Chapter 6 Star Magic
Chapter 6 Star Magic
After condensing the Heart of Magic, Lin Feng hadn't even had time to carefully feel the changes in his body before he became increasingly sleepy. He yawned and lost interest in continuing to tinker with magic.
"Ha, I'll check it tomorrow, I'm so sleepy."
As the moon sets and the sun rises, a few shouts from the dockworkers usher in the next morning.
Early in the morning, Duck Gigi ran out of the ball and jumped onto the bed, giving the sleeping Lin Feng a thunderous sit-up, its heavy bottom slamming into Lin Feng's stomach.
"Pfft! Holy crap!"
Lin Feng was jolted awake from his sleep. He didn't have time to mourn the pain in his stomach. Could there be anything worse than opening his eyes to see a round, bluish-purple duck head?
Hey! Of course there is, and what's worse, this stupid and ugly duck is your starter Pokémon that you can't replace!
Unable to contain his anger, Lin Feng punched Yajiji in the lewd little face and shouted angrily:
"Duck! Ji! Ji!"
A piercing scream echoed through the shopping street, drawing the attention of countless people.
……
Lin Feng sat at the dining table with a resentful look on his face, while Ya Jiji covered his face with his wings, pretending not to know anything, and devoured the cocoa fruit in front of him.
Aunt Lorraine watched the scene with amusement. The angry child was really cute!
She guessed that Lin Feng's resentment stemmed from the fact that Ya Jiji was hungry and woke up the grumpy Lin Feng, leading to the unpleasantness.
If Lin Feng knew what Aunt Luo Lin was thinking, he would probably be even more upset. Where did his morning grumpiness come from? It was clearly this stupid duckling who sat on him. Who wouldn't be angry in that situation?
"I'm finished eating! I'm going back to my room now."
After finishing his milk, Lin Feng quickly returned to his room, slammed the door shut, and locked Yajiji outside.
Aunt Lorraine smiled helplessly as she watched Lin Feng's retreating figure. After tidying up the mess on the table, her eyes lit up and she had a wicked idea.
She said to Yajiji, "It seems like Lin Feng is really angry with you!"
DuckGigi, who had been squinting, suddenly opened her eyes, lowered her head in frustration, and quacked, "Quack quack quack?"
"Hehe, I'm going out now. Duck Gigi, you'd better make up with Kobayashi Kaede before I get back!"
"Gagaga!"
……
Lin Feng ran back to his room and began flipping through his magic book. Yesterday he had condensed the Heart of Magic, and today he wanted to try learning star magic.
Although the name of the Star Magic is Star, this magic has nothing to do with stars. It simply uses magic to condense a "star" in front of the wand and throws it out to cause damage.
It's no wonder it's considered basic magic; compared to sacrificial magic, it's as simple as elementary school addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Lin Feng gripped the magic wand, and after condensing the heart of magic, it became much easier to mobilize the magic power within his body.
He channeled his magic power to gather and condense at the top of his wand, naturally forming three small runes: "Star Structure," "Material," and "Charge."
After these three individual runes condensed, the combined magic began to automatically catalyze the formation of a dark yellow star.
Lin Feng gazed curiously at the star atop the wand, pondering, "It has no weight; its attack method is to throw it and smash it. Only when it hits the target will it unleash magical damage."
He momentarily forgot to infuse his wand with magic, and the star, deprived of its magical support, fell, exploding into a halo of light the instant it hit the ground.
Lin Feng's foot was affected by the blast of magical energy; half of his foot was numb from the shock. He instinctively pulled his foot back and jumped away, clutching his ankle and grimacing.
"Holy crap!"
It took Lin Feng a while for the tingling sensation in his feet to subside. He stroked his chin and remarked, "This power is not bad? It can cause such a big impact even at the very edge of a magic burst."
"If I charged up my power a little longer... I might actually be able to crush the elf to death with star magic!"
He bent down, his index finger gently brushing across the spot where the star had exploded, picking up a few specks of dust which slid between his fingers. "It seems the star magic does almost no damage to buildings. These three small runes probably didn't intentionally alter the nature of the magic, right?"
"Perhaps magic itself does not possess physical destructive power, but mainly acts on the mind, which explains why star magic, which is pure and only contains magic power, does not damage buildings."
Lin Feng suddenly realized that the system only mentioned learning star magic on its own and killing the enemy, but it didn't say that it had to kill the enemy on its own.
Therefore, he could have DuckGigi beat a low-level Pokémon to a pulp, and then charge up a Star to finish it off.
However, he didn't plan to go out and roam in the wilderness so soon, as a teleportation spell wouldn't be of much help to him at the moment.
To unlock the second stage of the quest, you need to complete the second task: learn how to make Gulu Balls. This dark alley has hardly any alchemists, let alone magicians.
As far as he knew, most of the people in the dark alley were ordinary people. Only the Faraway Merchant Guild and a few students who graduated from magic academies had the ability to capture elves on their own, let alone alchemy!
Lin Feng was somewhat frustrated. In his memory, the protagonist of the game learned to make Gulu Balls with the help of the teaching assistant Lulu. He should have let Lulu teach him first.
"Wait, isn't there an old man named Bode in the shopping district in the game who's really good at alchemy? I remember he can even make advanced alchemical potions like liquefaction!"
But... I don't know these people well, so why would they be willing to teach me how to make gulu balls?
Lin Feng sighed. Before transmigrating to the world of Locke Kingdom, he didn't know that it was so difficult for ordinary people in this world to achieve a comeback.
Why are most of the new students at magic academies nobles? And why did the price of the Gulu Ball remain high even after Enzo invented the advanced Gulu Ball?
monopoly!
The nobility not only monopolized material possessions but also knowledge. It's likely that everyone could capture elves, which was merely a way for some highly talented Lockes to rise in status—they were afraid these people would throw themselves into nightmares and overthrow their rule.
"Gagaga".
Duck Jiji pushed open the door and walked in, carrying two sunflowers on its wings. It kept its head down and kept glancing at Lin Feng's expression out of the corner of its eye.
Lin Feng was completely bewildered, thinking to himself: What is this silly duck trying to do? Wait, what is it holding in its wing...?
If he remembers correctly, this flower is a sunflower?!
This is a rare alchemical material used to synthesize temperature-regulating spheres.
Lin Feng asked with a hint of surprise, "Where did you get these flowers?"
Seeing that Lin Feng was no longer angry, DuckGiggle's eyes narrowed back to their usual squinty shape. It stuffed the flower into Lin Feng's palm, then ran outside and waved to him, "Quack quack quack! (Come with me)"
Lin Feng's expression was a little strange. The dark alley was right next to the port, with many cargo ships coming and going every day. Could it be that Duck Gigi sneaked into some alchemy material warehouse and stole it?
Filled with doubt, he followed DuckGigi out of the room.
The dark alley was already quite lively, with some women chatting and gossiping while cooking lunchtime soup for the port workers.
Some children are chasing kava, carefree.
However, most residents wore simple linen clothes and would greet Yajiji and Lin Feng behind him warmly.
"Oh! It's Lin Feng! Have you recovered yet?"
"Big brother, you must become a great magician!"
"Brother Lin, could you teach me how to capture a Pokémon?"
Everyone was so enthusiastic! As expected, magicians have a very high status.
Lin Feng greeted everyone, whether he knew them or not.
You can't lose your public persona.
The man and the duck quickly slipped to the riverbank beside the port, where they could hear the conversation between the old man selling magic stones and the supplier. If any accident occurred, the port staff could arrive in time.
"This place is really great, Duck Gigi, how did you find it?"
Suddenly, Duck Gigi stopped and quacked at the bushes in front of him.
Lin Feng stroked his chin, thinking to himself: There's nothing special about this place. The magic in the air isn't as strong as in other places. Could it be that Duck Gigi found the sunflower here?
However, things did not go as he had imagined. Four small flower buds emerged from the ground in the grass, their little green bodies topped with tiny buds, their faces showing a wronged expression.
"This is... a rare and beautiful plant?"
The first Pokémon he sent to kill in the wild was Chikorita, but what was about to happen shocked him so much that he immediately cried out in surprise.
"I'm a capitalist!"
