Chapter 2113 - 2113: Werewolf Statue

Chapter 2113 - 2113: Werewolf Statue

Staring at the hundreds of werewolves, Ye Qing did lose himself for a moment, but he quickly regained his composure. With three forces within him, he was impervious to blades and spears; these werewolves could not harm him in the slightest. On the contrary, if they dared to attack him, the three forces within would immediately strike back, slaughtering them. Therefore, Ye Qing feared not only hundreds of werewolves but thousands—or even tens of thousands—did not pose a threat to him."So this is your lair!" Ye Qing glanced around and clicked his tongue. "Just as well, today I'll slaughter all you flesh-eating beasts, saving me the trouble of hunting you down one by one!"

Saying this, Ye Qing walked straight towards the hundreds of werewolves. He could see they were very wary of him, not daring to pounce towards his direction. Since they wouldn't come to him, Ye Qing had no intention of waiting, but chose to take the initiative, confident he would suffer no loss.

As Ye Qing approached them, the werewolves became restless, their eyes increasingly anxious. They clawed nervously at the ground, continuously growling, seemingly ready to attack Ye Qing at any moment. Yet they were also scared of him, so despite their growls, they wouldn't dare to go all out against him.

Ye Qing paid them no mind, knowing they were no friends of the Huaxia people. Slaughtering them all was indeed beneficial. While he had the chance to kill them with the three forces within his body, he should seize the opportunity. Otherwise, taking them on one by one would be a hassle.

The distance between Ye Qing and these werewolves wasn't far, but the cave was enormous. Logically, with their fear of him, they should retreat as he approached. Strangely, they stood their ground, not budging an inch as he got closer.

This puzzled Ye Qing, who frowned slightly at the werewolves. Earlier too far away to see clearly, he now observed that while hundreds gathered, there was a spot among them without a werewolf. Though they tightly guarded this position, as Ye Qing grew closer, he still couldn't discern what lay there.

Meanwhile, the werewolves grew even more agitated, continually howling as if trying to frighten him away. Watching their behavior, Ye Qing suddenly felt they might be guarding something, unwilling to retreat. The closer he got, the more anxious they became; perhaps his presence threatened what they were guarding.

Though Ye Qing didn't know what they were guarding, being in the Tomb of Ghost Valley Master, he intended to investigate. If lucky enough to directly find the tomb, he could leave immediately.

With this thought, he hastened towards the werewolves, apparently intent on defeating or driving them back to seize what they guarded.

Finally, when Ye Qing was about thirty meters away, the werewolves could no longer hold back. At the lead werewolf's roar, over twenty suddenly rushed toward Ye Qing. Despite knowing they couldn't win against him, their willingness to fight to the death signified the importance of what they protected.

Ye Qing had been anticipating their attack, so when they pounced, he simply opened his arms, awaiting their approach.

The first to arrive was a robust werewolf, which tackled him to the ground. However, as expected, before it could bite him, Ye Qing shattered it with a single punch.

The remaining werewolves piled onto him like a human pyramid. Yet, no matter their numbers or strength, they paled compared to the three forces within Ye Qing. Any that attacked him were blasted apart, while those that didn't were actively crushed by him. The twenty-odd werewolves didn't last ten minutes before he dealt with them all.

Surveying the blood and flesh on the ground, the remaining werewolves howled continuously, realizing their fate. Yet, they stubbornly held their ground, which surprised Ye Qing, indicating whatever they guarded was vitally important.

What exactly were they guarding?

With questions in mind, Ye Qing charged forward again. Though the werewolves attempted to block him, the outcome was predetermined. He was already invincible against them. It was merely a matter of time to kill so many. The over one hundred werewolves took Ye Qing about an hour to eliminate, leaving the ground littered with blood and flesh. The few surviving werewolves shivered, still showing no intention of retreating.

At last, Ye Qing saw what the werewolves protected. An immense stone werewolf stood about a zhang tall, appearing to be a giant werewolf statue.

Ye Qing frowned, thinking they guarded the Tomb of Ghost Valley Master. Who would guess hundreds of werewolves guarded merely a statue? What was so special about this statue that it warranted such protection?

Of course, upon seeing the werewolf statue, Ye Qing noticed something peculiar. Above the statue floated a sphere radiating golden light, revealing the sphere's presence above it.

Though Ye Qing didn't know the statue's origins, seeing the sphere with its golden glow and the werewolves' desperate defense, he vaguely sensed something was amiss with it.

Taking a deep breath, Ye Qing slowly approached the statue, preparing to study it and discover its secrets.

The remaining werewolves lunged as he neared, futilely trying to stop him. As expected, they couldn't hinder him, and he easily dispatched them, reaching the statue.

Though Ye Qing was tall, standing by the statue made him feel insignificant. The werewolf statue was only one zhang high, yet he felt it could crush him underfoot with ease.

The sensation was strange, a gut-wrenching dread that unsettled Ye Qing. Looking up at the statue, he was startled to find its eyes alive with a breathtaking brilliance. The gaze felt like a gleaming blade pressed against his heart, creating shivers.

Ye Qing's expression changed; why did its eyes gleam like that? Was it not merely a statue, but a living being?

Shocked by the statue's eye contact, Ye Qing slowed his steps, sidestepping to see if its gaze followed him. Relieved, he realized its eyes were fixed where he had been, confirming it wasn't alive, just a lifelike sculpture.

Exhaling in relief, Ye Qing walked beside it, examining its eyes and the statue itself. Though it wasn't alive, the brilliance in its eyes startled him. Considering how the werewolves sacrificed to protect it, he dared not be careless; his instincts whispered something was wrong.

The werewolf statue stood upright but had its claws extended forward, its jaws wide, as if ready to pounce. Oddly, traces of blood marred its mouth's edge!

This discovery startled Ye Qing, who rubbed his eyes and confirmed the presence of blood. But it was only a statue—how could blood appear there?

Puzzled, Ye Qing scrutinized it longer. Confirming it was merely a statue, he climbed it. From its claws, he rubbed the blood smear, finding it dry. The blood predated his entrance to the cave.

Where did the blood come from? The werewolves revered it, but would they stain it with their blood?
