Chapter 3799 The School Doctor's "Daily Life" (XIV)
"So what am I supposed to do?" Schiller turned to look at the screenwriter and props team. Since it wasn't official filming yet, just set-up, the screenwriter and props team were in charge.
"Come here first." A member of the props team stood in the forest and waved to him, saying, "You need to leave some footprints around here, and then pick the mushrooms here..."
Schiller did as he was told and went over to examine the cluster of mushrooms. The mushrooms were blue with white patterns and emitted a faint glow. According to the rule that "the more vibrant the color, the more poisonous it is," they could probably poison a dinosaur.
“This mushroom is called the Slowing Mushroom, and it can be used to brew a Slowing Potion.” The screenwriter rolled up the script, pointed to the mushroom, and said, “In the story, Saffir needs this potion to sneak out of school in order to attack the New York Temple. So he has to come and pick this mushroom.”
Schiller rubbed his hands together and said, "Then how do we pick them? Just pluck them off, right?"
"Do whatever you want," the screenwriter said. "Take the samples however you think is appropriate."
Schiller looked at the props team and said, "Give me a pair of gloves, preferably the kind that look like magical items, and a small knife..."
Soon, the props team handed him a pair of black leather gloves with barely perceptible silver patterns. Schiller put on the gloves, grasped the mushroom tip with one hand, and used a knife to pry the mushroom off the rotten wood with the other. After removing it, he patted the mushroom tip to disperse the spores.
“Not bad,” Chris commented. “How about the footprints around there?”
"It's alright," the props team said. "There are two on that path over there, which are fairly obvious, but the nearby footprints will be hidden by some kind of magic."
Schiller walked around the area again, and the props team selected and preserved some of the footprints. Then they went to the lake. The props team said, "Now you need to bring up a magic fish."
"A magic fish?" Schiller asked with some curiosity.
"Yes. One of the main characters has a cat. When they came to the school hospital before, the cat wasn't very friendly to you. You were worried that it would discover your whereabouts, so you wanted to use this fish to brew a concealment potion."
"A concealment potion?"
"It's a potion used to completely hide yourself," the screenwriter explained. "In our concept, the mucus on this fish can be used to make a concealment potion, which allows you to become completely invisible after drinking it."
Schiller thought for a moment and said, "Do you have any bait?"
The props team handed him some things. Schiller stuffed these things into Mephisto's hands and said, "You use magic to control the bait and throw it into the middle of the lake, then use magic to fish out the fish."
“I do all the dirty and hard work,” Mephisto complained.
But he did as he was told and brought up a magic fish. The props team made sure he left traces of ash on the side of the boardwalk and that the magic fish splashed around a couple of times, leaving some slime on the handrail.
The final stop was a large rock deep within the Enchanted Forest. This rock was covered in densely packed runes, forming a dark magic circle. Sealed beneath the circle was a monster, the weapon Sapphire used to attack the New York Sanctum.
Of course, considering the students' safety, Strange and his team couldn't actually put a monster here. Besides, it wasn't official filming yet, so there was no need to put a monster in beforehand. However, the magic circle above wasn't just random scribbles; it was indeed a magic circle that used magical energy to seal something.
Schiller left some footprints around the area and a fluorescent handprint on the edge of the stone. The fluorescence came from the slime of the magic fish. With that, the movement's trajectory was pretty much set up.
At the end, Strange tossed him the magical fish he had caught and said, "We still need to adjust the layout of the Enchanted Forest, so I'll leave the preparation of the Concealment Potion to you. Here's the recipe."
Schiller took the recipe from Strange, glanced at it, and didn't refuse. After all, magical potions didn't actually require magic; only the ingredients had magical properties. Brewing them was similar to cooking, entirely within Schiller's capabilities.
The sorcerer and prop team hurried off to set things up again, and Mephisto was also called away to create dark magic items. Schiller, carrying the fish, returned alone to the school hospital and began preparing the tools for mixing potions.
The instructions said to kill the fish first, then drain the blood, and then grind the fish meat. But the school hospital didn't have any of these tools, so he had to borrow them from the kitchen. But it was lunchtime, and it wouldn't be appropriate for Schiller to bring a raw fish to the kitchen, so he decided to leave the fish at the school hospital for now.
The school hospital didn't have a fish tank, so Schiller found a vase used for dried flowers, filled it with water, and prepared to put the fish in. But whether it was the vase or the water that was the problem, the fish thrashed out as soon as it went in, even splashing onto Schiller.
Schiller grabbed the fish by the tail and slammed it a few times until the unusually energetic magic fish was stunned. He then threw it into the fish tank and went to the kitchen to borrow cooking utensils.
By the time all the utensils and herbs were gathered, the first afternoon class was already halfway through. As Schiller passed by the classroom door, he faintly heard the Grand Mage's voice coming from inside:
"Therefore, we need to be able to see energy accurately before we can use it more freely. You have already learned how to build a magical network in your mind during meditation class. Now, I need you to channel the energy from your wands into your bodies, connect it to the magical network, and then spread it to your eyes so that you can activate magical vision..."
Schiller didn't pay much attention, quickly leaving the classroom and returning to the school clinic to begin brewing the concealment potion. First, he drained the fish blood, then separated the fish meat from the bones, crushed the meat, roasted the bones, and then chopped the herbs…
He was busy when he suddenly heard a commotion at the entrance of the school hospital. He quickly went out to see what was going on and found a student lying on a stretcher screaming in pain, surrounded by several Batmen who looked somewhat worried.
As Schiller walked over, he noticed a stranger on the stretcher. The man appeared to be a student from Neptune Academy, but he was unremarkable, and Schiller had no recollection of him.
The group carried the person to another ward. Schiller asked, "What happened?"
“He accidentally spilled some of the brewed potion in his eyes during his magical plant cultivation class,” the Hippo Goddess sighed. “His eyeballs might be burned; we should apply medicine to them quickly.”
Schiller stepped forward to examine his condition and found that his eyeballs were indeed somewhat damaged. Fortunately, this was not a major issue in the magical world. Schiller went to the side and got a bottle of cleaning and healing potion, first washing his eyes and then applying the healing eye drops.
He was busy treating the student's wounds and didn't notice that the main universe Batman who had come with the student sniffed, then turned to look around the ward, walked to the ward door and looked into Schiller's office.
Seeing nothing, he returned to Schiller's vicinity and took his staff from the pocket of his school uniform. Magical energy slowly flowed into his body, and a glimmer of light flashed in Batman's eyes.
He noticed some fluorescent marks on Schiller's robes.
Batman from Arkham noticed his movements, and the two of them took advantage of the crowd to step back and then left the ward.
"What were you looking at just now?"
"Dr. Schiller has some magical marks on him, probably from some kind of potion. Remember when I told you he went to the forest this morning?"
What do you think he did in the forest?
“We need to figure out what those fluorescent marks are first,” the main universe Batman said, glancing at the clock. “Let’s go to the library.”
They went to the library, their first time visiting during the day. There was someone at the registration desk, but after registering their identities, they could enter; it wasn't strict.
The library was almost empty. As soon as the two entered, they saw a person dressed rather strangely lingering among the bookshelves.
The reason he was described as dressed strangely was because his clothes were all too normal. He was wearing a red plaid shirt, jeans, and sneakers, with a baseball cap on his head and a book in his hand, seemingly about to put it on a bookshelf.
Under normal circumstances, this attire would be perfectly normal. But this is a magic academy; the students wear uniform robes, and the professors wear even more magnificent robes. Batman has never actually seen anyone wear everyday clothes.
Batman walked over. When the other person noticed him approaching, they turned and glanced at him, nodded, and then continued with their work, seemingly determined to find a spot on the bookshelf to put the book in.
"Are you a student?" Batman asked.
“Oh, no, I’m a staff member,” the other person replied curtly. “Do you need the bookshelf? I’ll be right there.”
Batman gestured for him to leave, then pretended to have already gone. The other person finally found a space on the second shelf, stuffed the book they were holding into it, and then hurriedly left.
Batman walked over and took out the book he had just shoved back in. It was a thick book, making it relatively difficult to put back in, but it was very ornate. The cover and back cover had metal gussets, and the cover was inscribed in Latin with the title "The Handbook for Identifying Magical Plants and Animals."
Batman opened the book and discovered that the author was actually a former Sorcerer Supreme. The book contained descriptions of magical plants and animals he had seen and used, including notes on where they would appear, the uses and properties of the materials, and very detailed illustrations.
The main universe's Batman, carrying the book, went to the table and began to carefully flip through it. Before long, he found something suspicious in the section on aquatic creatures:
"The Invisibility Magic Fish lives year-round in cold pools. It possesses a mucus that can be used to brew invisibility potions. High-purity, fresh mucus will glow green under magical vision..."
The main universe Batman and the Arkham Batman exchanged a glance.
"Did he go fishing in the forest?"
"The key question is why he's fishing in the first place. The only use for these fish is to make invisibility potions, so why would he need invisibility potions?"
"Or maybe it's not that he needs it, but that someone else does. After all, he's the school doctor, and anyone could ask him to prepare medicine."
“I think we need to keep an eye on him and see who took the potion from him and what they plan to do with the invisibility potion.”
