Chapter 3826 The School Doctor's "Daily Life" (Forty-One)

"Meet me in the east courtyard." The note was very simple, the strokes so powerful they seemed to penetrate the paper, revealing the fury in the writer's eyes. But Night Owl, who received the note, scoffed. He wasn't afraid of Arkham Batman anymore.

Before get out of class even ended, he had already headed towards the east courtyard. Since most students were still in get out of class, the courtyard was empty, but Arkham Batman was already waiting there.

“I didn’t expect you to find me so quickly,” Night Owl said. “What do you want? To beat me up? I’m afraid you can’t do that right now.”

"Yes, so I'm not planning on beating you up."

Arkham Batman took a half step forward, but Owl instinctively took a big step back, then suddenly realized what he had just done and clenched his fists in anger.

This isn't his fault. The guy in front of him was less of a human and more of a monster, or a ruthless fighting machine. No one knew when he would suddenly attack. Although he didn't look much different from most Bruces, his face possessed an extra layer of intimidation.

Suddenly, Night Owl saw something shiny fly out of Arkham Batman's hand, trace a beautiful parabola in the air, and land on the ground with a "thud".

“I’m giving you one last chance.” Arkham Batman said with a strange smile, “Pick it up, and our feud will be over. I can help others, so I can help you.”

Night Owl felt an overwhelming rage surge to the top of his head. What did he mean by this? Was he teasing a dog?!

Just as Night Owl was about to yell, he saw Arkham Batman's face turn cold and heard him say, "Night Owl, you're just a piece of trash. If the Joker were here, he would happily pick it up, cry his gratitude for my change of heart, and then ask me how to help him. He'd put on a show for anyone for his evil schemes. And you, you're not even as good as that madman."

Night Owl felt his mind go blank. Arkham Batman hadn't actually punched him, but his words were like a heavy blow to his brain, causing every crevice of his brain to tremble and his brain matter to churn like a tsunami.

He opened his mouth, trembling, as if to say something, when he heard a loud "boom." The thing that Arkham Batman had just thrown down suddenly exploded, and the force of the explosion was astonishing, blasting him away, flying over the bridge behind him, and causing him to fall heavily off the cliff.

Night Owl was completely stunned by the explosion, and for a moment he didn't even think to use Mephisto's power to steady himself. By the time he came to his senses, the professors had already flown over, and he dared not use his power even if he had it.

Driven by extreme rage, Night Owl's eyes turned bloodshot. He barely lingered in the school hospital, abandoning all pretense, and used Mephisto's power to heal his injuries before charging towards Arkham Batman, who was walking along the edge of the lawn.

This time, before he could even say a word, the two of them were blown away together, along with many other Batmen who were just passing by after class.

When Night Owl got up from the ground, the Sorcerer Supreme had already arrived. He clenched his fists and gritted his teeth, but still didn't dare to reveal any of his power, and was thus sent into the meditation room by the Sorcerer Supreme.

In any case, well, at least that guy was injured in the explosion just like him, and he didn't have Mephisto's power, so he couldn't heal as quickly. Even if he had schemed against him, it was still a Pyrrhic victory, Night Owl thought to himself.

He wasn't sure if the Sorcerer Supreme was paying attention to the situation in the meditation room, but he figured the Sorcerer Supreme probably didn't care about him. Otherwise, it wouldn't make sense that he had been severely injured in the explosion that morning, yet was able to move freely and cause trouble for Batman Arkham by the afternoon. But the Sorcerer Supreme hadn't paid any attention to him at all, leaving him there without even asking him a question.

Night Owl guessed that the Sorcerer Supreme must have bigger trouble to deal with. After all, with one explosion after another occurring at the school, if he, as the principal, didn't provide an explanation, not only Batman but even ordinary students would start to question him.

Since the Sorcerer Supreme wasn't paying attention here, he could use Mephisto's power to recover a little. After all, the second explosion was even closer to him, and his injuries were more severe. If he didn't heal quickly, he would die here.

Night Owl focused his attention and began to heal his wounds using the meditation method Saffir had taught him. But suddenly, he discovered that the power within his body was being gradually stripped away, disappearing bit by bit, and the unbearable thirst and burning sensation also vanished.

"No...no!!!"

Mephisto in Hell looked pale and sickly. It's hard to imagine that this old devil, who has lived for who knows how long, would one day call someone a devil, but that's how he knew Batman from Arkham.

This kid somehow got hold of the coordinates of the hell dimension, drove his beat-up car into it, and didn't even brake when he hit me, just ran me over.

That's all fine. The car, at an unscientific and unmagical speed, "whooshed" into the filming location for "Divine Comedy" that Mephisto had arranged for Chris.

That was a scene he had painstakingly built over several months! And it was all destroyed by that wrecked car!!!

Chris had already promised to direct "Divine Comedy." His focus was entirely on building the Heaven scenes, but then his house caught fire, and the Hell scenes he'd already built were destroyed!

Although Mephisto was omnipotent in his own dimension, constructing a movie set that was both faithful to the original story and aesthetically pleasing to humans still required a great deal of effort. He could already imagine how many people would praise the exquisite set after the movie's release. The moment the set shattered, Mephisto felt his heart break along with it.

Mephisto was so angry he wanted to kill someone. But the culprit just got out of the car, stepped on the shard of sculpture he had been working on for so long, and said righteously, "Go ahead and kill me if you dare, and see if the Sorcerer Supreme will come after you."

Mephisto's outstretched claws stopped abruptly. The Sorcerer Supreme in his mind wasn't Strange, but the Ancient One.

This isn't even a question worth considering. Even when nothing's wrong, the Ancient One will cause him trouble. If a magic school student were to die at his hands, the Ancient One would probably rip up Hell Dimension.

"My life is miserable!" Mephisto cried out in his mind. But that was all he did; his attention then turned to Batman Arkham.

"You broke my things, human. How do you plan to compensate me?!"

"Are you saying that I traveled all the way here, ran you over with my car, and messed up your house, just to find a reason to compensate you?"

Mephisto choked. He decided to get straight to the point: "You've got some talent, kid. You have the potential to become the Sorcerer Supreme. Want to come work for me?"

"Sure, but I have conditions."

"Talk about it."

"Tear up that piece of trash Night Owl's contract."

"Well, even though I'm a devil, devils keep their word. Once a contract is made, it can't be easily broken..."

Arkham Batman surveys the surrounding ruins.

Where did you get the idea that it was 'easy'?

Mephisto was speechless again. Although he didn't know how the other had done it, it seemed to have taken considerable effort. It was something most people couldn't do.

“I only signed the contract with him a short time ago, and he broke it so quickly. This will affect my reputation.”

“I assure you that continuing your contract with him will have an even greater impact on your reputation,” Arkham Batman said. “He couldn’t even beat me with your powers, isn’t that embarrassing enough?”

"Uh..." Mephisto thought that what Arkham Batman said actually made some sense. If Night Owl were even slightly useful, this guy wouldn't have been able to break into the Hell dimension so easily.

Mephisto was also quite curious about what Night Owl was up to. You were bullied so badly by these Batmen, and instead of immediately eliminating them after gaining such power, you gave them time to create magical bombs, build magical flying cars, determine the coordinates of the Hell Dimension, and open a portal there. Doesn't that mean you got the power and did absolutely nothing?

To reiterate, Mephisto is a ruthless devil driven by self-interest. He'll treat anyone who brings him profit like a father, but anyone who has no value to him will be immediately discarded.

When Schiller approached Mephisto and asked him to sign a Batman contract, Mephisto felt something was off. Schiller had always been wary of him; why would he recommend a good one?

I was originally planning to observe further, but now it seems unnecessary. This one who came to me on its own is much more appealing.

"Fine, I can break the contract with him and stop providing him with power. But that's not the key point. The key point is, what do you want?"

"I need strength."

“What I mean is, what do you need this power for?” Mephisto said.

"Are you from the tax bureau? Do you need to investigate where the expenses are going?"

Mephisto was taken aback again. He forced a smile and said, "This is a necessary procedure. Besides, I have to allocate power based on the nature of what you want to do. For example, Night Owl said he wanted revenge on you, so I gave him plenty of power. What do you want power for? Do you want revenge on him too?"

"I want to beat up the Sorcerer Supreme."

"what?!"

“I said I was going to beat the Sorcerer Supreme up. After that guy blew me up, he tried to make peace. He can’t escape this beating.”

"I think sometimes it's better to prioritize peace," Mephisto said tactfully. "Besides, it wasn't the Sorcerer Supreme who bombed you, so there's no need for such a wide-ranging impact, is there?"

Whether it's necessary or not is not up to you to decide.

Mephisto was genuinely about to curse. What was wrong with these Batmen? They were all like rocks in a latrine, and the one in front of him was especially hard; he could shut someone up after just three sentences.

“That won’t do,” Mephisto said. “No matter how much power I give you, you still can’t beat the Sorcerer Supreme. Besides, the Sorcerer Supreme now has a teacher who is infamous throughout the universe, so you’re even less likely to beat him.”

"That's because you're useless," Arkham Batman said with a hint of disdain. "It's because you can't give me enough power that I can't beat him. Never mind, consider this a wasted trip. I'll go ask the Great Shadow."

After saying that, he got into the car and was about to leave. Mephisto quickly stopped him and said, "Wait, don't go. The Great Shadow Demon isn't as easy to talk to as I am; he might not even be willing to lend you his power. My prices are fair and reasonable; think it over again..."
