Chapter 63 The Night Before Bed
Chapter 63 The Night Before Bed
Linni glanced at Yao and Ye. The best solution would be for them to take turns spending time with her, but that would mean she wouldn't be able to be with Yao for several days, and Ye would be hibernating in the winter. She sighed and said helplessly, "Okay."
Feng was so happy he almost jumped for joy, and gave Yao an admiring look: Yao, you're a good kid! Although you're weak, you're very savvy.
The group entered the room together. Lin Ni resigned herself to lying down in the middle, Yao lay down on her left and held her, Ye slept on her right, and Feng lay down behind Yao.
Lin Ni lay quietly for a while, then suddenly opened her mouth and bit Yao's chest several times fiercely. Yao was actually startled by her, but he understood what she meant, so he didn't dare to move at all, only using his hand to brush her hair aside and gently soothe her back. Lin Ni bit him a few times, feeling like crying, wanting to scold Yao a few times, but afraid that Feng would misunderstand. Besides, she was the one who agreed to become Feng's partner. Now that they were partners, it was indeed inappropriate for him to sleep alone in the cave with both partners. It could only be said that the halo of being the only single beast in the towering mountains was too bright, blinding her; otherwise, she would definitely have considered it carefully before agreeing.
Linni calmed herself down, looked up at Yao, and saw him looking at her with concern. She couldn't resist kissing him. They hugged and kissed for a while, until Linni heard the sound of their own kiss. Remembering Feng was still there, she shyly pushed Yao away, lay down, and looked at the roof. Suddenly, she realized how strange she was. Why was she afraid he'd overthink things if she thought of Feng, and afraid he'd find out about their kiss? But Ye was always here, so why wasn't she worried about Ye? Did she consider Ye one of her own, or was she too concerned about Feng? Her mind raced with these thoughts. For a moment, the stone house was quiet, with only Linni and Yao's slightly rapid breathing. She wondered if Ye and Feng were asleep—of course they weren't, but Linni assumed they were. So she snuggled into Yao's arms again and whispered, "Yao, are you going hunting tomorrow?"
Yao replied in a voice only slightly softer than usual, "I won't go tomorrow. I'll stay home with you."
Lin Ni reached out and hugged him, saying happily, "That's great!" She guessed that they were taking turns staying home with her for a day. Then she whispered, "Don't get up so early tomorrow. Wait until I wake up before we get up together."
Yao nodded: "Okay."
Thinking about being able to stay home with Yao tomorrow, Lin Ni felt a little excited: "I want to eat your cooking! Your cooking is the best!" But then she thought of the terrible food Feng made today: Uh, never mind!
"Okay, I'll make whatever Lin likes to eat."
"Hmm!" Linni nodded, saying with a hint of regret, "It's a pity my folding knife is too small; I can't cut anything."
Yao thought for a moment, then asked uncertainly, "You want to slice it thinly?"
"Hmm, I switched to ginger today, and I'm kind of craving sizzling hot pot."
Yao: "I've never eaten it."
Lin Ni: "I made it with Ye, it was very fragrant and delicious, it would taste even better with ginger."
Night suddenly said, "I'll cut the meat for you before we go hunting tomorrow."
Lin Ni turned and glanced at him: "You're still awake?"
Night smiled at her. Why did she always feel like he could fall asleep while they were chatting?
Linni asked curiously, "Why can you cut meat, but Yao can't?"
Yao can only shred the meat into strips, or use tools like Linni does.
Night said, "Because he can't transform into a beast." After thinking for a moment, she added, "Tomorrow I'll leave you a scale, so you can cut whatever you want."
"Is it very sharp?" Linni asked curiously.
"Yes, let Yao make you a place to hold it with a piece of wood, so you won't hurt yourself."
“Okay.” Yao nodded.
"Night, you're so good!" Lin Ni said, turning over to kiss him before resting her head on his arm. Looking at the ceiling, Lin Ni thought of the flashlight Night had used until it ran out of power. It was supposed to be solar-powered, but it couldn't be charged by the sun at all. If it could be charged, she wouldn't have to go to bed as soon as it got dark. The lighting on the Beast God Continent was so outdated! There was practically nothing that could emit light. Suddenly, she remembered the red-glowing shield Yao had placed in front of her when he appeared, and then she remembered what Yan had said before: male beastmen could release Beast God power upon reaching level nine, forming shields or weapons. Could this energy be used for charging? If so, she could use her phone! So she asked Yao, "Yao, you said Feng has already reached level nine, so can he release Beast God power now?"
Yao: "I've never seen him use it. Why don't you ask him?"
Linni: "He should be asleep, right?"
Ye looked at Lin Ni speechlessly but didn't say anything. Yao suppressed a laugh and said, "Probably not. Why don't you try calling him softly?"
Lin Ni glanced at Yao, then remembered that Ye had only spoken after she and Yao had been chatting for a long time. So she raised her upper body to look at Feng behind Yao. Although it was dark at night and she couldn't see his face clearly, Lin Ni immediately met his beautiful phoenix eyes. He was looking at her expectantly.
Linni immediately lay down, and before Feng could even feel disappointed, he heard her say, "Feng, then tell me, can you release the power of the Beast God?"
Feng happily replied, "It's ready, but it can't be used in combat yet. We still need to figure it out for a while." Listening to his beloved little female and Ye and Yao chat before bed every day, he finally joined their conversation!
Linni sat up abruptly: "Can I take a look?"
“It’s possible.” Feng sat up and extended his right hand. White light shone in his palm, growing brighter and brighter until it became a ball of white light, about the size of a basketball, spinning in his palm. Lin Ni watched curiously, recalling the white light that had enveloped her and Yao when they prayed at the Beast God Monument. She slowly reached out to touch it, but felt a slight repulsive force when she touched the edge, so she withdrew her hand. Seeing her withdraw her hand, Feng dissipated the white light: “For now, I can only maintain the power of the Beast God in this form. It’s still quite a distance from being usable in combat.”
Linni nodded and then asked, "Is the power of the Beast God always white?"
Feng said, "I think so. Father and Ling are another level nine beastman in our tribe. Their beast god power is white."
Linni looked up at him: "Are you feeling unwell right now?"
"I felt a little overexerted, but it will be fine after a while."
"I understand." Lin Ni lay down again. She had only sat there for a short while, but she felt a little cold, so she snuggled into Yao's arms and rubbed against him.
Yao pulled her blanket tighter and hugged her, saying, "Be careful not to catch a cold."
