Chapter 3017 Mercury (Part )
After the banquet, several people got into the car in the cool evening breeze. Lex said that this was an internal matter of the Justice League and he would not get involved, while Arthur prepared to drive to pick up the last person, Oliver.
Oliver now works in a bar in Metropolis. When Arthur arrived, he saw him mixing drinks at the bar. He went up to greet him. Oliver was a little surprised and said, "Why are you here? You finally have time to drink?"
"We have something to ask you, can we ask for leave?"
"No problem, the bar owner is an acquaintance of mine. I saved his life from a drug dealer before, and he's pretty easy to talk to. Wait a minute, I'll make a call."
"Oh, by the way, we might be staying there overnight, so a few bottles of wine and some snacks, any ice? A bucket of..."
Soon, the two of them left the bar with their bags. There were only two of them in Arthur's car. Arthur put the things in the trunk, got into the driver's seat, and said, "It looks like you've been doing well recently. Are you still chasing those drug dealers?"
"We can't kill them all," Oliver sighed. "Their base is in Mexico. Once we kill one group, there will always be another."
Arthur nodded and chatted with him about his work in the bar. Oliver said, "I'm glad you didn't talk to me about Mexico. Everyone keeps asking me for my opinion, as if I can't live without it, but it's just a part of my life."
"It sounds like you've found the other part," Arthur said teasingly. "Is it the girl I saw last time?"
"Which one?" Oliver rolled his eyes and said, "There are a lot of girls where I work. They all like me and think I'm a person with a story."
"Don't beat around the bush. It's the blonde girl you saved in Mexico. You two had a great adventure on a cruise ship. You saved her so many times, she must have pledged her love to you, right?"
"You mean Dinah? I don't have any feelings for her." Oliver shook his head and said, "I feel like she's still just a little girl."
"Don't make it sound like you're so old." Arthur said, "Mera said that the people of Atlantis would live longer than humans, which means I'm still a child now, younger than Bruce."
"You're a half-blood, don't be so shameless." Oliver complained mercilessly, then he thought for a moment and said, "Are you and Mera going to get married? Is it settled? Isn't it a bit too hasty?"
"If I want to inherit Atlantis, I must marry Mera." Arthur said, "She is the queen of Xebel, the most powerful vassal state of Atlantis. The union of the King of Atlantis and Queen Xebel will make the underwater world more stable and make us more powerful."
"I'm not talking politics to you. Do you like her?"
"I think she's pretty good. She's beautiful, strong, and independent. When I'm on land, she can help me rule Atlantis. We prosper together and suffer together. This is the best husband-wife relationship."
"I didn't expect you to be so mature in this area. I thought you were going to say something like follow your love."
"Love is always unreliable. This has been proven true in my parents' case. Only when the two parties are equally matched and have a common interest can it be stable enough. Charity from one party to the other will not last long."
Oliver seemed to have thought of something and fell into deep thought, then he noticed that the car was heading towards Gotham.
"We're going to Gotham? To do what?"
"Bruce has quietly built a base on Mercury, and the portal is in Gotham. Although we can fly there, we are worried about your safety, so let's go through the portal."
"Mercury?!" Oliver raised his voice and said, "The planet closest to the sun? How did he get there?!"
"He got a set of equipment from another universe through Doujie. I heard that it's a fool-proof operation to launch it up, and you don't have to worry about it after it lands. Everything will be built automatically, but I'm skeptical about the quality."
Oliver nodded, thinking that what Arthur said made sense. Humanity's current technology was clearly not yet at the stage where it could mine Mercury, and full automation did not sound very reliable.
However, when they landed on the Mercury base, they were still shocked. This place did not look like Mercury.
"God, you hollowed out all of Mercury's crust?!" Clark looked at Bruce and said, "It feels like it's not three-quarters, but almost two-thirds. How did you do it?"
"I've already told you that I didn't do this. Tim got this equipment from another universe. The humans in that universe have already developed to the age of space colonization. Forget it. Just look at what's wrong with this base and we'll make some adjustments."
The Marvel Universe's Mercury base has undergone several renovations and is now more than just a simple ground facility. About two-thirds of Mercury has been completely transformed and has already taken shape as a planetary battleship.
Almost all of Mercury's surface has been hollowed out to form a huge industrial base. A little higher up is the living base. The accommodation area alone covers several square kilometers, where ordinary employees live.
For just five people, this base is a bit too big, but this also stimulated their ambitions even more. It would be a waste if they didn't bring more people to such a good base for training.
Diana and Clark excitedly began to draw up a list of trainees, Bruce and Oliver began to test the network here, and Arthur wandered around the base.
After a while, they gathered together and began to vote on the candidates for consultants. Not surprisingly, Schiller was ranked first.
"Since we don't have a Martian Hunter, we do need a psychologist to help us with some psychological analysis." Oliver said very objectively, "But I heard that Professor Schiller's research direction is not behavioral analysis, and his analysis cannot provide objective evidence. This makes us waver when making judgments, but it would be irresponsible to blindly believe in it."
"I can be responsible for providing evidence in behavioral analysis." Bruce said, "After all, I have studied for so many years. Although I have perfectly avoided the research direction of my mentor, fortunately, I have achieved good results in a field that has nothing to do with my mentor."
"You're pretty proud," Clark said, pressing the back of his head.
"I think Professor Schiller's opinion is very valuable for reference." Diana said, with her finger on her chin. "Even if he can't provide evidence, he can provide us with a lot of inspiration. Besides, he has close connections with people in other universes. If things come to the last minute, maybe he can help us turn things around."
"I have no objection." Clark said, "I think Professor Schiller is knowledgeable and reliable. As long as Bruce doesn't make him angry, he is the best teammate."
Everyone looked at Bruce.
"Why are you looking at me?" Bruce glared back without showing any weakness, and then said, "We just had some minor conflicts before, and now they have been resolved. Do you think I am the kind of person who doesn't care about the overall situation?"
"You are." Diana said very straightforwardly: "Forget it, I will communicate with Professor Schiller later. Clark, you are responsible for watching Bruce. That's it."
Oliver looked down at the list and said, "Who proposed it, Professor Victor Freese? Can you tell me why?"
The meeting lasted about half an hour, and the list of consultants was almost finalized. In addition to science and technology consultants like Schiller and Victor, there were also Zatanna and Constantine as magic consultants, Madame Xanadu as consultant for the other world and alien creatures, Beelzebub as consultant for hell, Michael as consultant for heaven, and so on...
Then they finalized the first batch of trainees, including Robin, the Fantastic Twins, Raven and the Flash.
That's right, Barry the Flash is now a member of the Young Justice League. Since he is indeed younger than the others and is still studying, he doesn't have much time to fight crime, so he cannot become a formal member and can only be a substitute temporarily.
Of course, there are also outstanding young talents from Amazon, Atlantis, Gotham Academy of Magic, and the Mexican Revolutionary Army. These talents are the backbone of the future Justice League.
For some reason, no one in this universe wants to make the Justice League a superhero organization. They would rather build an agent organization like S.H.I.E.L.D.
In other words, these superheroes with different personalities are not actually the main force, and most of them only play a leadership role. These young agents from various forces are the real doers who can handle all kinds of problems on land, sea, and even in magical worlds.
After deciding all this, they began to send emails step by step, and then returned to their respective territories to select people. They planned to make use of the large space of the Mercury Base to organize a three-month training camp to further screen and allocate talents.
Before leaving the Mercury base, Diana found Bruce and said, "I almost forgot to tell you that one of the reasons why Professor Schiller asked me to come over was that the curse that Circe cast on him relapsed. He doesn't seem to be in good condition. You can go see him."
"I'm not in good condition. How can I say that I'm not in good condition?"
Diana told Bruce how Schiller was cursed and turned into a snake. She thought the curse was lifted, but now it has recurred. Bruce was quite surprised and said, "Turned into a poisonous snake? Did he really not bite to death a few students who didn't hand in their papers?"
"If he could, he would bite you to death first." Diana said unhappily, "Have you written your doctoral thesis? If not, then wait for him to poison you to death."
Bruce certainly didn't write it, but he wasn't afraid because he was now immune to all poisons.
People always go through this process when writing a paper. At the beginning, they will feel very sad when being scolded. When being scolded again, they will doubt themselves. When being scolded later, they will feel quite pressured. Finally, when being scolded, they just want to laugh.
Bruce is now at this stage where he is laughing at his own incompetence.
So he came to Schiller's new home without any burden, knocked on the door and found no one there. It was not until he called Schiller that he learned that Schiller was hospitalized again, in the bed next to Killer Croc.
"Look, professor, I told you that you have anti-ancestral blood." Killer Croc crossed his legs and threw down a poker and said, "But it doesn't matter, don't I still have you? You know, scales are a fashion. When I went to the comic convention, they all asked me where I made this realistic leather suit..."
Schiller was obviously not in a good mood and looked a little listless. He said, "Can you really adapt to being a cold-blooded animal that needs to bask in the sun for more than ten hours a day? I don't even want to move without the sun."
"Of course I can't adapt to it, so I have this." Killer Croc pressed a button on the wall next to him, and instantly, warm light shone on Schiller. Schiller looked up and saw a high-power ultraviolet lamp above his head.
"This hospital is quite professional." Schiller said speechlessly.
"Of course. I suggested to them that this is one of the welfare facilities for cold-blooded animals. We don't shed hair, so it saves them a lot of cleaning fees. Isn't it normal to install a light for us?"
What else could Schiller say? He could only give him a thumbs up.
Qiqihar barbecue is really delicious! It really has a milky flavor!
