smiling at him. In the distance stretched a sprawling jungle of water slides.
"Are you satisfied?" Doctor Strange asked, wielding the power of dreams.
"It's still early days. Now, let's see how Batman plays his cards."
The moment Darkseid ascended, the main universe's Batman understood Greed's plan. This guy never expected anything from Nightmarefall, or rather, his target wasn't the three great empires of this universe—they were insignificant to him. He drew his sword, aiming directly at the Marvel multiverse.
At the same time, he was forcing himself to take action. Darkseid was on his side, and if he caused any harm in the multiverse, he would be held responsible, and it would be difficult for him to deal with the superheroes on this side in the future. Even if it was for his own benefit, he had to stop Darkseid.
The main universe's Batman gently closed his eyes and sighed. Although he had long anticipated a day when he would clash with greed, he still found it difficult to remain calm when the day actually arrived. The deafening roar of the out-of-control engine was something Batman couldn't accurately describe—like a volcano suddenly erupting from the deep sea, everything surging in the silence; or like a hymn that had lingered for millennia on a church dome, trembling as the soul departs the body.
Fortunately, he was well-prepared for this war. The main universe Batman grabbed his communicator and headed out of his office, just as he ran into Injustice Superman, who had rushed back. He said, "The person was rescued, but Batwoman sacrificed herself. Ask them for details."
The main universe Batman wasn't surprised by the outcome. He nodded and quickly went to the hospital. Several Batmen from the Dark Multiverse were injured to varying degrees, and they all remained silent.
"Get some rest," said the main universe Batman.
“We have something to tell you,” the mechanical Batman said. “To be precise, someone wants to contact you through us.”
On the other side, Bruce had narrowly escaped death. Had he been any slower, he and his power would have been sucked into the dream dimension and pulverized. Even if he could be resurrected in the Battle Realm, he didn't want to die again.
Clark found him on a planet not far from the dimensional portal. The moment he saw Bruce, he breathed a sigh of relief and said, "Thank goodness you're alright. Diana is dead, Hal is seriously injured, and Ron has already returned to the Battle Realm. Now it's just the two of us and Barry."
Is he alright?
“I kept him hidden in the Speed Force, and so far he’s fine,” Clark said. “Diana was too close to the center of the explosion and couldn’t escape; Hal used a barrier to block it, but then got stabbed by Nightmare’s Dream; Ron was mentally corrupted and chose to commit suicide. But according to them, death is painless, only a momentary pain, and then you return to the Battle Realm.”
"That's alright." Bruce breathed a sigh of relief and got up from the ground. He was indeed a bit disheveled. Although he managed to spread his wings at the last moment, breaking free from the suction had taken too much effort, and he was basically out of energy.
Clark flew with him, and on their way back they encountered Arkham Batman and two Constantines. They hadn't participated in the main battle, so they were unharmed; they had only come after witnessing the events unfolding here.
“Give us a ride, please,” Clark said. “I’m a bit too tired to fly either.”
"Hey, you guys are here!" another voice came from behind them. Turning around, they saw two clowns sitting in a truck, one was Jack, and the other was Joker Man. "Get in!"
Arkham Batman skillfully drove the Batmobile into the truck's cargo bed, and Clark flew in with Bruce. The door closed, and they flew towards the Dark Quadrant.
