Chapter 47 The Talent of Harmony
Chapter 47 The Talent of Harmony
Singed recently encountered a research problem:
What exactly are those armored soldiers that Smitch left in the city?
He had this question in his mind when he accompanied Hilko to clean up the corpses in the market.
However, despite repeatedly dissecting and observing the collected corpses, he still could not find the answer to his question.
Because there are just too many counterintuitive things:
Without the support of bones, how do those armored soldiers move?
Without a circulatory system, how can the bright green liquid inside those guys work?
It's simply injecting a strange, bright green drug into a mass of flesh devoid of even fibrous structure, and then pairing it with an indestructible suit of armor.
After doing this bizarre and incongruous operation, can you create armored soldiers capable of wreaking havoc?
Are you kidding me!
For Hilko, the bloody battle in the streets showed him the flaws of the Glimmers and reinforced his belief that "uniting Zaun" was his inescapable responsibility.
For Singed, however, what he saw was the invincible figure of the armored soldiers, and what he coveted was the secret to making these pieces of flesh move.
So while Hilcone temporarily set aside Urgot's threat and focused on dealing with the new troubles brought by Marcos, Singed locked himself in the laboratory, studying the body parts day and night.
He desperately needed to figure out the secret behind how these body parts could move.
Because if the answer he finally gets matches the wish in his heart, then it means that he can start a "resurrection" that he has been looking forward to for decades!
Although the research process has made progress, it has not been smooth:
The pieces of flesh were dead, and the armor was inorganic matter.
Singed quickly shifted the focus of his research to the bright green liquid that connected the two components.
At first, he thought that the greenish substance might just be some kind of energy-providing vitamin.
Just like the luminous potion injected into the luminous warriors.
But Singed quickly realized something was wrong:
That bright green liquid seems to have a very peculiar "hypnotic" effect.
When that bright green liquid is injected into live mice, only a tiny dose is needed to allow the mice to retain their responsiveness to external information even when they have completely lost all vital signs.
Watching the white mouse, whose heart had stopped beating, instinctively dodge when its tail was touched with tweezers, Singid was overwhelmed with a mixture of ecstasy and distress.
To their ecstasy, the mice turned into "living corpses."
It seems that if I understand the principle and formula of that luminous green liquid, I can reverse the effects of the medicine and revive the corpse?!
What troubled him was that even though he had a research direction, all the equipment he had was unable to analyze the true nature of that bright green liquid.
Singed's ambitions and visions were stuck in the middle, neither here nor there.
until……
"I originally planned to experiment on another behemoth in my collection to see how this magical potion from that Urgot could be used to my advantage."
"I just didn't expect things to happen so coincidentally."
Sometime during the procedure, Aaron had been restrained by the straps on the operating table—just a moment ago, Singid was clearly frightened by Aaron's gaze that seemed to be fixed on the photograph necklace around his neck.
He tied Aaron up tightly, took a step back, and hurriedly hid the necklace in his collar before slowly speaking the words above.
Aaron saw him raise the tweezers again, holding the bullet that had lodged in Aaron's shoulder, his expression agitated:
"You know what, Aaron? I really just wanted to help you heal."
"But, but..."
Singid's face showed a mixture of emotions, as if he was about to cry.
"But I never expected that the bullet contained that kind of liquid!!"
"When you were brought here, you were perfectly healthy, not at all like someone who was about to become a living dead!"
"I have to use your body! Even if I have to escape Zaun afterward, I have no choice but to do it!"
"..."
It took Singid a long time to calm down.
He looked at Aaron—
The energy that burst forth from Aaron's muscles and bones due to the luminous potion had inevitably altered his physical appearance.
This change, due to the luminous green liquid that had already been injected into Aaron's body when he was shot, was strangely stopped at a "just right" stage: it only caused Aaron's eyes to glow scarlet and his body muscles to swell up a whole circle.
Even when meeting Singid's gaze, Aaron's eyes seemed to still retain a shred of reason and consciousness.
"I'm sorry, Aaron, I really couldn't help it."
Singid let out a long sigh.
He seemed eager for Aaron's understanding and began to ramble on about his emotional journey:
"You were shot and injected with that drug, but instead of becoming one of those living dead, you remained conscious."
"Smith said that Urgot really wants you, and that should be true. There's definitely something special about you."
"I just need to inject a high concentration of micro-light simultaneously and observe the subsequent reaction; maybe I can find it in you..."
Singid suddenly stopped halfway through his speech.
Because he heard the sound of the restraints snapping—
Aaron, whose height had now increased to at least 2 meters, calmly tore off his restraints and quietly rolled off the operating table.
Those restraints were enough to trap every single one of the previous Glimmer Warriors!
"you!"
Singed looked at the "completely transformed" Aaron and backed away in horror.
Then his face immediately lit up with ecstasy, and he couldn't wait to ask Aaron how he had managed to neutralize the two potions to achieve the state he had always dreamed of!
But he probably won't have the chance to ask any more questions.
Aaron moved his jaw a couple of times, as if searching for the right way to speak, before slowly opening his mouth after a while:
"What did you find in me? Go on, tell me."
Aaron's voice was deep and hoarse.
He remained completely calm, yet he uttered words that sent shivers down Singid's spine—
"If you don't want to say it, I can say it for you."
"For example, let's talk about that secret room hidden in the southeast corner of the ditch area, and that complex and sophisticated life support system—was it built for that lucky little girl?"
Aaron walked up to Singed and grabbed him by the collar.
"Colin Levik".
"I just gave you a chance to tell the truth."
"But you just don't seem willing to answer me directly... What you really want is to resurrect your daughter!"
……
Aaron had read some martial arts novels before.
In those novels, the protagonists, after being poisoned by one kind of poison, often coincidentally get poisoned by another kind of poison that is completely opposite to it, and then the two neutralize each other, turning misfortune into good fortune.
Just like he looks now.
But in reality, Aaron didn't know any martial arts, nor did he have any extraordinary encounters.
The reason he wasn't turned into a living dead by the Reef Squad's bullet, nor into a mindless beast by the high concentration of the Glimmering Potion, was entirely due to his trump card outside the rules—
After realizing that Singed was experimenting on his body and hearing Singed explain the background, his consciousness began to blur.
The feeling was almost exactly the same as when he was shot in Stillwater Prison.
The only difference was that the irritability and urge to vent brought on by the glimmer of light were also exerting their power, trying to control his mind and make him tear everything in front of him to shreds.
The two drugs were not compatible at all; each was destroying Aaron's body and soul in its own way, comparable to the most extreme torture...
It was at that very moment.
Desperate to find a way to save himself, Aaron finally remembered something within himself that might have a miraculous effect:
Caitlin's inspiration is at an instinctive level!
To be honest, Aaron was really out of ideas.
He had used the Inspiration tool once before, and the result was that he adopted Jinx's perspective and thoroughly reviewed his modification plan for the Shadowcraft tactical mech.
So in Aaron's subconscious, inspiration should only be used to help him complete the black box order.
But when he desperately used Caitlyn's instinctive level of inspiration, an unexpected incident occurred—
He heard the black box's notification tone, piercing through his increasingly muddled mind and reaching the depths of his brain:
[Caitelin's Inspiration/Instinct Level has been used]
As the only daughter of the Giramanen family and an outstanding detective in Piltover, Caitlin seems to have a natural talent for balancing these two identities.
[Entering Caitlin's perspective...]
[Residual micro-light agent type XII and residual cleansing agent serial number ⑦ have been detected in the body; an attempt has been made to reconcile them.]
