The others turned to look at him. Schiller shook his head and said, "If he were just staying in Gotham, he wouldn't need a car. Since he stole the Batmobile, it proves he wants to leave. What do you think he'll do?"
"Call for reinforcements?"
“There are no saviors left in this universe,” Schiller continued. “Batman is in such a sorry state, how can we expect the Justice League to survive? They’ve probably all been wiped out long ago.”
“What I’m saying is that he only wants to complete his mission. Batman fighting here won’t help restore order to Gotham. So you’re not really his teammates, and he’ll deal with you to complete his mission.”
"There were hardly any living people left in this city to begin with; those causing chaos now are all visitors from another world. So he would absolutely not hesitate to use some kind of weapon of mass destruction to raze the entire city to the ground. With no one around, order can naturally be restored."
"You mean he can use missiles?" The main universe's Batman frowned. "But getting the military to agree won't be that easy..."
“Gotham is already in such a mess, is there any decent government outside?” Schiller said helplessly. “Even if there is, it would be difficult to stop him. He is best at dealing with the military and government personnel.”
“There are quite a few Batmen in this city,” the main universe Batman said, frowning. “We can’t let them all die in the bombing.”
“I’m afraid there are people who are even less willing to let them lose than you are.” Schiller turned to the maniacal laugh and said, “I believe you’ve already realized that not everyone is willing to play games with Batman. You can’t find any sense of purpose in that one of me. If you don’t leave, then you can expect to lose manpower.”
Kuangxiao still looked very gloomy; even when he forced a smile, it was clear he was in a bad mood. This wasn't surprising, though, since the hole in his head hadn't fully healed yet.
“Believe me, he can do it,” Night Owl couldn’t help but say. “He’s unlike any Schiller. He’s a ruthless task-getting machine. You can’t persuade him with words.”
"Shut up! You damn idiot!" he roared with a laugh. "Even if he razes this place to the ground, he can't kill all the Dark Batmen. You think I care about a few more deaths? We don't need weaklings here!"
"Is that so?" Batman said with a hint of disdain. "The ones you found aren't very strong. If you weren't planning to have them play the victim and interfere with Batman's judgment, why would you bother with these pathetic weaklings? If the hostages all die, Batman won't show you any mercy."
The Batman Who Laughs's eyes darted almost imperceptibly; clearly, that was his plan. The key was that these Batmen victims weren't particularly strong; ordinary firearms would have been enough to injure them. Without these people acting as shields, Batman would have already charged in.
As it turns out, the Batman Who Laughs before his enhancement wasn't very strong; at least, he couldn't defeat the strongest Batman. He was well aware of this, which is why he never dared to engage in combat.
Having been found by the enemy, he had already considered retreating. In addition, he didn't want his hard-won human shield to be blown up, so he decided to withdraw.
“But leaving won’t be so easy,” said the broken bat, now in the body of the Angel of Death. “You seduced Paul and imprisoned me for 15 years. Do you think I’ll just let it go?”
“If you stay, you’ll be blown up too.” The Batman Who Laughs seemed confident. “Unless you go back to the basement and stay in that water tank, when the nuclear bomb falls, nobody will escape.”
“Then let’s take a gamble.” He brandished his weapon and said, “Let’s see who dies first when the nuclear bomb comes.”
He charged forward after saying that. The Laughing Batman had no choice but to swing his chains in response. The main universe's Batman was a step too slow and couldn't stop him. He shook his head and said, "This is troublesome."
“I think we should get out of here first,” said K. Bat. “That guy is definitely going to bring something big down here. I might survive, but you might not.”
At this moment, the henchmen the Batman Who Laughs had brought, who had been sitting comfortably on the high platform, were already preparing to flee. Night Owl was the fastest; he was already almost out of the cathedral.
"Make a decision quickly," K. Bat said impatiently. "Either we stay here and get bombed together, or we leave now."
Night Owl arrived at the cathedral's entrance, and just as he was about to rush out, he was slapped back by a tentacle. He turned around to look at the pale figure, but the other person didn't even glance at him.
"The teleportation device is with the Laughing Maniac!" Night Owl shouted. "It records the Dark Universe he's visited!"
"Shut up! You damned traitor!" he roared with maniacal laughter.
Upon hearing this news, the other two Batmen no longer hesitated. They needed to know how many people the Batman Who Laughed had corrupted. To rescue these Dark Batmen, they needed to know which universe they came from and what the situation was like in those universes. The Batman Who Laughs' teleporter, which recorded this information, was clearly crucial.
In an instant, all the Batmen on the field were beating up the Maniac Laugh. The Maniac Laugh might not even be able to defeat one of them, let alone so many. He was beaten to the ground in just a few rounds, his face and head covered in blood, lying on the ground panting heavily.
The main universe's Batman found the teleporter on his waist. He was about to reach for it when Schiller stopped him.
The main universe's Batman withdrew his hand. Schiller stepped forward and took the remote-like object. Since it hadn't been disassembled, no important information could be discerned inside; it simply looked very strange.
Just as Schiller turned the object upside down to check the reverse side, a needle suddenly pierced his skin. Schiller could feel something flowing into his body.
The laughing bat suddenly burst into maniacal laughter.
"Batman! I foresaw all of this! My gene fusion experiments in this universe weren't entirely in vain. I've fused the genes of every supervillain in this universe together, and now they're being injected into you. You're about to become the greatest, most evil, and most perfect supervillain in the entire multiverse!!!"
Schiller simply looked at him calmly: "Could you at least figure out who I am first?"
The maniacal laughter abruptly stopped. He struggled to straighten up from the ground, looked ahead, and then noticed that the person holding the strange black object seemed rather thin.
The maniac's laughter was indeed making it difficult to see clearly. First, he had a gaping hole in his head, damaging the visual area of his brain before it had fully healed. Then, he was punched by several Batmen, which definitely injured his eyeballs. In addition, the blood flowing from his head also got into his eye sockets, leaving him with mostly black and blood red vision. The fact that he could barely see any figures was a testament to his amazing regenerative abilities.
"Then you...then you can also..."
"Sorry, I don't need you. I am already the greatest, most evil, and most perfect supervillain in the entire multiverse."
Schiller turned his head, and the two Batmen were already three meters away from him.
"What do you mean by this?" he couldn't help but ask. "You don't actually think this stuff will work on me, do you?"
“If this thing doesn’t work on you, then it’s actually good news that it works on you,” said the main universe Batman.
“I…” Schiller was about to say something when his expression changed. He looked at the maniacal laugh and said, “There are excitatory neurotransmitters in this?”
Before he could reply to the maniacal laughter, Schiller seemed to be provoked. He took a deep breath, shook his head, and said, "They're getting excited... Let's go!"
Just as Arkham Batman was about to ask something, his expression changed as if he had suddenly remembered something. He exchanged a glance with the main universe Batman and realized that the other had clearly thought of the same thing.
In a previous instance, they encountered two very special Schillers. To be precise, one was fairly normal, but the other...
"Don't turn your back on him!" the main universe Batman immediately shouted. "Back up and walk out! Quickly!"
The others were somewhat confused, but the main universe Batman and Arkham Batman had already used their grappling hooks to fly backwards. The others had no choice but to follow suit, though some turned and ran, like Owl.
He had just run out of the church when he felt something rushing towards him at an unimaginable speed. He felt as if he had been hit by a speeding train.
"Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah!!!!"
The main universe Batman and Arkham Batman, retreating through the side window, heard screams coming from outside the main entrance. The main universe Batman hesitated for a moment before saying, "When will the nuclear bomb arrive?"
Arkham Batman shook his head.
Obviously, no matter how fast the agents are, they couldn't launch a nuclear missile in the time it takes to say a few words. So, the main universe Batman and Arkham Batman searched for the Dark Batman within the city as quickly as possible.
Most of the Dark Batmen are deeply malicious and won't listen to reason. Fortunately, the Arkham Batman is also very good at using force, and he knocks most of them unconscious and takes them to the cathedral's basement.
Khrushchev has set up a barrier here. Nuclear bombs can't penetrate it. But the remaining die-hards and unlucky souls are in for a lot of trouble.
Regardless of whether the stuff the Mad Laugh developed contained supervillain genes or not, it contained a large amount of excitatory neurotransmitters, including adrenaline, common stimulants, and various drugs that enhance nerve activity. This stuff was a huge tonic for the pathological.
The moment the injection was completed, the ceiling was violently slammed, and the entire tower shook. Jormungandr nearly fell off the roof; had the floor not been reinforced later, it would have been smashed open again.
Schiller relentlessly pursued Night Owl. He nearly killed Night Owl, but Night Owl wasn't unprepared to come here. Despite suffering a major loss, he quickly escaped from this universe.
Still unwilling to give up, and believing that the fusion of genes would work on Schiller, the maniac did not take advantage of Schiller's distraction to escape, but instead continued to follow Schiller closely.
Seeing Schiller's ferocious behavior, he initially thought it was due to the effects of his fusion genes. However, when Night Owl left this universe, Schiller's target shifted to maniacal laughter.
"No! I bestowed this power upon you. You cannot... Aaaaaaah!!!"
As a streak of light flashed across the sky, the entire city was leveled by a nuclear bomb. The agent heard the "Mission Accomplished" notification, which, like the most beautiful melody, brought him a sigh of relief.
He returned the body he used in the Battle Realm to the hibernation pod and returned from the Dream Kingdom to the tower. Then he found the atmosphere in the tower to be somewhat strange.
"What's wrong?" the detective asked, looking down at the greedy man in the courtyard.
"That thing that Maniac Laugh did was really something," Greed said with a hint of helplessness. "The morbidity isn't coming down now, and it keeps chasing after him."
"But weren't the cities all razed to the ground?"
"Yes, the maniacal laughter eventually broke free. But now, the pathology is controlling our bodies and chasing after it."
"They caught up with them?"
"They chased him all the way to the Dark Universe. And the Dark Universe where Mad Laughter is is one of the Battle Realm dungeons; it seems there are still players doing quests inside."
Greed looked utterly hopeless and said, "If this continues, the whole universe will really know us."
"Can we see what's happening in that universe?"
"We are trying to figure something out."
