Chapter 82 I Can Hunt by Myself Now
Chapter 82 I Can Hunt by Myself Now
In the afternoon, Linni persevered and finally shot a pheasant with her bow and arrow. She jumped up with joy: "Yan, look, I finally hit it! I can hunt by myself now!"
Although Yan didn't think there was anything to be happy about killing such a small pheasant, seeing how happy Lin Ni was, he laughed along with her: "Shall we kill it and eat it now?"
Linni: "No, I want to take it home and eat it with them!"
Yan: It's not even enough to fill a gap between my teeth!
Suddenly, Linni remembered that knotting rope could make a net, somewhat like a basketball net. So she asked Yan to find some vines, placed herself in a safe place, tied knots to make a net, and then sent Yan to hunt for food—after her experience of eating fish balls with Feng and the others last time, she knew that the baked pheasant and four fried eggs would not fill the orcs' stomachs.
Although this was part of the Tiger Beast Tribe's territory, Yan was still worried about Linni's safety. Mainly, Linni was just too weak; he'd never seen a female who couldn't even catch a wild rabbit. Females were also adult beastmen; they could transform into beast forms. How could someone be so weak? In the end, Linni sat on Yan's back and helped him catch a few rabbits. He ate the rabbits, and she made nets. After making two, Linni sat on Yan's back and went searching for eggs throughout the mountains and forests.
Linni picked up chicken eggs and bird eggs, big and small, without discrimination. Some were as big as a head, while others were only the size of a normal chicken egg. Yan said that everyone usually only picked up the big ones, and no one wanted the small ones. Linni laughed happily: "It's fine if they don't want them, I like the small ones."
She couldn't finish the big ones, and they would take a long time to cook. The small ones were just right; she could eat two or three, plus some fruit, and that would be breakfast. Only when the two net bags were full did Lin Ni reluctantly head home.
In the evening, she made a pot of stewed pheasant and potatoes. After everyone came back, she also fried a big pot of eggs. Everyone sat around the table and each got a bowl.
Bai looked at the half-eaten stewed pheasant and potatoes and the other half of scrambled eggs in the wooden bowl: "Why did Lin cook for us today? Is something happy about it?" Bai and Ye had lived with Lin Ni the longest and knew that eating together was a very happy thing for Lin Ni.
Linni picked up her bowl and gently tapped it against theirs: "I'm very happy today, please eat!"
Everyone started using their forks and chopsticks. After a couple of bites, Yao couldn't help but praise, "Lin's scrambled eggs are delicious! And the pheasant stew is very flavorful too."
Linni's eyes crinkled into crescent moons as she smiled: "Is it delicious? This is a pheasant I hunted myself, my first ever game, so I wanted to share it with you."
Upon hearing this, all the males except Yan looked up at her.
Yao: "Lin went hunting by himself?"
Ye stared at Yan: "Didn't I tell you to stay with Lin?"
Bai looked at Lin Ni: "Lin, how could you go hunting by yourself?"
Yan glanced guiltily at Ye, then looked at Lin Ni. Lin Ni said helplessly, "I didn't go hunting by myself. I was just playing with Yan in the back mountain. I shot this pheasant with the bow and arrow that Yao made." After saying that, she looked at Yan again: "If you don't believe me, ask Yan. I've been with him all day."
Yan nodded under the serious gazes of the three pairs of eyes: "It was indeed shot by Lin with that bow and arrow made of bamboo."
Ye glanced at Yao: Why did you make this bow and arrow for her?
Yao: She wants it, are you going to give it to her or not?
Night, White: Okay!
After exchanging glances for a while, the men began to praise him.
Yao said, "Lin is really amazing!"
Ye said, "Lin's cooking is really delicious!"
Bai said, "Lin must stay with us when he goes hunting!"
Lin Ni nodded solemnly: "Don't worry, I'll remember to put safety first!"
After dinner, Linni shared her experience using the bow and arrow with Yao, asking him to make her a stronger and better one. Yan and Bai made twenty arrows together, while Ye made the quiver. Yes, not one of them will escape!
She happily placed her new weapon in the corner of the room and said to Yao, "Yao, bring your weapon in and put it at home too. If not in the room, put it in the dining room, or even outside—" She was about to ask what if someone took it, but then she thought that the orcs on the orc continent didn't use weapons, so who would take it? So she changed her mind and said, "It wouldn't be good if it got wet in the rain."
“Okay.” Yao went out and brought in his wooden spear, placing it in a corner of the restaurant, where it didn’t get in the way.
Then, during the break, Yan noticed everyone had gone into Lin Ni's room. He hesitated, unsure whether to follow, since they had all become partners with Lin Ni, while he, despite having also prayed to the Beast God, hadn't yet. Ye, walking at the back, first blocked the entrance to the dining room with the large wooden plank he had made earlier, then came over and nudged Yan from behind: "We're resting, why are you blocking the doorway?"
Yan entered the room, and Yao smiled at him, pointing behind him: "Feng slept here before, you can sleep here for now if you don't mind."
Yan smiled and climbed onto the kang (heated brick bed): "No problem, thank you!"
Lin Ni was still engrossed in the shooting game, and everyone was already sleeping on the kang (heated brick bed), so it seemed there was no going back. Yan had already prayed to the Beast God with her, so let them sleep! She just looked up and asked, "Who's staying home with me tomorrow?"
Ye said, "I was originally planning to leave in a couple of days and have Yan keep you company, but now I'm a little worried."
Linni wriggled out of Yao's arms: "There's nothing to worry about. I promise I won't leave the Tiger Beast Tribe's territory! Don't worry!"
Looking at Lin Ni's bright eyes, Ye thought: I'm even more worried. What should I do?
Linni rolled into Ye's arms: "Ye, don't worry! Yan finally came back for two days, and he's leaving again the day after tomorrow. I don't know when he'll be back! Let me play with him for two days! Besides, he can fly. I sat on his back and picked up a lot of eggs! Everyone else doesn't want the small eggs, but I love eating them. I'll go pick up more tomorrow!"
Ye patted her head: "Okay, you go collect eggs tomorrow, and you must stay with Yan."
Yao and Bai both looked at him with expressions that said, "You shameless bastard." Ye pretended not to see them, but stared at Yan, silently warning, "You better keep a close eye on me, or I'll bite you to death if you lose even a single hair!"
Yan: You're bullying me again!
So, the next day, Linni and Yan were having a blast in the mountains north of the Tiger Beast Tribe! They were literally having a blast! After praying for two hours, she first went to collect a round of eggs from various birds, and then began hunting. Yan, being an eagle beast, had incredibly sharp eyesight, so he was responsible for finding various small prey. Normally, the adult beastmen of the Tiger Beast Tribe wouldn't catch these small animals; they were left for the underage cubs to practice and become self-reliant. Therefore, there was quite a bit of prey. Besides, everyone usually just pounced on them to catch them; the small animals never imagined they had entered the age of cold weapons!
