Chapter 4031 MU Superbody Major Event (111)
Chapter 4031 MU: The Superbody Incident (111)
Their plan succeeded, even though Batman wasn't their target. Actually, it was pretty much the same. After all, they were returning to the same base. If Batman could sense something was amiss, he would definitely have noticed Hal's strange behavior.
Steve was initially reluctant to agree with the plan. After all, the crystal was a powerful artifact. Giving it away like that seemed like aiding the enemy. But Charles quickly convinced him: "Think about it, if it were a good thing, Schiller would want it even if we didn't. But we previously offered to do joint research with Tony, and Tony refused, and Schiller didn't say anything either, which proves that it's really useless."
Steve thought about it and agreed. Schiller was a master at turning trash into treasure; he always said, "Trash is just a resource in the wrong place." If he wasn't interested, then this stuff probably really wasn't useful.
Moreover, what makes this thing unique is that its functions sound incredibly powerful, and its design is quite intimidating—it's clearly something extraordinary. Even if Batman figured it out and could activate it, he would never use it lightly. He's just here for training, not as a terrorist; why would he want to destroy the universe?
He can't use it, he can't return it, and he has to bear the risks and curses it might bring. It's safe to say that no matter where Batman goes, he always faces a dilemma. The Joker is still chasing me.
Now, let's talk about the situation on the field. Hal actually sensed something. When he came out from the other side of the portal, he felt that his energy had suddenly decreased significantly.
It wasn't the energy he was currently using, but his reserves. He had brought plenty of energy with him this time, and after just one teleportation, he had used up more than half of it. Hal's heart skipped a beat.
No? What happened? I just led some people through a portal, how could it cost so much energy?
Hal knew that, generally speaking, the greater the mass of the object being carried, the more energy is required. But there were only two of them. Was there something special about this Green Lantern?
Hal used Green Light energy to treat the wounded while checking his condition. But after checking, he found nothing unusual. He also checked his own equipment, but found nothing extra. This was truly strange.
The main universe's Batman probably noticed him not moving for a while on the monitor, so he asked, "What's wrong?"
"It's nothing. The portal I just set up might have malfunctioned." Hal ultimately decided to attribute the problem to the portal breaking down due to the hasty rescue. He said, "I used up most of my energy, and I might need your energy to replenish it when we get back."
“No problem,” the main universe Batman said. “If we really run out of energy, we can just pull back.”
Hal shook his head; he wasn't completely powerless, still possessing considerable energy. He first settled the wounded, then returned to the battlefield.
By this time, Green Lantern had pushed the defensive line inwards a bit. Hal charged to the front, preparing to launch another assault and drive back the Captain Americas in front.
With a flick of his wrist, a bow and arrow formed from green light energy appeared in his hand. He had learned a few tricks from Oliver, and now his archery skills were superb. These energy arrows were perfect for taking down Captain America.
Hal raised his hand and fired, two energy arrows hitting Captain America's shield. Although they failed to break through the opponent's defense, the great impact sent the opponent flying dozens of meters away.
Captain America's mobility is limited; he relies almost entirely on the thrust provided by his shield to move through space. These few dozen meters, though not far, are enough for him to fly for a while. HAL then used the same method to shoot at another Captain America.
When Captain America is repelled, Green Lantern can take the opportunity to press forward and gradually erode their tactical space.
Just as Hal drew his bow again, intending to use the green light's energy to condense an arrow, he suddenly discovered that the green light's energy was exhausted.
Hal was now completely baffled. He didn't have much energy left, but it was enough to fire a few hundred arrows. How could it be gone again?
Hal was puzzled, but he still had to retreat quickly. If he waited any longer, his personal shield wouldn't hold, and he'd be beaten to a pulp by the enemy.
He stepped back to check his energy consumption, only to find that several of his colleagues around him had also stepped back, all checking their lamp rings and lamp furnaces, and all looking equally puzzled.
"Um... I don't know why, but my energy is running out a bit fast. I'm almost out of power."
"You're out of power too? Me too. That's strange, could it be because I was hit too many times today, causing my shield to drain too quickly?"
"I'm out of power too. Does anyone have any spare lamps? We can't keep fighting like this..."
The Green Lanterns' repeated retreats naturally caught the attention of their teammates. The Martian Manhunter from the main universe turned around and asked, "What's wrong? Are you out of energy?"
After receiving an affirmative answer, the Martian Hunter from the main universe frowned. He compared the intensity of this battle with the previous one and found they were on completely different levels. In the previous battle, he had materialized a spaceship and fought the Asgardians to a standstill, even having energy reserves when retreating. How come he ran out of power as soon as he entered today's battle?
The Martian hunters in the main universe suspected that they hadn't charged properly, but they were too embarrassed to say so, so they could only tell them, "Step back a little, so your shields don't break."
That's all we can do now. The retreating Green Lanterns were unwilling, but they knew that moving forward without energy would mean certain death. Hal even said directly, "Let's gather our energy, open a portal to go back and recharge, maybe we can still make it in time for the last wave."
The Green Lanterns agreed; they were out of energy and couldn't play, so they might as well go back to recharge and make it to the second half. So they gathered their energy, opened a portal, and went back.
The main universe's Batman sensed something was amiss and tried to stop them from returning, but the Green Lanterns moved swiftly and were already back over Apokolips.
They flew back as planned, but unexpectedly, they were bounced away when they reached the Apokolips shield.
"What's going on?!" Hal frowned and said, "Don't we have whitelist access? What is Darkseid up to?!"
The main universe's Batman didn't know what was going on, so he contacted Darkseid. Darkseid replied that there was no problem, but the Green Lanterns couldn't get in no matter what.
The main universe's Batman couldn't help but wonder: Could it be that Darkseid did something?
Darkseid quickly detected the anomaly, but it wasn't a problem with the shield recognition system; rather, the shield had been subjected to a violent impact. This impact was so severe that it almost shattered the shield in one blow.
"Batman!!!" Darkseid appeared in the command center and roared at Batman, "What's going on?! They've already come to our doorstep, and you're still sitting here?!"
The main universe's Batman looked at him with some confusion and said, "They've come knocking on our door? Who's come knocking?"
"Apokolips's shield has been hit hard. Could it be that the enemy attacked?!"
“You are the master of the Apocalypse Domain. You are invincible within the Apocalypse Domain. You can see for yourself who attacked, instead of coming to me.”
Darkseid took a deep breath, felt it, and then his expression suddenly darkened.
“Green Lantern,” Darkseid said, “Green Lantern is attacking Apokolips’s shield. Make them stop immediately, Batman!!”
The main universe's Batman was even more confused. He said, "Why is Green Lantern attacking the shield? They should be able to fly in directly if they're on the whitelist, so why are they attacking your shield?"
"That's a question for you, Batman, isn't it?" Darkseid's expression grew increasingly grim. He wondered if Batman knew Mephisto had come to him and was planning to strike first.
Even Batman in the main universe has his doubts: Could it be that Darkseid is about to break off relations?
Although the two are currently cooperating, this alliance is not stable. If Darkseid finds a better ally, he will surely be abandoned. Today's incident might very well be a scheme orchestrated by Darkseid himself to stir up trouble.
The main universe's Batman took a deep breath and decided to prioritize the bigger picture. He immediately said into the communicator, "Hal, don't come back yet. I'll send someone to deliver energy to you."
Upon hearing this, Hal stopped what he was doing. The main universe Batman immediately went to find the Green Lanterns who remained behind and asked them to deliver the lamps to Hal and the others. Because of concerns that it might be a Darkseid trap, the main universe Batman had to send several more Green Lanterns.
Meanwhile, in the prison of the Apokolips base. Goat hooves trod on the smooth, cold floor, their long black horns reflecting a chilling light. Schiller, disguised as Mephisto, smiled at the person behind the bars and said, "I told you the guards would leave soon. Now you remember me, don't you?"
Star-Lord was peering over the railing and noticed that the green light energy outside had indeed disappeared. He swallowed hard and asked, "What did you do to them?"
Instead of worrying about them, worry about yourselves. Aren't you leaving yet?
"Quick, quick! Rocket!" Star-Lord grabbed Rocket Raccoon and shoved Gamora, who was still sleeping nearby, awake. Groot and Drax also scrambled to their feet, wiping the drool from their faces. Star-Lord used his hidden laser knife to cut through the fence and sneaked out.
"Don't forget what you promised me." Schiller's voice rang in Star-Lord's ears, then faded away.
Apokolips is Darkseid's territory, and theoretically, he should be able to detect everything that happens there. But Darkseid is currently filled with vigilance and suspicion, repeatedly pondering the possibility of Batman suddenly turning against him, and has no time to care about the prison.
The main universe's Batman shouldn't have had to redeploy prison guards, but he was far too suspicious of Darkseid. After all, Green Lantern's sudden power outage, his inability to enter Apokolips, and Darkseid's claim of an attack on Apokolips all seemed like prelude to a falling out. He had to be cautious.
The two were so engrossed in their battle of wits that they completely failed to notice that the Guardians of the Galaxy had already fled, even taking a spaceship from Apokolips with them.
Schiller stood on Apokolips, watching them leave, then gazed at the horizon towards Darkseid Palace, and said softly, "If there is no demand, create demand. You have no other choice, Your Majesty."
"What did you say?!" Batman from the main universe exclaimed, staring at Flash. "The Guardians of the Galaxy ran away?!"
He whirled around, staring at Darkseid behind him, his eyes no longer concealing the intense coldness and killing intent. His deep voice echoed in the room: "What explanation do you have, Darkseid?!"
