Chapter 3998 MU: The Superbody Incident (Seventy-Eight)
"Don't move," Jarvis suddenly said. "You're in a minefield. It's best not to move, or you could be blown to bits at any moment."
The main universe's Iron Man froze. He finally realized he'd forgotten to specify the coordinates when he went through the portal. But he couldn't help looking back at the portal and saying, "How can there be a portal inside a minefield?"
“Because we need to clear the mines later,” Jarvis said. “They can’t break in, but we have to break through. Our spaceships are also vulnerable to these mines. That’s why we set up the portal to facilitate mine clearance.”
"Is it okay if I just go back?"
"It's possible, but it's best to set the mech to the lowest output and avoid large energy fluctuations, otherwise it's still possible to trigger a gravity trap. It would be terrible if it got captured."
Iron Man in the main universe had no other choice but to fly back little by little. Fortunately, the portal that had transported him was only a few dozen meters away, and there were no dangerous objects within a hundred meters of the portal. He could just slowly move over there.
Just then, he suddenly heard a noise around him. Turning his head to the side, he saw a small black dot rapidly enlarging, followed by a somewhat familiar figure appearing not far away. The newcomer was wearing a red and blue uniform, clearly Superman.
"There really is someone here," the other person exclaimed. "You're not here to set a trap, are you?"
“I just came to check things out,” the main universe Iron Man said defiantly. “I was originally planning to go back, but since you’re here, we can exchange a few blows.”
“I advise you not to do this,” Jarvis said. “First of all, you can’t beat Superman, and secondly, if the two of you fight here, you’ll definitely get blown up. You should go back now.”
Even the main universe's Iron Man hesitated. He wasn't some born war maniac who would fight even if he knew he couldn't win, especially with the portal right in front of him; there was no real need to fight.
Thinking this, the main universe Iron Man moved a little closer to the portal. But just then, the portal flashed, and another person appeared—the same Asgardian he had encountered in the mining site.
"I knew it!" the other person said, rubbing their forehead. "I saw the portal's glow was off when you left, so I knew you'd gone the wrong way. I teleported to several different locations before I found you. How did you end up in this minefield?"
The main universe's Iron Man opened his mouth to speak, but the other person had already seen Superman. Startled, the other person shouted, "What?! An enemy?! Allfather, grant me power!!!"
The Asgardians charged forward, weapons in hand. Iron Man from the main universe tried to stop them but couldn't; he quickly shouted, "Stop! This is a minefield!!!"
"Run!" Jarvis shouted. "They might be okay if they get blown up, but you're dead! Get out of the portal right now!"
Iron Man from the main universe also took off running. The instant he passed through the portal, a violent explosion occurred behind him. Because so many bombs detonated, it was unclear which one went off first, but a series of explosions followed.
Emerging from the portal, the main universe Iron Man took a deep breath, then quickly heard Professor X's voice: "Main universe Iron Man, your mech's coordinates indicate you are not at your designated location. Where did you go? It's best not to be on the battlefield... God! What happened?!"
Professor X was clearly too preoccupied to care about the main universe's Iron Man, but the main universe's Iron Man was somewhat guilty. Upon returning to the outpost, he still truthfully reported what had happened.
Meanwhile, the command center was bustling like a marketplace. They had discovered a series of explosions in Sector 12 of the eastern defense line, even though the Green Lantern Fleet had withdrawn from the front lines two hours earlier. So what had exploded?
The answer is: they blew up all four Supermen. The Asgardian escaped through the portal before the explosions even began.
After the Asgardians roared and charged forward, Superman was forced to fight back. The space seemed spacious, but it was actually full of hidden mines. Superman was forced to retreat under a series of attacks, and eventually stepped into a gravity trap, which threw him aside.
He was flung above a magnetic storm mine. The powerful electromagnetic field erupted instantly, disrupting its biofield and causing him to lose control of his body. He fell erratically in one direction and crashed into the solar bomb.
He realized the thing had a high energy level, but by the time he tried to fly back, it was too late. Asgardians could pass through the portal, but the portal wasn't open to enemies. Even though Superman could fly at near-light speed, he still needed to travel a distance to accelerate, and his initial speed wasn't fast. He was blasted away before he could even fly out.
When the other Supermen realized he hadn't returned, they came looking for him. As a result, the exploding solar bomb detonated other bombs, blowing up the three Supermen who came looking for him.
In the end, two even stronger Supermen used massive freezing breaths to stop the chain of explosions and save their four companions.
The first Superman to be blown up was in the worst condition, practically on the verge of death. The remaining three fared slightly better, but still lost even the most basic ability to move. Clearly, when they arrived, they forgot to remind themselves that they were made of steel.
However, even an iron body wouldn't seem to be of much use against a direct fusion explosion. Moreover, this solar bomb was an upgraded and enhanced version by Dr. Otto, with adamantium fragments at its center, making it extremely destructive. When the first Superman was taken to the emergency room, even Batman almost couldn't bear to watch.
Standing outside the emergency room, Batman from the main universe realized that all the preparations he thought he had made for himself were still insufficient. And the enemy had truly been preparing for a brutal and devastating all-out war for some time.
The four Supermen suffered significant losses; at the very least, their mine-clearing efficiency was greatly reduced. The other Supermen, knowing the threat could harm them, were hesitant to advance and could only push inwards little by little from the edge. But the enemy's replenishment speed was even more disheartening.
“We can’t wait any longer,” said the main universe Batman. “Wonder Woman must quickly infiltrate from the Western Front and force them to commit troops there.”
“They must have deployed people to defend the western front,” said Wonder Woman from the main universe. “We should send a reconnaissance team first to see what kind of defenses they have set up, so that we can make targeted arrangements.”
“That’s the problem. Once the reconnaissance team is discovered, our intentions will be exposed. We might as well just rush in and fight them, whoever they are,” said the main universe Batman.
The main universe's Wonder Woman thought for a moment, then nodded and said, "I don't think they'll guess you'd send us, since our divine power is hard to replenish. I just hope we don't run into any particularly troublesome ones."
"Probably not. I think it'll most likely be Captain America and Spider-Man. All the mutants should be gathered behind the outpost, in the direction of their real base in the Andromeda Galaxy, so that they can better protect their main base."
The main universe's Wonder Woman nodded. She immediately went out to gather her companions, this time not bringing too many people, only six Wonder Women, making a total of seven including herself. They weren't actually going to storm the outpost, but rather to exert some pressure in that direction.
The main universe's Wonder Woman quickly located the battle site. Using their divine powers to conceal themselves, they slowly flew towards the outpost. Just as they were about to become visible, an energy alarm was suddenly triggered.
"Oh, damn it." Wonder Woman gritted her teeth, staring at the magic bell floating in mid-air. She lashed out with her whip, sending the thing flying. But it was no use; the outpost had already received a warning.
Captain America, who was on patrol at the outpost, immediately set off. The three of them formed a small team, mostly using the shields provided to them by the central universe as propulsion devices, flying at top speed towards the location where the alarm had been issued.
Leading the charge was Captain America from the main universe. He called out to Wonder Woman upon seeing her, but she clearly couldn't hear him. Without further ado, they immediately began fighting. Captain America also sent messages to his other counterparts, and the nearest team arrived, resulting in a 6-on-7 victory.
At first, both sides were cautious, constantly testing each other. Captain America, in the main universe, rode his skateboard, skillfully dodging Wonder Woman's whip. Wonder Woman tried several times to throw her lasso to bind Captain America, but failed each time.
"Get his skateboard over here first!" another Wonder Woman whispered. "Without propulsion, he can't fly!"
The main universe's Wonder Woman nodded. She symbolically charged forward, as if preparing for close combat. The main universe's Captain America switched to his shield form, holding it once more to meet Wonder Woman's punch.
The main universe's Wonder Woman first feinted with a left hook, and while the main universe's Captain America raised his shield, she quietly wrapped her whip around him with her other hand. A flash of divine power emanated from her body, and she quickly created a distance of more than 20 meters. Then, she forcefully pulled on the Lasso of Truth.
With a "whoosh," the shield in Captain America's hand was ripped away. Then, Wonder Woman in the main universe pulled back with her Lasso of Truth, and the shield flew directly back into her hand.
"Hmph." The Wonder Woman from the main universe chuckled, even slipping her arm into the shield handle in Captain America's signature pose. Just as she was about to say something, she saw Captain America from the main universe calmly put one hand on his hip and beckon to her with the other.
The main universe's Wonder Woman didn't react in time and didn't have a chance to pull her hand out of the handle. As a result, she was carried back to the main universe's Captain America by the shield.
The two collided with a loud bang. Captain America from the main universe was prepared and blocked with his arm, while Wonder Woman from the main universe was hit squarely. In the instant of dizziness, Captain America from the main universe threw another punch, followed by a rear-naked choke, which, despite the absence of ground, directly caused Wonder Woman to lose her balance.
Captain America, who was fighting other Wonder Women nearby, saw this and rushed over, quickly pinning down the main universe Wonder Woman.
But Wonder Woman was, after all, a demigod. Her bracelet glowed, and she roared:
"Well!!!!"
The moment the divine light erupted, all the charging Captain Americas were blasted away. The other Wonder Women seized the opportunity, and in the instant they lost their balance, they released their Lasso of Truth, instantly binding all three Captain Americas.
Seeing the situation was not good, Captain America in the main universe first used his shield to knock away a Wonder Woman who was trying to rush over, then reached out and pulled back a Captain America who was tied up, while also pressing the communicator to call for help with his other hand.
Seconds later, a roar echoed from the edge of the universe: "Hulk!!!"
I've been incredibly busy lately.
