Chapter 351 The Last Time
Chapter 351 The Last Time
Cheng Shuyan shook his head, trying to shake the absurd thought out of his mind. How could that be? Zhizhi was just good at coaxing children. How could he have such thoughts?
While the others didn't notice Cheng Shuyan's unusual behavior, the system naturally sensed a momentary overlap in Cheng Shuyan's data. However, it didn't tell Yunzhi. After pondering for a while, it decided to report the error to the system.
Upon hearing this, KK nodded firmly, turned around, mustered her courage, looked at the headmistress, and said in a soft, cute voice, word by word, "Headmistress, KK is willing to be adopted by the pretty auntie."
The pretty auntie was willing to give him a home, a home that belonged to KK.
When the dean saw KK's unusually familiar relationship with Yunzhi, she knew that KK would definitely agree. She even felt that she had asked too many questions. But how could KK, who was so shy, have such a good relationship with Yunzhi? The dean even suspected that Yunzhi had met KK many times before.
"Miss Yun, have you met KK before?"
"You probably won't believe it, but including today, I've only met KK twice. But KK and I get along very well, which is why I suggested adopting KK." Yunzhi held KK's little hand and looked at KK with a smile.
The dean couldn't help but gasp in surprise. She knew how shy KK was. Even the staff who took care of KK were afraid of her. On ordinary days, KK was like a timid little rabbit. But she never expected that she would meet Yunzhi only twice and then... Oh well, maybe it really is their destiny.
"Okay, I'll make a background check first. Please wait here for a moment. If there are no problems, I'll process your paperwork." The dean said, taking out his phone and making a call.
Yunzhi led KK to sit down. As soon as they sat down, KK asked in a low voice, "Pretty auntie, are you really going to adopt KK?"
"Am I really going to adopt you, or do you not want to come with me?"
“Of course I would.” KK flashed a toothy grin. “I thought no one would want to adopt me.”
One sentence felt like something had stabbed Yunzhi in the heart.
“KK is great, and many people are willing to adopt KK.”
KK blinked but didn't say anything, but Yunzhi saw confusion on his face.
Really? If so many people are willing to adopt KK, why has KK never met anyone?
Qin Ran and Yu Baisu, what a terrible thing they've done.
The dean hung up the phone quickly. She was momentarily dazed when she did. She had guessed that Yunzhi's background was unusual, but she hadn't expected it to be this unusual. No wonder Yunzhi could easily investigate the information she had been searching for all these years. In that instant, the dean felt a little relieved that Yunzhi's background was unusual, which also proved that the information she had was 90% true.
Thinking of this, the dean breathed a sigh of relief, as if a huge weight had been lifted from her heart. She looked at Yunzhi and smiled peacefully.
"Ms. Yun, your background check is complete. You have agreed to the conditions, and I will now process the adoption procedures for you and KK."
Before the dean could finish speaking, and before Yunzhi could even reply, a sudden voice rang out, "Dean, you're suggesting KK be adopted? But didn't Qin Ran say..."
The person speaking was the staff member who brought KK over and had been taking care of KK. She looked to be no more than twenty-five or twenty-six years old. She became anxious as soon as she heard that Yunzhi wanted to adopt KK. She liked Qin Ran, so she naturally regarded Qin Ran's words as a royal decree. She originally thought that the dean would use the background check as an excuse to get rid of the two of them, but she did not expect that the dean would actually agree.
Does Brother Qin Ran know about this? He definitely doesn't know, otherwise he would never have let the dean do this.
Before she could finish speaking, the dean snapped at her, "Shut up!"
She shut her mouth in grievance, but her eyes were full of resentment.
"Dean, is this one of your people or Qin Ran's people?" Yun Zhi asked, propping her head up with one hand and giving a half-smile.
Her expression changed. "Don't talk nonsense here. KK won't be adopted by anyone else. KK, didn't you say you were waiting for Uncle Qin Ran? Uncle Qin Ran hasn't come back yet. How can you go with someone else? How can you do this to Uncle Qin Ran?"
The woman's shrill voice was extremely jarring in the quiet space. KK shrank back in fright, hiding most of his body behind Yunzhi.
Yunzhi's smile vanished instantly. "Those who know will know this is an orphanage, but those who don't might think it's some old-fashioned place where people were bought and sold. So, whether KK wants to be adopted or not isn't up to him or the director, but it's up to you, the staff member?"
Yunzhi patted KK's back reassuringly with one hand, her gaze falling on her like a sharp blade. She was startled. Even though Yunzhi was sitting there and she was standing there, she always felt that she was a head shorter than this person.
She opened her mouth, wanting to say that it wasn't like that, that KK was brought by Brother Qin Ran, and that she should be taken away by Brother Qin Ran.
"Alright, Xiao Sun, stop talking and get out of here. KK is a child from our welfare home. As long as he meets the adoption criteria and is willing to be adopted, we can proceed with the adoption process. Have you read what's written in your employee handbook? Copy it five times and hand it to me later." The director's voice also turned cold, and he felt some dissatisfaction with Qin Ran.
She wasn't stupid. From Xiao Sun's protectiveness towards Qin Ran, she could tell that Xiao Sun was Qin Ran's man. Qin Ran's influence was a bit too much. Who was he guarding against? Had he forgotten that he also came from an orphanage?
Xiao Sun wanted to say something, but the dean chased him away.
After Xiao Sun left, the dean apologized to Yunzhi, feeling embarrassed.
Yunzhi waved her hand. "I don't think it's a big deal, but someone with such unstable emotions is probably not suitable to be a staff member at an orphanage. Moreover, her commanding attitude is probably often directed at KK. No wonder KK is still so shy and can't get close to the staff at the orphanage after all these years."
Yunzhi openly and honestly put the dean's eye on her.
The dean's expression changed, becoming much more serious. She solemnly promised Yunzhi that she would investigate the matter and give KK an explanation. Yunzhi didn't take it to heart, since KK wouldn't be returning to this place in the future unless he wanted to come back on his own.
The paperwork was completed in less than half an hour.
In exchange, Yunzhi sent her all the information about the dean's daughter. As the three of them left the dean's office, they heard the dean's broken sobs behind them.
KK tightened her grip on Yunzhi's hand, wanting to turn around and look at the dean.
"KK, let's go home." Yunzhi bent down, picked him up, and quickly left the orphanage.
