Chapter 46 Blessing of the Beast God

Chapter 46 Blessing of the Beast God

After Linni finished reciting the prayer with everyone, she felt a strange, trembling sensation in her heart, just like when she was in the ape tribe. Before she could think too much about it, she saw all the females transform into beast forms and then raise their heads to roar loudly at the stone tablet.

Linni was startled. Dozens of wild beasts roared at the same time, which was indeed a bit frightening. Moreover, they had all transformed into their animal forms, making it quite awkward for her to stand there in human form! She nervously retreated to Yao's side, and Yao reached out and intertwined his fingers with hers, whispering reassuringly, "Don't be afraid!"

Lin Ni glanced at Yao: He didn't even know that his beast form had a companion! Thinking this way, she felt less panicked.

Fortunately, the females only cried out for two minutes before they all turned back into human form. They knelt down on the spot, made an OK sign with their hands, placed their left hand on their right chest and their right hand palm up on their right abdomen, closed their eyes and began to pray.

Linni knelt down beside Yao, mimicking everyone else's posture, and closed her eyes. Unlike usual, she didn't let her mind wander. Wanting to recapture that thrilling feeling, she silently prayed: "The Tiger Beast Tribe prays to the Beast God. We will do our utmost to protect the towering mountains. We hope the Beast God will bless us!"

She felt nothing. After a while, she recited again: "Linni prays to the Beast God for blessings. I will do my best to help the creatures in the towering mountains. I hope the Beast God will bless me!"

She couldn't get into the zone for a while, nor did she react at all. So she couldn't help but look up at the Beast God Stele, her thoughts starting to wander. With her eyes closed, she wondered: If the Beastman Continent isn't a sphere, is it possible that it's just one continent within that sphere, and the stele divides it up, so the Beastmen think the world is only this big? But there are four moons at night, and there's no waxing or waning moon, so it might not be a sphere. Could this be some other dimension? The four moons in the sky, could they correspond to four stele steles?

As she thought of this, she suddenly felt a soft white light shining down from the stone tablet above. Lin Ni opened her eyes and saw that the gentle white light was lightly enveloping her and Yao. Then she heard a male voice beside her say, "They have been blessed by the Beast God!"

"Us? Is this the blessing of the Beast God?" Lin Ni wondered. Then she heard an elderly woman's voice in her ear, "Quiet! Focus!"

Linni quickly closed her eyes, feeling the blessing of the white light emanating from the stone tablet. The light enveloped her and Yao, making her feel warm all over. Her thoughts floated upwards with the light, and she seemed to "see" the entire stone tablet bathed in white light. The tall, ancient stone tablet floated on the horizon, guarding the lush, towering mountains. At the center of this continent was the primeval forest where she had first arrived on the Beastman Continent. What did the volcano in the center of the forest represent? The four stone tablets faced it; what was its purpose? As these questions arose in her mind, a red light suddenly rose from the volcano—it seemed to be both imagined and seen with her mind. The red light shot into the sky, then crossed thousands of mountains and rivers, directly projecting onto her and Yao. Linni felt a flash of red light on her body, and then it disappeared. Linni abruptly opened her eyes to look at Yao and saw four neatly arranged red lines flash between his eyebrows before disappearing.

Yao opened his eyes and looked at her, giving her a smile.

Linni smiled at him, then turned to look at the others. She saw the females gradually waking from their meditative state, each with black symbols flashing between their brows. Linni looked at them for a moment, recognizing them as ancient numbers she'd seen in a museum. She stood up with the others and looked at the brows of the waiting males. Sure enough, she saw symbols ranging from three to seven above their brows. Yao had a red four above his brow, while the females all had threes and sixes. This was a hierarchy? No wonder everyone could tell each other's ranks at a glance!

Mei stood at the front and said loudly to everyone, "The Beast God truly blesses our Tiger Beast Tribe! Today is a wonderful day. Just now, one of our females and one of our males received the Beast God's blessing."

As soon as she finished speaking, some people whispered among themselves, while others looked at Linni and Yao. Sure enough, Mei beckoned to Linni, who glanced at Yao and, with his encouraging look, walked to Mei's side. Mei had Linni face everyone and introduced her, saying, "This is Lin, who has just joined our tribe. She just received the blessing of the Beast God; this is her good fortune, and it is also a good fortune for our Tiger Beast Tribe!"

Everyone looked at Lin Ni with envy.

Mei reached out and hugged Linni: "Lin, welcome to the team!"

Being watched and observed by so many people, Lin Ni was a little nervous: "Thank you!"

Mei smiled and said, "Today's blessing ceremony is over. Everyone, come with me down the mountain to collect your salt for the next five days." She then patted Linni's hand and said, "I'll go down first." Then she transformed into a large tiger and ran off.

Lin Ni watched as all the females walked down the mountain on their own or rode in their companions' animal forms, except for Mei and her sister Li, who transformed themselves and walked. She wondered if this counted as them being decisive, lively, and cheerful. Or, as her hometown people would say: "This woman is really fierce!" Thinking of this, she couldn't help but laugh out loud: "Isn't this a real tiger? A real tiger!"

Yao walked over and took her hand: "Lin looks so happy."

Lin Ni looked up at him: "Yao, have you leveled up to level four?"

Yao looked at her in surprise, then nodded and said, "Lin can see that?"

"Mmm." Lin Ni nodded, and was about to ask him how he felt just now when she saw Hui leading her partner over. Hui said with a hint of jealousy, "Lin, you're amazing! You actually received the blessing of the Beast God!"

Lin Ni was afraid of saying something that might upset her, so she said, "I don't know what it is either. I just heard Mei say this after the meditation ended."

Hui looked at her with suspicion: "Don't you feel anything?"

Lin Ni quickly shook her head. She didn't mean to lie to her; she just didn't want to explain too much to someone she was meeting for the first time.

Hui saw her shake her head and didn't press the matter further. She came over and took Lin Ni's hand, saying, "Lin, there are too many people going to collect salt now. Let's walk down the mountain slowly; there will be fewer people then."

Linni didn't understand anything, so she obediently nodded: "Okay, sure."

The four of them followed behind everyone down the mountain. The sun was already close to its zenith, and Lin Ni guessed it was almost noon. However, Yan hadn't come to pick her up yet, so the new house wasn't ready yet. It was better to go a little later to avoid causing trouble. Besides, talking to Hui would allow her to learn more about the Tiger Beast Tribe. So, she took Hui's hand and asked, "Hui, I heard they come to pray for blessings every five days. Are they given salt each time?"
