Chapter 190 Someone Dislikes Huo Yubai So Much
The woman hesitated for a moment.
"Your son is in this state, what if something happens to him? Don't you care?" I looked into the woman's eyes: "Don't worry, I will keep it a secret. I just want to cure your son."
"Is it really possible?" the woman asked, her voice choked with emotion.
I nodded.
The woman glanced at the person next to her and whispered, "I'll come find you later."
"Okay, I'll wait for you." I didn't make things difficult for her anymore.
The woman breathed a sigh of relief: "Then I'll head back now."
"Hmm." I watched her leave.
The woman returned to her child's side, her eyes brimming with tears.
Jiang Miao walked up to me and said, "Professor Shen, something seems amiss."
I looked to the side and saw that several elders from Hejia Village had come.
They looked at me with a wary gaze.
I whispered, "Let's just do what we need to do and ignore them."
Jiang Miao nodded: "Shouldn't this child be taken to the hospital for a check-up?"
"I'll discuss it with them later," I said.
“Okay.” Jiang Miao said, “Then I’ll go back to the car to get something for the child’s mother, so she can be prepared in case something happens after we leave.”
"Go ahead."
Jiang Miao turned and left.
An old man approached me: "I heard you're a traditional Chinese medicine doctor. I wonder if you could take my pulse?"
“Of course.” I narrowed my eyes slightly. “Please extend your hand.”
He held out his left hand.
I gently placed my fingers on his wrist and then pressed down.
"Your health is generally good, but your spleen and stomach are a bit cold, which is affecting your appetite. If needed, I can prescribe some medicine for you." I looked at him with a half-smile.
His eyes darted around: "I haven't asked you your last name yet?"
“Shen,” I replied.
"Shen?" He frowned slightly.
“I’m just a doctor. If you don’t trust me, you can find someone else.” I smiled meaningfully. “I have a free clinic later, so I’ll head back now. You can find me at the village committee if you need anything.”
I started walking.
He watched my retreating figure, lost in thought.
I got back into the car.
After a long time, the child's mother finally arrived.
She got into the car, looked at me, and said excitedly, "Doctor, please, you must save my son."
She was about to kneel down, but I stopped her: "Speak your mind properly. If I can help you, I will."
“I’m afraid my son will become like Ah Xi.” The woman burst into tears.
I helped her sit down and asked, "Tell me slowly, who is Ah-happy?"
“Axi is a girl from the village. She was very healthy when she was a child, but one day she suddenly developed epilepsy and went insane. She’s in her forties or fifties now, and she’s outlived her parents. Now no one takes care of her. She lives alone in a small house on the west side of the village, talking to herself every day. It’s terrifying to look at.” The woman choked up.
"Didn't Ah-Xi's family take her to see a doctor?" I asked.
“The village chief wouldn’t allow it. He said family scandals shouldn’t be aired in public. If people found out, many people in the village would go crazy, and it would affect the other children,” the woman sobbed.
"Besides Ah-Xi, is there anyone else?" I frowned.
But thinking about it, it's not surprising.
"Yes, there are many. Most of their cases aren't too serious, but many of them got married and then divorced because their spouses' families found out about the problem." The woman held my hand: "I don't ask for my son to be rich and powerful, I just hope he can be safe. Doctor, please help us."
"Don't worry, now that I've encountered this, I'm not going to sit idly by." I said patiently, "Help me think of anyone else who has this condition, because your illness might be hereditary. Only by confirming the cause can I prescribe the right treatment for your son."
The woman named several more names.
I wrote them all down.
When she left, I gave her a packet of medicine: "Take this medicine home and decoct it. Give it to your child twice a day. After a week, bring him to see me. Call this number and I'll make the arrangements."
"Thank you." The woman took the medicine and the card with her phone number on it, then turned and got out of the car.
I sent the list to Liang Hui and asked him to check it.
Huo Yubai slowly sat up from the back and pulled back the curtain: "I've heard the name Axi from my mother."
I was surprised.
"I think Ah Xi should be her cousin," Huo Yubai said, looking at me.
“I want to go and see.” I frowned. “If she’s left without anyone to care for her, I’d like to see if I can help her.”
“I’ll go with you,” he said.
"Have you forgotten what I said?" I scolded. "Your goal is too obvious."
He laughed and said, "I have a way to make them not recognize me."
I don't understand.
He pulled the curtain back up.
Half an hour later, the curtain was opened again.
He changed his clothes.
I don't know where he got a set of clothes for a young man, and a head of dark blue wig.
But for some reason, he actually looked kind of handsome in it.
"Where did it come from?" I asked, puzzled.
"Qi Yang prepared it for me," Huo Yubai replied.
I was speechless: "Has Qi Yang become your little follower now?"
"I think he's pretty good, very capable." Huo Yubai didn't forget to whisper sweet nothings in my ear.
They must have promised Qi Yang something!
I laughed in exasperation: "His taste is really terrible."
“But he said that’s what the young people in the village dressed like.” Huo Yubai suddenly became very naive and innocent.
I scoffed: "Even if you change your clothes and wear a wig, what about your face?"
Huo Yubai picked up a face mask, which was printed with Gothic letters and patterns.
I:"……"
"How was it?" he asked sincerely.
"If you like it, that's fine." I said, somewhat helplessly.
He smiled and urged me to get out of the car.
After getting off the car.
We walked in the direction the woman had indicated.
As we approached, we saw a dilapidated little house in the distance. The doors and windows of the house were made of iron bars, and we could hear a woman wailing from inside.
"You two!" A row of boys around fifteen or sixteen years old sat on the low wall next to them.
Not to mention, their attire is quite similar to Huo Yubai's.
"Are you calling us?" I looked over. "What is it?"
“That woman is crazy.” A white-haired boy held a sugarcane in his hand. “She likes to bite people, you’d better stay away.”
"Has anyone in the village been bitten by her?" I asked curiously.
"I don't know then." The white-haired man looked at me. "Are you one of the doctors here for this free clinic?"
I nodded.
"And him?" The white-haired man glanced sideways at Huo Yubai: "He's dressed in a weird way."
"How dare you say that to me?" Huo Yubai sneered.
White Hair said unhappily, "What's wrong with you? Your temperament doesn't match this outfit at all. Look at us and then look at you. You're out of place and have no class whatsoever."
Huo Yubai: "..."
I couldn't suppress the urge to smile; it was the first time someone had ever shown such disdain for Huo Yubai.
Let's see what he does!
