Chapter 3561 Edge of Tomorrow (VII)
"'Brainiac Support Club'? What the hell is this organization?" Victor looked at the poster on the campus bulletin board with a look of disgust.
Schiller was standing next to him, so he naturally saw the poster. In the center of the poster was Brainiac's big green bald head, with two lines of words written next to it: one line read "Follow Brainiac and create a beautiful new earth", and the other line read "Join the Brainiac Support Club now, we will help you solve all the troubles in your life."
"Sounds like a housekeeping ad," Schiller commented matter-of-factly.
"A little bit. Is preaching allowed in our school?"
"I've never heard of the relevant rules." Schiller shook his head. The two walked into the activity building together.
Schiller didn't think this was surprising. There was no shortage of capitulationists and traitors in every dynasty and around the world. Brainiac's theory was barely self-consistent, so naturally there would be people willing to follow him.
The poster has even been posted at Gotham University, which shows that there are many teachers and students who support him. I don't know if they really want super artificial intelligence to come to Earth, or if they just think supporting this big green bald guy is trendy and fun.
Judging from the daily behavior of teachers and students at Gotham University, the latter is more likely. Not to mention Gotham University, the entire city of Gotham exudes a temperament that is afraid of chaos in the world.
Walking to the window, Schiller unbuttoned his suit and sat down, then picked up the newspaper next to him. The headline on the front page was again that of the big green bald man.
"What's that about?" Victor asked, picking up the cigar box.
"It seems that some of his supporters have started taking to the streets." Schiller took a quick glance and turned to the next page, and sure enough, he saw the scene of a march and demonstration.
"Isn't it over there on Diamond Street?"
"Where else could it be?" Shiller sneered, "Because the stock market has plummeted, the poor people who have nothing are waiting for aliens to balance their debts for them."
"I said this wouldn't work," Victor said. "There are indeed many poor people in this world who are forced to live in poverty, but there are also a large number of financial speculators who have brought this upon themselves. Why should we share their wealth to clean up their messes?"
"This group of people are the loudest." Schiller glanced at the newspaper again and said, "They are demonstrating just to get the Justice League to show up so that they can negotiate with Brainiac on their behalf. They hope that Brainiac will help them pay off their debts after he arrives, and even better, give them a large sum of money so that they can continue to throw it into the stock market and lose it all."
Victor shook his head and sighed.
At this moment, Schiller suddenly thought of something. He said, "Where are Barry's parents?"
"Their house is at the junction of the East District and the South District, not too far from your home. What's the matter?"
"We have to go there," Schiller said, standing up. "I'm afraid someone will find their house."
Victor also frowned and stood up with Schiller. As they walked out, he said, "That shouldn't be the case, right? Although the Flash doesn't wear a uniform, he always wears a mask, so it's not that easy to recognize him. He has never revealed his true identity."
"If ordinary people want to find him, it's not that easy. Even the government and law enforcement agencies may not be able to do anything to the people of Gotham. But those hyenas on Diamond Street can do anything."
Schiller walked faster and faster, got into the car as fast as he could, and headed for the junction of the East District and the South District.
The definition and status of Gotham's Diamond Street is equivalent to New York's Wall Street. Basically, as long as the word "finance" is mentioned, people will immediately think of Diamond Street.
The high-rise buildings on Diamond Street have shaped the dreams of countless speculators, but they have also become their burial ground. Since the Great Depression, the suicides of losers have long been nothing new. During the period when the stock market fell the most, it was normal for hundreds of stocks to fall in a day.
In the world of DC, if there is anyone crazier and more terrifying than a super criminal, it is probably a gambler who has lost all his money.
Before Brainiac came, if they lost the bet, they would have only one fate, and that was to become trapeze artists. Even if they didn't do it themselves, their creditors would do it for them.
But now, Brainiac has come, and he claims that he will divide the world's wealth equally so that everyone can live a prosperous life.
For ordinary poor people, poverty is bearable, because they are born poor and have always lived a tight life, so living a few more days like this is not a big deal. So they are not in such a hurry.
But for these speculators who once enjoyed great success, poverty is unbearable. Because they have seen the scenery on the top and enjoyed a luxurious life, staying in the mud pit of poverty for one more second will make them feel uncomfortable and crazy. They are the most anxious.
These people would do anything to make Brainiac fulfill his promise.
Since Brainiac specifically asked the Justice League to come out for negotiations, they would dig deep into the ground to dig out the members of the Justice League.
Politicians in Congress have different factions and positions, and there are still arguments about whether to fight Brainiac. Most politicians also have to protect their reputation and do not want to be caught by political opponents, so they will be relatively restrained even if they have to use some small tricks.
But the speculators on Diamond Street will not do that. As long as it allows them to return to the life of the upper class, they will do anything.
If they can't find the members of the Justice League, they'll go find their families; if they can't find their families, they'll threaten their friends and classmates. Riots, slander, kidnapping, even murder, there's nothing these gamblers can't do.
They are not even afraid of death, so what else can they be afraid of?
There aren't many people in the Justice League who have both parents. Even fewer have both parents who live in Gotham and are just ordinary citizens. Barry's parents are one of them.
Although the Flash is an anonymous hero, Barry rarely wears a uniform. Most of the time, he wears a regular uniform with a mask or a mask. Anyway, he has the iconic golden lightning, so as long as he appears, people can tell who he is, so it doesn't matter what he wears.
Ordinary people really can't see this level of disguise. But those who can sneak into Diamond Street have some connections. When these people were prosperous, they also had a lot of channels. Although they can't use much now, it's still relatively easy to open a box.
Once Barry's identity was found, it would be much easier to investigate his social contacts and family relationships. The best way to threaten him to show up was to create a kidnapping case that was exposed to the public.
As long as he learns from the media that his parents have been kidnapped, he will naturally show up. He can even be threatened through his parents to gain more benefits for certain people during negotiations.
While driving, Schiller called Gordon and got Barry's specific home address, but did not ask the Gotham Police Department to send a car over.
If the other party has already taken action, the police may not be able to do anything; if the other party has not yet taken action, Schiller and Victor will naturally be able to handle it.
The car stopped in front of a two-story building. This was the last batch of buildings built in the East District, belonging to the East District's villa area.
Although it is a villa area, it is only different from the high-rise buildings in the city. In fact, it is just an ordinary two-story building. Most of the people living here are middle-class people in the eastern district.
When Schiller got out of the car, he saw that the door to the yard was open. Victor took out his freezing gun and the two rushed to the door as fast as they could.
The door opened easily, it wasn't locked at all. There was no one in the living room, vases and bookshelves were scattered on the floor, it was obvious that someone had been there.
Victor rushed up to the second floor in two steps, then stood at the stairs and shook his head at Schiller, indicating that there was no one upstairs.
“Garage,” Schiller mouthed.
He and Victor walked in one after the other, one from the main door of the garage and the other from the side door.
As soon as the side door opened, Victor raised the freezing gun and saw the Allens tied up in the car.
Schiller quickly walked over, opened the car door, and tore off the tape on Barry's father's mouth.
"Thank God!" He staggered out of the car. Schiller untied the ropes on his hands, and he hurried back to carry his wife out.
"Call the police, call the police!" Mr. Allen was obviously still in shock, and said in a trembling voice, "The gang has gone to get something, they will be back soon. Call the police!"
"Click!" There was a noise from the front door. Both Mr. and Mrs. Allen showed a look of fear in their eyes.
Schiller did not take out his cell phone. He walked to the other side of the car and began to untie his tie, while giving Victor a look.
Victor understood and walked to the garage door, standing behind the door with guns in both hands, while the Allens hid behind the car.
The door was pushed open.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
Two of the three shots hit, and two people were knocked to the ground. The last person cursed and turned to run, but was strangled by Schiller who rushed out from the other side of the car.
Schiller did not hold back, and the crisp sound of the spine breaking was so sharp that it made people's scalps numb.
The Allens tried to get out from behind the car, but Schiller turned to them and said, "Don't move. Go back to the car first."
The two had no choice but to open the back door of the car and get in, watching with some horror as Schiller and Victor dragged the three people into their living room.
"What should we do?" Victor asked.
Schiller did not speak. He simply turned around and went to the kitchen to get a sharp fruit knife, and then he made the body he was dragging face the same direction as him, and with one hand he strangled the neck, and with the other hand he held the knife, and stabbed the chest and abdomen of the body more than a dozen times.
Suddenly, the whole living room was splattered with blood.
Schiller threw the body aside and said to Victor, "Untie this."
He was looking at one of the ice sculptures frozen by Victor. Although the other party was trapped in the ice sculpture, he was still conscious. After seeing Schiller's actions, he showed an extremely terrified expression.
Schiller didn't waste any time talking to him. He picked up the lamp on the table beside him and, taking advantage of the moment when the ice was lifted, smashed the lamp on the back of the man's head with a bang.
After being knocked down, the opponent tried to get up, but there was too much blood on the ground, and he slipped and fell to the ground as soon as he struggled. Schiller still used all his strength, and the second blow directly smashed out his brain.
The third person had his throat slit by Schiller, and was used as a showerhead, spraying blood all over the house. Most of the living room floor, ceiling, and furniture were covered in a thick layer of blood.
The two men stood outside the range of the blood spray and did not leave any footprints. They went around the backyard and came to the garage again, sitting in the driver's seat and the co-pilot's seat respectively.
"Let's go, I'll take you to a safe place," Schiller said.
Schiller took out his phone while driving, dialed a number and said, "Hello? Ron? Could you please come over? My home address is..."
