Chapter 4057 MU Superbody Major Event (137)
Chapter 4057 MU: The Superbody Incident (137)
The main universe's Batman stared at him silently. As a shadowy, crawling DC character, how could he not understand this twisted relationship? It was just that Eric could say it so calmly that it revealed a kind of calm madness different from that of their world.
Or rather, people in this universe all have this feeling. They take some very crazy things for granted.
The reason why DC sometimes feels dark and oppressive is that there are too many undercurrents hidden beneath the surface, lurking between the lines and in every action, giving people a lot of room for interpretation. It seems to be hinting, but it always feels like you are overthinking it.
This sense of uncertainty adds a lot of mystery to the plot, creating a Gothic mystical atmosphere, as if all people and things are shrouded in lead gray and cold blue, like the damp ruins left by the last rain before winter.
Marvel, on the other hand, feels intense and vibrant, with all sorts of conflicts laid bare. Everyone is straightforward; when things are good, they're inseparable, but when things are bad, they're so fierce they'd want to punch a dog out of its head. Many stories lay bare the strengths and weaknesses of the superheroes, allowing readers to analyze them carefully.
However, these stories are not so relaxing to read. They are very enjoyable at first, but upon closer inspection, something seems wrong, and you suddenly realize that everything was wrong from the beginning.
This results in both sides having their own abnormalities. The abnormalities of DC's heroes seem more obvious; but Marvel's heroes seem more normal, perhaps because the world they represent is even more abnormal.
Batman in the main universe could clearly sense that the people in the central universe were used to the abnormal. Whether it was driving the Earth like a bumper car or agreeing to turn their own home into a battlefield—these insane ideas that Batman would absolutely never agree to even if given a thousand or ten thousand chances or a knife to his throat—not a single person here raised any objections.
Magneto was used to his twisted relationship with his old friend and nemesis, a relationship that had been entangled for many years. He felt neither pain nor pleasure, nor was he numb. He genuinely felt there was nothing wrong with it.
The main universe's Batman really wants to ask him: Is it because the greedy consultation fees are too expensive that you would rather stay like this and not see a psychiatrist?
But he also knew that none of that mattered. Now he was more curious about what exactly was going on with the so-called four Omega mutant children.
“Franklin is the youngest of them,” Eric told Batman without reservation. “His father was a scientist, and his mother was his assistant. Then there’s Thomas Rogers, whose father was Captain America and whose mother was a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. The Billy brothers are my grandsons; their mother is Scarlet Witch, and their father is a cybernetic life form.”
What abilities do they all possess?
“It’s hard to say,” Eric said after thinking for a moment. “To an ordinary person like you, each of them could be called a god.”
"Tell me more details," the main universe Batman persisted.
"Franklin has every superpower you can imagine, but I think his greatest strength is his ability to create universes at will. The Apocalypse Domain that you're currently relying on could be created by him in the time it takes to eat breakfast—seven or eight of them. Thomas can directly control dark matter—yes, the dark matter that makes up the vast majority of the universe's mass. You're a scientist, you should understand the power of this ability better than I do."
"As for the Billy brothers, we still don't quite understand them. It seems that one can arouse emotions, and the other can destroy them. They are the two culprits behind my sleeplessness. Every time they cry, Wanda and I have to stop them quickly, otherwise the whole of New York will cry until the next morning."
Eric sighed, shook his head, and said, "Now that Wanda is gone, it's hard for me to keep an eye on four at once. Oh, I forgot to mention, Wanda is pregnant with another one, who I heard is going to inherit her mother's Crimson Power. Then we'll have five Omega-level mutants."
The main universe's Batman saw a deep sense of despair on Eric's face. But he didn't really grasp the meaning of what Eric was saying.
Because these abilities are set up to be far too powerful, or more accurately, completely beyond the comprehension of ordinary people. Even something as simple as creating a universe is something never heard of in Lucifer's cosmology classes—Lucifer himself didn't possess such an ability. Now, are you telling him that a child of a few years old has this ability, and does so at will without any cost? Is that reasonable?
And then there's dark matter. Let's put it this way: the entire universe is made up of dark matter. If we can control dark matter, wouldn't that be equivalent to being able to control anything?
And emotions, being such an abstract concept, whose origins and destinations are unknown, are perhaps the strongest evidence for the existence of God. What's the difference between someone who can control emotions and God?
These abilities are all too abstract and ethereal, even more so than Magneto's and Professor X's. This means Batman can only understand their abilities in theory, and has no way to implement them in reality.
The main universe's Batman came here to gather information, specifically from Professor X, because Charles had caused them significant losses. But now it seems this isn't the climax of the battle, but merely the starting point.
Just as Batman in the main universe was pondering this question, he suddenly sensed something was wrong—the sky seemed to have darkened a bit.
The main universe's Batman stood in the corridor, looking out the window at the sky. Apokolips's light source came from its outer shield; the entire Apokolips domain wasn't dark, but rather constantly glowed with a faint light.
But, whether it was his imagination or not, he felt the light had dimmed slightly, as if the entire planet was about to run out of power, or somewhat like a rainy day on Earth. Are the dark clouds of Gotham still chasing me?
As it turned out, he was overthinking it; this time it wasn't dark clouds, but dark matter.
“Batman, you need to see this.” Martian Manhunter’s voice echoed in the mind of the main universe’s Batman.
The main universe's Batman rushed over there, and they arrived at the base's command center's monitoring laboratory. This place was mainly used to monitor changes in the cosmic environment outside Apokolips.
Then the main universe Batman saw a string of numbers on the central screen changing rapidly—that was displaying cosmic coordinates.
The main universe's Batman was momentarily speechless. He paused, then said, "Is the monitor malfunctioning again?"
“This time it’s probably not,” Martian Hunter said, standing by the table. “Apokolips is moving, and it’s moving faster and faster.”
"Batman!!!" Darkseid's roar echoed from upstairs. By the time the main universe's Batman looked up, he was already standing by the door.
"Are you controlling the movement of the Apocalypse Realm?" the main universe Batman asked.
"Of course not. I can only control things within the Apocalypse Domain, not move the entire domain. Otherwise, why wouldn't I be chasing Earth in Apocalypse Star?"
The main universe's Batman was momentarily speechless. He said, "So what's going on now? Why did Apokolips suddenly move?"
"That's why I came here to ask you."
The main universe's Batman immediately thought of the mutant abilities of Captain America's son, Thomas Rogers, that Eric had once told him.
"Has the dark matter reading changed?" he asked, turning his head.
The Mars hunter immediately started checking the data and said, "We haven't specifically been monitoring dark matter data, but some instruments have that capability. Let me take a look... Oh, sure enough. Dark matter is behaving abnormally. What's going on?"
The main universe's Batman didn't answer immediately. He simply said, "Is there a way to control it?"
“If we could control it, we wouldn’t need the Apocalypse Realm,” Martian Manhunter said frankly. “Dark matter makes up 85% of the total mass of the universe. If we could control dark matter, the entire universe would be our domain.”
"What if someone else can control it?"
Silence reigned in the lab. And silence was the best answer—if one of our adversaries could control dark matter, it would be tantamount to us fighting the universe itself. What could possibly be stronger than the universe itself? Perhaps we should just go home, wash up, and go to sleep.
“You mean, someone can control dark matter and then move Apokolips by manipulating it?” Darkseid asked.
The main universe's Batman nodded.
“Inconceivable,” Darkseid said.
Although Darkseid was a new god, he was also a very powerful scientist—after all, those spaceships on Apokolips didn't appear out of thin air; they were all invented and created by him. He certainly understood what this meant.
The other party is very likely squeezing dark matter to continuously push Apokolips out of a certain region. Because this squeezing is continuous, it looks as if Apokolips is hurtling at high speed.
The question now is: why would the other party do this?
The Apocalypse Realm is not Earth. Earth is only a small area; as long as you pay a little attention to the road, you won't bump into anything. But in the Apocalypse Realm, a celestial body of this size, it's difficult not to bump into something.
This is their own universe, yet they control such a huge thing to rampage through it. Do they really think the universe is too densely populated and are preparing to launch a Ragnarok across the entire universe?
Darkseid was confident in the shield of the Apocalypse Domain—most things in the universe shouldn't be able to penetrate it, and the enemy probably knew this too, otherwise they would have already launched a full-scale attack. Therefore, the possibility of depleting the shield was also out of the question. So what exactly was he trying to do?
Darkseid turned around and found Batman from the main universe looking at his phone.
"What are you looking at?"
"I'm online," the main universe Batman paused before adding, "checking when Captain America had his child in this universe."
"what?"
“Very good, about six months ago.” The main universe Batman took a deep breath. “Where do you think a human baby of about six months old would want his marbles to go?”
Darkseid seemed somewhat lost.
“Based on the current route, if we continue in a straight line, our final destination should be the capital of the Kree Empire,” Martian Hunter said, staring at the screen.
"The Kree Empire?" Batman from the main universe frowned.
"Wait! An unidentified object has been detected ahead. It's very small, but its mass-energy equivalence is changing dramatically... Oh no, we're going to crash into it!"
As Martian Manhunter finished speaking, the entire planet Apocalypse shook violently. Batman from the main universe, through monitoring equipment, saw that the seemingly rock-solid Apocalypse Domain shield, upon contact with a tiny, almost negligible black dot, instantly disintegrated like dust. The immense kinetic energy of the entire domain was neutralized, and the tiny black dot crashed into the shield, landing squarely on top of Apocalypse.
A childish voice echoed in everyone's minds: "Little Rogers, you damn bastard! I'll get Aunt Wanda to spank you!!!"
