Chapter 42 You Should Have Your Own Life
Chapter 42 You Should Have Your Own Life
Yunzhi stared in astonishment at Cheng Shuyan in front of her.
She instinctively thought she had misheard.
Are you telling me to stay home recently?
She was somewhat afraid to look into Cheng Shuyan's eyes, where her own disheveled and haggard face was reflected.
Cheng Shuyan repeated it.
"Move to my villa, the one you've been to before."
Yunzhi noticed that Cheng Shuyan's expression was unusually serious, clearly indicating that he wasn't joking with her.
This puzzled her.
"why?"
Why would Cheng Shuyan make such a presumptuous request for priority?
If he wanted to take this opportunity to take care of her, Yunzhi would definitely refuse without hesitation.
Cheng Shuyan said slowly, "Ye Chengyan already knows you live here. This place is no longer safe. My villa has strict security, and no one will bother you anymore."
Yunzhi remained silent.
She couldn't help but recall the scenes from the past few days when Ye Chengyan came to find her.
It felt like I was living under his surveillance, which is especially terrifying to think about now.
But after thinking about it, she still refused Cheng Shuyan.
"It's okay, I'll find another place myself."
He wants to gradually detach himself from this world and sever all ties with people.
In the last few days of her life, she will be in a place where no one can find her.
Disappeared completely.
Yunzhi's refusal was within Cheng Shuyan's expectations, but he did not want to give up and continued to persuade her.
"Even if you move to another place, do you think you can't find Ye Chengyan? At least I can help you keep Ye Chengyan away."
A few days ago, Yunzhi might have thought that Cheng Shuyan was just comforting her.
But once he learned that Cheng Shuyan's background was extraordinary, he was certain that he would keep his word.
Cheng Shuyan does indeed have the ability to help me.
"Zhizhi, at least you can be more free and happy."
Cheng Shuyan wasn't stupid. Having been by Yunzhi's side for so many years, he had long since realized that Yunzhi was definitely hiding something.
But Yunzhi was unwilling to talk about it, and he did not press her for details.
She simply stayed by his side quietly.
However, what they saw was Yunzhi growing more and more haggard and weak, suffering endless torment from Ye Chengyan.
It was like a knife had been stabbed into his heart, twisting and turning, tearing away flesh and blood.
Looking into Cheng Shuyan's eyes, Yunzhi saw no pity or sympathy, only sorrow, as if a handful of shards of glass had been inserted, causing a sudden, sharp pain in Yunzhi's heart.
Her lips trembled slightly.
I almost nodded in agreement with Cheng Shuyan.
“Brother,” Yunzhi said softly, “we all have our own lives, you shouldn’t revolve around me.”
Yunzhi stopped looking at Cheng Shuyan and lay back down on the bed, curling up under the covers.
"Cheng Shuyan, you can go now. I feel much better. Thank you for taking care of me."
Nothing further.
Yunzhi curled herself up into a ball and closed her eyes tightly.
The only sound around me was my own heartbeat; the pain slowly crept in.
Finally, she heard a soft sigh by the bedside.
"Zhizhi, I'm serious. I hope you can consider it."
"I go first."
The footsteps faded into the distance, followed by the sound of the door locking.
Yunzhi, however, was out of control and suddenly sat up in bed, only to find the room empty before her.
"Yunzhi." She lowered her head and murmured to herself, "Don't drag Cheng Shuyan down anymore. You've already caused him too much trouble."
Her mouth tasted bitter, and although she was exhausted, she felt no sleepiness whatsoever.
Just then, the cell phone that was placed to the side rang.
"Hello?" Yunzhi answered.
"Ms. Yun, the Ye Group will be holding a shareholders' meeting tomorrow, and all shareholders are required to attend. Mr. Ye hopes that you can arrive at the company on time."
Yunzhi was somewhat surprised to hear the notification over the phone.
Why hold a shareholders' meeting at this time?
Yunzhi had a premonition that tomorrow's shareholders' meeting would probably be aimed at her.
She also holds a significant number of shares in the Ye Group.
Unfortunately, Ye Chengyan's wishful thinking was about to fall through.
Yunzhi did not give the person on the other end of the phone a definite answer to indicate whether she would go or not, and hung up the phone directly.
The shares currently held have been gifted to Cheng Shuyan. The Ye Group has also recently sold off a lot of shares due to project failures, so the composition of the group's shareholders may have quietly changed.
Then I'll just add fuel to the fire.
After all she's done for the Ye Group, now she deserves some reward.
Thinking of this, Yunzhi rummaged through her coat pocket and found a business card, then dialed the number on it.
The call was connected quickly.
"Hello, are you Mrs. An?"
“I am Yunzhi, Yeze’s mother.”
……
The wind outside was a bit cold. When Yunzhi arrived at the agreed-upon coffee shop, there weren't many people inside, and the bell at the door rang crisply.
She took off her hat, revealing her face still covered in bandages. Several guests who had been drawn by the sound of the bells couldn't help but glance at Yunzhi a few more times.
But Yunzhi didn't care.
She looked around and finally found Madam An, then walked over to her.
"I'm sorry, Mrs. An, for keeping you waiting." Yunzhi sat down.
Madam An took a sip of the hot tea in her cup, and when she looked up and saw Yunzhi, she was slightly surprised: "Miss Yun, your face..."
"I got hurt by accident," Yunzhi said with a smile.
Madam An looked at the bandages on Yunzhi's face, which almost covered half of her face.
“I know a doctor who I can help you contact if you need him.”
"Thank you for your trouble." Yunzhi smiled and pushed the gift she brought in front of Madam An. "I apologize again for what happened at the kindergarten. I hope you won't find this small gift too much."
Although it happened in kindergarten, Mrs. An was assertive and even somewhat unreasonable, but everything she did was for her child.
Now that Yunzhi has apologized sincerely, Madam An will not make things too difficult for her.
Madam An did not open the gift, but said, "The Ye family is extremely powerful, but I am not afraid. I will do anything for my child."
Yunzhi felt a pang of sorrow in her heart.
She thought of Tongtong, her poor daughter.
Mrs. An was a shrewd woman; in fact, she knew all along that Yunzhi had obtained her contact information through the kindergarten teacher.
Madam An was curious about what Yunzhi was planning to do.
"Miss Yun, you didn't come to see me just to apologize, did you?"
She thought about it and concluded that it must be related to business matters.
I heard that the Ye Group seems to be facing some trouble recently.
Seeing that Madam An had already made her point clear, Yunzhi didn't keep her in suspense any longer.
"The Ye Group had a project that was contracted out to Mr. An's company, and construction is about to begin."
Yunzhi brought up business, which was exactly what Madam An had expected. She guessed that Yunzhi might want to lower the price.
However, what Yunzhi said next shocked Madam An.
"I hope Mr. An can refuse to take on the engineering projects of the Ye Group."
