I arrived at the hospital an hour later.
The crowds celebrating New Year's Eve in the city center hadn't dispersed yet, making driving difficult.
As soon as I arrived at the hospital, the doctor pulled me into the emergency room.
Huo Yubai lay on the hospital bed, his body covered with various medical instruments.
"The patient has developed heart failure. Professor Shen, I heard you are his attending physician. Could you take a look?" The doctor frowned.
"I'll go change my clothes first." I turned and left.
For some reason, my hands are shaking.
I was even more nervous than when I first entered the operating room.
Two hours later.
The hospital was still brightly lit.
At four in the morning, there were still young couples out celebrating the New Year and not going home.
I stepped out of the ward and let out a deep breath.
The doctor beamed, "Professor Shen, that's wonderful! Mr. Huo's condition has finally stabilized. You're amazing!"
I waved my hand and said, "It's nothing."
"Professor Shen, your emergency treatment plan is really good, I wonder..." The doctor rubbed his hands together.
I said, "I'll organize it later and you can send it to everyone so they can all refer to it."
"Okay, no problem." The doctor smiled. "In any case, your performance tonight was outstanding. Did Professor Shen learn Western medicine from Professor Ming?"
I smiled and said, "Yes, he said that as doctors, we can't be complacent and can't always see other people's shortcomings. We also need to see their strengths. We should develop our own advantages and learn from other people's strengths and experiences."
The doctor nodded: "I understand, Professor Shen. You've worked so hard tonight. You should go home and get some rest."
"Mmm." I smiled.
They left together.
A nurse was left in the ward to take care of Huo Yubai.
Huo Fei stepped forward. "Professor Shen."
"Uncle Huo Fei, he's out of danger." I turned around. "You should rest more in the future and not do anything reckless like this again. You'll get better."
"How could he possibly listen to me?" Huo Fei said bitterly, "Don't be fooled by him calling me 'uncle,' because I can't fight city hall."
I remained calm and composed.
“Shen Yan, I’m not trying to elicit sympathy from you, but Yu Bai has really had a tough time these past few years.” Huo Fei hesitated, “You don’t know, although he and Yu Shen are twins, their fates were completely different from birth. Yu Shen was taken away by the Huo family, while Yu Bai stayed with his mother.”
I was surprised.
"Then his mother... went crazy." Huo Fei's eyes were red. "She was a very nice girl. She went crazy because her child was taken away. You don't know, when she went crazy, she would run out without even putting on her clothes... saying she wanted to find her child. It was really pitiful."
As he said these things, my heart clenched.
Huo Yubai never mentioned these things.
"Later, his mother went too crazy and was sent to a mental hospital. He went from house to house with several relatives, and finally the Huo family abandoned him to me." Huo Fei choked up: "That's how he came to Haicheng."

Huo Fei stood behind me, his sigh deep.
I changed my clothes and left the hospital immediately.
I was afraid that I would unconsciously walk to his ward to see him the next second.
Come out of the hospital.
Gu Yunwei stood beside the car, leaning against the door, covered in snowflakes, smiling at me.
"What are you doing here?" I walked over.
He smiled faintly: "I've come to pick you up."
That's pretty direct.
“I have my own car, I don’t need anyone to pick me up.” I said coldly, “Gu Yunwei, don’t waste your time on me.”
"Whether it's a waste of time or not is my business." He smiled. "Of course, whether you accept me or when you accept me is your business."
I had a headache: "You don't think that if you pester me for a while, I'll agree to your request, do you?"
“I’m prepared for the long haul.” His eyes were deep. “You can drive yourself, or you can choose to ride with me. Either way, we’re going home the same way, aren’t we?”
“But I prefer to drive myself.” I turned and walked towards my car.
He chuckled.
After I drove away from the hospital, he followed me.
I glanced at the rearview mirror and then focused on driving.

Five o'clock in the morning.
Huo Yi arrived at the ward.
Huo Fei stayed by Huo Yubai's side.
"Just you?" Huo Yi asked.
Huo Fei nodded: "Shen Yan left after her surgery."
Huo Yi naturally understood what those words meant.
He asked Mu Xi, and Shen Yan's attitude was very firm.
“You must be tired too. You should go back. I’ll stay here and keep watch,” Huo Yi said.
Huo Fei, however, was worried.
“You don’t understand matters of the heart, and you can’t advise me on them, so I’ll handle it,” Huo Yi explained. “Don’t you have a lot of things to resolve at your company?”
"Everything at the company has been arranged, but Yu Bai's mother is still missing. We only got some new information yesterday, and I haven't even told him yet, and now he's like this," Huo Fei explained helplessly.
“Then go and investigate,” Huo Yi said in a deep voice. “Perhaps when he wakes up, you can bring him some good news.”
"Okay." Huo Fei then left.
Huo Yi sat down, looked at Huo Yubai's pale face, and mocked, "You deserve it, acting like you're going to die for a woman, look at your pathetic self!"
Suddenly.
Huo Yubai's fingers twitched, and he slowly opened his eyes: "You're quite good at cursing while I'm unconscious."
Huo Yi was embarrassed.
"Only you?" His voice was terribly hoarse.
“Shen Yan left a long time ago; Gu Yunwei picked her up,” Huo Yi said.
Huo Yubai frowned deeply.
"What, you're the only one allowed to like Shen Yan?" Huo Yi said sarcastically. "If it weren't for you, Shen Yan could have met someone better."
"Do you want me to kick you out?" Huo Yubai said weakly.
Huo Yi smiled and said, "Just kidding. Shen Yan drove away by herself. She was hurt so badly by you, how could she possibly be in a relationship?"
"You talk like you know everything." Huo Yubai closed his eyes. "If you're here to laugh at us, then get out now."
"Don't be so formal," Huo Yi said with a smile. "Don't you have an ace up your sleeve?"
"You mean Min Xiu?" Huo Yubai opened his eyes: "No, that's what I promised Han Li, I can't let Shen Yan find her."
"Things have come to this point, and you still want to say this? Actually, Shen Yan already knows half of her background. It doesn't matter if she knows the other half, does it?" Huo Yi said in a deep voice.
