Chapter 4109 MU Superbody Major Event (186)
Chapter 4109 MU: The Superbody Incident (186)
Just as Nick Fury and his crew had predicted, Darkseid's greatest enemy was the main universe's Batman. So, once he gained immense power and ascended to a higher level than a single universe, his first act was to cause trouble for the main universe's Batman. At this moment, Manhattan Batman and Lucy were already fighting Nightmare Darkseid.
That's right, only the two of them combined can withstand Nightmare Darkseid head-on. After all, Nightmare Darkseid also possesses two primal powers, and these two are well-integrated, making its physical and mental attacks formidable. As long as it possesses intelligence, it will inevitably be affected, making this battle quite difficult.
While the Manhattan Batman can use higher-dimensional suppression to deal with sorcerers, he's no match for Nightmare Darkseid. Darkseid is a multiverse-level being, beyond the reach of dimensions, especially given his Nightmare Domain. This domain doesn't belong to any single dimension and cannot be quantum-converted.
Fortunately, the life force of the superhuman could suppress the dark force, but he was helpless against the dream force. The two harassed each other with a combination of quantum attacks and life force attacks, but they were still unable to drive Nightmare Darkseid away.
Not to mention, the Nightmare Realm has been spreading in this direction, and it won't be long before it's completely enveloped. While Manhattan Batman and Lucy aren't afraid of him, there are still some ordinary heroes here, and it's time for them to leave.
“We still have to go to Earth,” Batman Arkham said. “The magical defense network is naturally able to counter all energy. Even if Darkseid expands the Nightmare Dimension to the entire universe, he may not be able to shake Earth’s magical defense network.”
“Of course I understand,” said the main universe Batman, “but we can’t leave now, we have to wait a little longer.”
“While it would be better to have them come to us, now is clearly not the time to worry about saving face,” the Adventure Batman advised. He assumed the main universe Batman wanted to assert his authority and therefore wanted the other side to come to them.
The Batman from the main universe shook his head and said, "We've brought in Dr. Pym from the main universe. He's working on deciphering the Pym Particles on a mysterious object. The experiment is at a critical juncture and we can't move it easily. We have to stay here for at least 10 hours."
“Ten hours shouldn’t be a problem,” Arkham Batman said, frowning. “After all, the Nightmare Realm isn’t spreading very quickly, so it shouldn’t be able to get here yet. But what exactly is that mysterious object for?”
“It’s unclear yet, but it’s definitely important,” said the main universe Batman. “It could be one of our most powerful weapons. Bruce!”
Bruce, who was sitting there, turned to look at him and said, "What?"
"Go and try to interfere with the dark power within Darkseid. That power was originally brought by you. If you can interfere with him, dealing with him later will be much easier."
Bruce didn't move. He simply shook his head and said, "Even if Barbatos came, it wouldn't make a difference. That thing has completely merged with the power of dreams, becoming a new primal force. I can no longer control it at all."
The main universe's Batman fell into deep thought. But then Bruce continued, "However, Barry can travel through the Nightmare Realm."
The main universe's Batman immediately looked at him. Bruce continued, "I've let him go. Although he can't do anything now, perhaps I can give him a hard time at a crucial moment."
The Batman of the main universe knows that Barry in Bruce's universe possesses a unique Speed Force, seemingly a fusion of the Speed Force and the Dark Force. Since both are fusions of Dark Force, there might be similarities and connections between them. Barry's lurking within the Nightmare Force might indeed play a crucial role.
After the meeting, Bruce went to the hospital room. Hal's face was still a little pale. He had also been badly injured in the explosion and barely survived, but his energy was almost completely depleted.
Bruce walked to his bedside and said somewhat seriously, "Are you sure you want to do this? I have a feeling..."
“We have to do this,” Hal said. “Whoever created Darkseid the Nightmare, he must want to escalate this war to the multiverse level. So it’s a good opportunity for us to elevate our status in the multiverse. After all, most of the others are dead, and it’s our turn to shine.”
“I don’t think it’s necessary to go to such lengths,” Bruce sighed. “It’s not that I’m unwilling to put in the effort, but no matter how hard our universe tries, we can’t possibly win against the main universe. And I don’t want the main universe’s Batman to know about our universe…”
“We can’t hide it from him,” Hal said. “He’ll find out sooner or later. If we do well in this war, then even if he finds out, he won’t be able to say anything. After all, it hasn’t stopped us from saving the world.”
Bruce sighed and said, "I understand that you're doing this for me. After all, if Brainiac is exposed, I'll be the one under the most pressure. You're all working so hard so that I won't get nagged by the main universe's Batman."
Hal laughed and said, "It's okay, you're not Batman anymore anyway, so you can just not hang out with them. You can go your own way, and he won't be able to find you even if he wants to."
“But he’ll tell the professor,” Bruce said, rolling his eyes.
"Let's not talk about that anymore. Have you figured out what that thing that was put on me before was?"
"The main universe Batman says they're still researching it. Because of this, we might have to delay our retreat by 10 hours."
"That's perfect. It would be much more difficult if we went to Earth. It could endanger ordinary people. It's much less dangerous here."
"Have you really thought this through? You..."
Hal didn't speak, just stared at Bruce. After a long while, Bruce sighed and said, "Alright, let's make our move tonight."
At night, the main universe's Batman certainly doesn't rest, but he also has a lot to do, such as helping Dr. Pym research that mysterious object, and he basically spends the whole night in the lab.
Bruce and Hal, taking advantage of the darkness, found the Lamp Furnace—the source of the seven lamps' power brought from Batman's own universe, representing the power of the Emotional Spectrum. They had already used up a significant portion, but had a little left.
Hal extracted the power and stored it in his lamp ring, the one that had been with him from the beginning. He gently touched the ring on his hand, looked at Bruce, and said, "Let's begin."
Bruce placed his hand on his ring as well. Then, a dense dark energy began to flow into the ring, intertwining and merging with the green light emanating from it. This mixed energy was then absorbed into Hal's body.
He let out a low groan of pain and collapsed to his knees. The intertwined green and black energy gradually filled his entire body. He seemed to be enduring immense suffering, his body convulsing. Bruce's hands trembled as he stepped forward, reaching out to help him, but Hal dodged him.
He gritted his teeth, circulating this terrifying energy again and again. The two forces collided constantly, triggering billions of explosions within his body every second. The pain was unimaginable, but Hal endured it all with his incredibly strong willpower.
Finally, the black and green began to merge, turning into a mysterious dark green. Meanwhile, Barbatos's image began to appear repeatedly in Hal's mind; his spirit seemed to connect to the dark realm, seeing the majestic body of the dark dragon, its wings that blotted out the sky, and the endless, surging black tide below.
The green-lighted Ion Shark emerged from behind him, its body gradually enveloped in dark green power. This power extended outwards, causing its back to bulge, limbs to sprout, spikes to grow from its head, and a pair of enormous black wings to grow from its back. It transformed from a shark into a dragon, becoming more ferocious and powerful.
Finally, the dark green light filled the entire space, even shooting out from the room and completely engulfing Hal's figure. After the light gradually faded, Hal was still Hal, but he had completely changed.
His battle robes, once entirely green, had turned a dark green, perfectly complementing the gold patterns. The same light shone in his eyes beneath his helmet, appearing even more chilling than his original green attire. The green lantern ring on his hand had also turned dark green, and the pattern was no longer the usual lantern design, but a new one unique to Hal—a symbol composed of the letters H and J.
This means that Hal is no longer the Green Lantern; he has completely broken free from the control of the Lantern Corps and become an independent Lantern. The power he wields is no longer just the power of the emotional spectrum, but also incorporates the dark power of the world's origin.
Hal, floating in mid-air, remained motionless. Suddenly, a pair of enormous wings, identical to Barbatos', unfurled from his back. He folded his wings and landed, gently clenching his fingers; the light of power receded, and the wings vanished.
Hal exhaled softly: "The power of emeralds..."
Bruce walked over from the edge of the room and said, "It worked?"
Hal nodded and said, "Yes, it's very peculiar."
How do you feel now?
“Unprecedentedly powerful,” Hal said. “This primal dark force seems to be related to Batman, and Batman’s willpower further amplifies the Green Lantern energy that represents willpower. My previous speculation was correct; the two forces complement each other.”
Bruce breathed a sigh of relief and said, "But I have to say, this speculation is too audacious. Who would have thought that the darkest forces in the universe could merge with the power of the Ring of Justice?"
“This is the inspiration Barry gave me,” Hal said. “No one had ever thought before that the power of darkness could merge with the speed force. It seems that this primordial power of darkness can merge very well with various forces.”
“After all, everything has a dark side,” Bruce said. “My biggest concern is whether this power will bring out the dark side of your own heart.”
“I haven’t hit you yet, so I don’t think I have,” Hal said irritably. “But if you dare to throw that biting phone into my office again, things might get complicated.”
Bruce smiled broadly, walked over and gave Hal a hug, then said, "Welcome back, Emerald Lantern."
The commotion had already caught the attention of Batman from the main universe. When he saw Hal emerge, his gaze sharpened, then fell upon Bruce.
“Don’t look at him, this was my idea,” Hal said, turning back. “Now, it’s time to teach Darkseid a lesson.”
