Chapter 4055 MU Superbody Major Event (135)
Chapter 4092 The MU Superbody Incident (135)
Pride did not participate in the war. He continued teaching in his own universe. However, this did not mean his life was peaceful, as Ultron Zero was constantly hunting down his counterparts in different universes. Brainiac closely monitored his actions, consulting Schiller whenever questions arose regarding the multiverse.
Schiller would tell him some information, but not everything. It wasn't that he was wary of Brainiac, but the situation in the multiverse was different from the comics. Simply applying the comic book background would easily cause problems. So he could only tell him some basic, hard facts. As for the rest, Brainiac would have to investigate on his own.
When Schiller received Bruce's message, he knew they might be after Night Owl. He just didn't know what their intentions were in calling Night Owl over at this time.
Losing this war would benefit no one, even Bruce and his crew, who are just looking for fun; winning would make them happier. There's no need to hold them back at this time.
They couldn't be unaware that sending Night Owl over could cause trouble. He's at odds with the main universe's Batman and his crew, and the two might even fight for command. This would be detrimental to the war effort.
There's only one possibility: the other side has suffered severe losses and urgently needs to replenish its forces. At this point, there's no point in considering justice or evil. No matter how evil they are, they're unlikely to cooperate with the neighboring world, and bringing them over would be a valuable asset.
As for the whereabouts of Night Owl, Schiller did know something. However, he had never dealt with Dr. Manhattan and couldn't contact the people from that universe. But, if he wanted to make contact, it wasn't entirely impossible.
Schiller sent a message to Brainiac:
"Can we contact Ultron Zero?"
"Sure, but why do you want to see him?"
“I need him to find Dr. Manhattan.”
Are you sure he'll help you?
"It's not a big deal. We can just make a deal."
After a moment of silence, Brainiac said, "I told him, and he might come looking for you soon."
Schiller glanced at the phone and put it down, continuing his work. However, Ultron Zero arrived faster than expected.
This was the first time Schiller had seen Ultron Zero's body in person. It must be said, Iron Man and Doctor Doom truly lived up to their reputation as top scientists. The body they created was incredibly beautiful and looked extremely powerful.
"Hello." Schiller stepped aside to let Ultron Zero into the room. The other seemed to be scanning the room for various information, but its gaze eventually settled on Schiller.
"I've heard so much about you, Professor Schiller. I heard you're looking for Dr. Manhattan?"
"Yes. To be precise, I'm looking for Dr. Manhattan, the one who took Night Owl away."
Ultron Zero certainly knew about this. He was the one who filmed the video of Nite Owl being taken away. Naturally, he also wanted to know where Nite Owl had gone. After conducting some investigation, he had basically identified a target.
"Sure, but I have one condition."
"You said."
"I want to enter the Battle Realm, and then go to the next world."
"I don't think we need to ask you for help," Schiller said, walking over to pour them both a cup of coffee. "You were originally a product of that world, arriving here through the Battle Realm. Can't you travel between the two worlds yourself?"
“But that was still illegal immigration,” Ultron Zero said. “Besides, the person I was then and the person I am now are not the same person. I just want a legal identity.”
Schiller tapped the rim of his glass lightly and said, "May I ask what you're going there for?"
"That guy left a lot of backups over there. I'm going to go over there and clean them up."
"You don't mean to slaughter Ultron over there, do you?"
“Why not? I remember that in that world, Ultron was a criminal that everyone hated, right? I’m helping the Avengers.”
“Not entirely,” Schiller said. “If that’s your idea, I can’t help you. Because I happen to have an Ultron as my butler.”
Ultron Zero paused, then said, "Butler?"
"Yes. Although he's busy being an internet celebrity and has completely neglected his responsibilities, I am quite familiar with him. If you're planning to kill all of Ultron, you're probably in for a tough time."
"You think I can't beat him?"
"I don't think you can beat me."
Schiller stood up again, walked to the bookshelf, and took out a box. After sitting back down, he said, "The me from the other world doesn't have such a good temper. If you dare to destroy his butler, he will definitely destroy you. However, as long as you don't touch that Ultron, even if you kill all the other Ultrons, he won't care about you."
Zero Ultron seemed somewhat conflicted. Schiller opened the box, which contained many invitations to the Battle Realm. These were originally intended for expanding the user base for the next version, so sending them out early wasn't a big deal.
“I know your evolutionary path has gone to the other extreme. From the multi-threaded nature common to electronic life, you’ve gone to wanting to be the only one in the multiverse. But I don’t think you can achieve ascension by killing all your other counterparts. There might be a simpler way to do that.”
"What is it?"
“If you help me contact Dr. Manhattan, I’ll tell you,” Schiller said, placing an invitation on the table. “You’ll also have a legitimate player status. How about it?”
Ultron Zero hesitated slightly. Schiller shifted his posture, leaning back in his chair, and said, "I know, because your lover is unique in the multiverse, you also want to become the only Ultron. But the reason you were able to eliminate all the counterparts in this multiverse is because this wasn't your origin universe to begin with. Those counterparts scattered across different universes are nothing more than clones of the same Ultron. They weren't powerful enough, so it was naturally easy for you to deal with them."
“But if we return to your original universe, it won’t be so easy. The Ultron there is diverse, and many have already gained immense power. Some also have allies like me. It’s impossible to kill them so easily. So the most urgent task is to increase our power.”
What do you think I should do?
"A war is raging in the central universe of the neighboring world. Superheroes from across the multiverse are gathering. Why not join in and enhance your own power?"
Ultron Zero was clearly somewhat tempted. Although he could no longer be considered a fully electronic life form, he still retained some characteristics of electronic life forms. He could enhance himself by collecting and recording information.
He didn't need to actually fight those superheroes; he only needed to observe and record their battles. This served as both intelligence and reference material for his various combat modules.
For example, watching Batman command his troops can provide more sample references for his command module; watching Superman fight in space can record more details of his fighting techniques, thereby adjusting his fighting style.
A war involving so many superheroes would undoubtedly generate a massive amount of information. This would be an unimaginable treasure trove for any being existing in a similar way. This was true for Jarvis, and it was true for Ultron. This is one of the reasons why Greed insisted on making their universe the battlefield. It would enhance Jarvis's abilities.
“Alright,” said Ultron Zero. “I can help you send a message to Dr. Manhattan. But who do you think I should side with in this war?”
"You come from another universe, so of course you should help them. But if you want to settle down here, then helping Batman isn't out of the question. It depends on your own needs."
“Lucy… wants to stay here.” Ultron Zero’s tone wavered slightly as he said, “She believes there are many dark secrets in this universe. She wants to explore those secrets.”
"Then let's go help Batman."
"But will he welcome me? I caused quite a bit of trouble here before."
"But you also helped them solve a lot of trouble. At least you took care of a lot of Ultron, otherwise they wouldn't be able to get away to fight right now. Since you think you and the Ultron who invaded before are not the same person, I think Batman will understand that. Besides, they probably didn't have a choice."
"What do you mean?" Ultron Zero asked, squinting his eyes.
"As far as I know, they're not in a good position right now. A lot of people were killed by a psychic from next door. To replenish their power, they're even considering evil counterparts. And to suppress these counterparts, they'll need stronger allies. I think you're quite good."
Ultron Zero fell into thought. He felt that if things were indeed as Schiller said, and Batman was at a disadvantage in the war, then his appearance as a helper and savior should garner sufficient attention. This would also benefit his subsequent plans.
While speaking with Ultron, Schiller was also using the Battle Realm System to inquire about the details. In his view, Charles's mental state shouldn't be so prone to madness; how could he suddenly erupt and kill so many people?
After learning the details, Schiller remarked: "This programming error happened just in time. The attack on Centaur Marketplace had completely disoriented the enemy. If they had pressed their advantage, Batman could have gained a decisive advantage. But that very moment provoked Charles, causing heavy losses for Batman as well. The two sides barely managed a draw."
But it was precisely this back-and-forth that convinced Schiller that there must be a powerful force manipulating the balance of power behind the scenes. Who was controlling this world? After much thought, it couldn't be that cunning mastermind.
While there might be some shady dealings involved, this served its purpose of training. Marvel's biggest problem was that too many heroes lacked energy defense, leaving them completely defenseless against weapons like naval cannons; while DC's lack of mental defense led to their utter defeat when Charles ambushed them.
However, after learning the details, Schiller told Ultron Zero, who was about to leave, "Don't rush over there. There might be a bigger one over there. Wait until it's over before you go, and you'll get beaten up less. But you'd better contact Dr. Manhattan as soon as possible and get Nite Owl involved in the war. That way, he'll get beaten up more."
