Chapter 266 The End of the Fengchan Ceremony
Chapter 266 The End of the Fengchan Ceremony
After Jia Hu and Jia Zhen were put into the carriage, they were instructed to follow the master of ceremonies' arrangements and go to the front.
Jia Hu was genuinely nervous, his hands clenched tightly, sitting as still as a steel plate. He was witnessing history this time, and he thought he would leave a mark on the history books, or perhaps it would be forgotten.
"Big brother."
"Ah! Ah,"
Jia Hu suddenly jolted awake.
"Big brother, your hands are all white from squeezing so hard."
Jia Zhen looked at his elder brother with heartache. What was wrong with his brother? Why were his hands clenched so tightly?
Jia Hu then realized that his hands felt a little numb. He shook his hands and laughed:
"Big brother is fine. Little brother, aren't you nervous at all? You've been involved in the process."
This was all thanks to my own efforts; without me, there would have been no Fengshan ceremony.
"Brother, I'm not nervous."
Jia Zhen wasn't nervous at all.
"Aren't you nervous with so many people around? This is a big deal!"
Jia Hu was surprised. Sure enough, he had the courage of a child, fearless of everything.
"Brother, don't be nervous. Our grandfather said that we only need to observe the ceremony today. We know all the people here. We've met the Emperor so many times. He has such a good temper."
Jia Zhen, mimicking how his elder brother sometimes comforted him, patted Jia Hu on the back.
Jia Hu suddenly relaxed. Yes! He had brought his thoughts from his previous life with him, and now he was someone others looked up to.
I should know all the ministers who are here today and can go up to the mountain to watch the ceremony. There's nothing to be nervous about. Just enjoy watching the ceremony.
"Thank you, little brother."
Jia Hu laughed and said that he had been imagining things. Jia Zhen looked at his brother and felt that he had suddenly changed, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it. However, he was glad that his brother wasn't nervous.
Jia Hu relaxed, and his body no longer stood as straight as a steel plate. He picked out some things to talk about and told Jia Zhen about what the Fengshan ceremony was like in the past and the purpose of the Fengshan ceremony.
A knocking sound came from the window. Jia Hu stopped, opened the curtains, and laughed:
"Your Highness, the Imperial Grandson, you have arrived."
The young prince was standing by the window, and Jia Zhen also poked his head out, smiling and greeting him. The two of them wanted to come down as well.
"No need to get down. I just arrived and knew it was your carriage that came to say hello."
That being said, Jia Hu couldn't really say it like that, so he got off the carriage with Jia Zhen.
The three of them hadn't seen each other for a few days. They were there to observe the ceremony, while the young prince was attending with the emperor and had been very busy these past few days.
I haven't seen you all for several days, and I really miss you.
The young prince pulled the two of them aside and said.
We miss you too.
Jia Hu and Jia Zhen said.
"I heard from my grandfather that this Fengshan ceremony is very important. After the ceremony, we can relax and have some fun. Then we can go together."
Jia Hu and Jia Zhen nodded in agreement.
The Seventh Prince, who had just arrived, looked at Jia Hu and the others with disdain and said:
"The son of the crown prince spends all his time with children and is utterly useless."
The eunuch beside him lowered his head even further.
The three exchanged a few more words before a palace attendant reminded the prince that it was time to leave.
The three separated, and Jia Hu and Jia Zhen got back into the carriage. The master of ceremonies came over and explained the rules: from the moment the carriage started moving until it stopped, no one was allowed to talk or open the windows.
Jia Hu listened and realized that these were rules that had been concocted over time. He had no idea where they came from or what their basis was, yet the Emperor had listened to them.
Jia Hu felt it was a bit of a pity that he couldn't enjoy the scenery along the way and could only go up like this.
