Chapter 474
Chapter 474
They charged forward relentlessly, attacking with sharp claws and fangs. The group struggled to defend themselves, each step forward costing them dearly. Some were cut by the earth demons' claws, bleeding profusely; others, exhausted, staggered, but not one retreated.
After a fierce battle, they finally reached the cave entrance. Without resting, Jing Chu and his companions immediately began working together to move the massive boulders around them. These boulders were incredibly heavy, each requiring several people to lift. But they gritted their teeth, using their last ounce of strength to pile the boulders one by one towards the cave entrance. The earth-walking demons charged forward frantically, trying to stop them from blocking the entrance. Jing Chu and the others continued moving the boulders while brandishing their weapons to fend off the demons' attacks.
Finally, with everyone's combined efforts, the cave entrance was successfully blocked. Without the constant stream of reinforcements, the earth demons' attacks gradually weakened. Their cries became less arrogant, turning into sounds of panic and despair. Ultimately, Jing Chu and the others successfully repelled the remaining earth demons.
Everyone collapsed to the ground, panting heavily, overwhelmed by exhaustion.
After repelling wave after wave of earth-walking demons, the group collapsed onto the ground, panting heavily. Sweat mixed with blood streamed down their faces, soaking the earth beneath them. Their chests heaved violently, exhaustion overwhelming them like a surging tide. The cave was thick with the stench of blood and gunpowder, and a deathly silence reigned, broken only by the heavy breathing of the group echoing in the darkness.
Just as everyone caught their breath, thinking they could finally enjoy a moment of peace, a low, muffled rumbling sound slowly drifted from the depths of the cave. The sound was initially faint, but it seemed to carry some invisible force, gradually growing deafening. Startled, everyone struggled to their feet and warily looked towards the source of the sound. They saw the cave walls tremble violently, cracks spreading rapidly like a spiderweb, and small pieces of stone constantly peeling away and falling.
Immediately following, with a deafening roar, a gigantic earthwalker, its body as large as a mountain, burst forth from the rock. Its form almost completely filled the cave passage, emanating an eerie green light that illuminated the surrounding darkness, yet also amplified the scene's sinister and terrifying atmosphere. Its eyes, like two enormous lanterns, flashed with a chilling, malevolent light, seemingly able to see into the hearts of those present. With each step it took, the ground trembled violently, as if a mini-earthquake had occurred; the group lost their footing and had to support each other to avoid falling.
Jing Chu, struggling to his aching body, gritted his teeth and stood up. His face was slightly pale, but his gaze remained resolute. He gripped the nicked but still sharp sword in his hand and shouted, "Don't panic, everyone! We've come this far side by side, are we afraid of this mere monster? Attack together!" The group helped each other up, struggling to their feet, and resumed their fighting stances, their eyes filled with a resolute determination to die for their cause.
Enraged by the crowd's resistance, the giant earth-walking demon roared, a sound that pierced their ears. It swung its thick, log-like arms, creating a whooshing sound as it swept towards the group. Where its arms passed, the air seemed to tear apart, the powerful gusts of wind whipping up surrounding rocks and dust. Jing Chu reacted swiftly, his body moving like a black lightning bolt, nimbly dodging to the left, narrowly avoiding the fatal blow. Seizing the opportunity, he leaped off the ground, soaring high into the air, his sword, imbued with all his strength and unwavering resolve, slashing fiercely at the giant earth-walking demon's arm.
With a loud clang, the sword struck its steel-hard skin, only sending up a few faint sparks, as if it had struck a thick city wall, without causing any real damage. Jing Chu's heart sank; this monster's defense was far beyond his expectations.
Seeing this, the pharmacist was frantic. He quickly crouched down, took out various herbs and powders from his medicine pouch, and, relying on his years of experience and superb medical skills, concocted a powerful poison in a very short time. He filled the poison into a specially made bamboo tube, gathered his inner strength, and shot it forcefully at the giant earth-walking demon. The poison accurately struck its body; however, this only caused the giant earth-walking demon to let out an angry roar. Far from being affected, its attack became even more ferocious. It wildly swung its arms, constantly ramming into the surrounding stone walls, causing rocks to fly and dust to fill the cave.
Under the fierce attack, the group was forced to retreat, sustaining numerous new wounds and finding themselves in dire straits. Just at this critical moment, Jing Chu, amidst the intense battle, inadvertently caught sight of the giant earth-walking demon's head. He was surprised to find a slightly raised area there, its color subtly different from the surrounding skin—it seemed to be its weak point. Overjoyed, he shouted at the top of his lungs, "Attack its head! That's its weak point! Everyone, concentrate your strength!"
Upon hearing this, the crowd grasped at a straw, their eyes gleaming with renewed hope. Ignoring their exhaustion and injuries, they unleashed their full power, attacking the protrusion. Some threw hidden weapons, some fired arrows, and others brandished their weapons, charging with all their might towards the giant earth demon.
The giant earth-walking demon seemed to sense the danger, frantically twisting its body in an attempt to stop the group's attack. But the group didn't back down, cooperating closely and providing cover for each other. Jing Chu seized the opportunity, leaping high again, and with the group's cover, successfully approached the giant earth-walking demon's head. He concentrated all his inner strength into his sword, roared, and fiercely thrust the sword into the protrusion.
With a piercing scream, the giant earth monster's body trembled violently. Its eyes gradually lost their light, and its massive form swayed a few times!
Finally, the giant earth-walking monster crashed to the ground, shaking the earth. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief and collapsed to the ground. But before they could fully relax, a strange sound came from the depths of the cave, like some mysterious force stirring. Jing Chu forced himself to stand up and cautiously looked into the depths.
Suddenly, a blinding blue light flashed, and a ghostly, ethereal figure slowly emerged. It emanated a chilling aura, its eyes malevolent, seemingly capable of seducing the very soul. The ghost waved its hand, unleashing a powerful blast of cold air that instantly made everyone shiver and slowed their movements.
Jing Chu knew he couldn't just sit and wait to die. He gritted his teeth, circulated his inner energy to dispel the chill, and then called his companions to regroup. The pharmacist quickly concocted pills to resist the cold and distributed them to everyone. After taking the pills, the chill lessened slightly, and they began to work together to fight the ghost. Jing Chu seized an opportunity and thrust his sword at the ghost, but it was as if he had passed through a cloud of smoke, having no effect. Just when everyone was at a loss, the pharmacist noticed that the ghost's blue light flickered in a regular pattern and shouted, "Attack when its blue light dims!" Everyone did as he was told, and finally, at the moment the blue light dimmed...
