Chapter 79 Explanation
Chapter 79 Explanation
Chu Xinyao stood before She Mo, her eyes filled with deep pain and confusion. Her hand gently stroked her belly, where she and She Mo's cubs were growing. "Yes, cubs, I'm pregnant."
“Serpent Ink, do you know how I fled from the Serpent Ink Tribe in such a sorry state with our cubs?” Her voice trembled, each word like blood and tears squeezed from the deepest part of her heart. “I was carrying our cubs, and I should have received your protection and love, but you exposed my identity as a saintess to the public, making me prey in everyone’s eyes.”
Her eyes held endless disappointment, as if questioning him about why he treated her and the children so cruelly. "You not only put me in danger, but you also used me and the cubs as bait. Do you think we are so insignificant?"
Chu Xinyao's tears silently streamed down her face. "Eight days ago, it was your people who attacked the ship and almost caused me to miscarry. If it weren't for He Yu, you might be seeing the cubs and my corpse right now."
She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself, but the anger and pain in her heart erupted like a volcano, uncontrollable. "Snake Ink, have you ever considered that when you made these decisions, you not only betrayed me, but also hurt us? How can I forgive you? How can I trust you again?"
“I always thought you were my support, the protector of our cubs. But now I realize I was wrong. You are just a selfish orc, an orc who would sacrifice everything for power and status.” A resolute glint flashed in Chu Xinyao’s eyes, and her hands clenched into fists.
The voice gradually lowered, filled with sorrow. "Snake Ink, you have utterly disappointed me. So, never appear before me and the cubs again!"
With a thud, Shemo knelt down, her dark red eyes filled with immense pain and self-reproach.
Chu Xinyao was startled by his action. From childhood to adulthood, none of the men she had ever met had ever knelt down like this. Every one of them valued dignity above all else.
A complex mix of emotions welled up within her, including surprise, confusion, and an indescribable sense of unease.
"Yao, let me explain." Shemo's voice trembled, filled with urgency. He wanted to explain, to win back Chu Xinyao's heart. "I didn't use you as bait. The news wasn't leaked. I just resented Huxiao and Heyu for ruining our marriage ceremony, so I leaked the news to them. The other tribes didn't know."
His words were tinged with helplessness, his eyes fixed on Chu Xinyao. "I admit, I was blinded by anger, but I really never intended to hurt you, much less put you and the cubs in danger. I had everything planned out. If they hadn't taken advantage of the fact that someone in the tribe was giving birth and your guards hadn't been a little lax, I would never have given them the chance to take you away."
He grabbed Chu Xinyao's skirt and rested his head on her knees, his movements full of dependence. "Yao, you and I could have been together for life. Have you forgotten? You promised me."
"Get up first. A man's knees are worth gold. How can a real man kneel down so easily?" Chu Xinyao glared at him. His humble attitude actually extinguished half of the raging anger in her heart.
"I am a male beastman, not some kind of man." Snake Ink acted shamelessly, clinging tightly to Chu Xinyao's leg, as if that would keep her there.
"I was wrong, Yao, I was wrong, please forgive me?" he pleaded. A dark green snake tail silently appeared, took out a dagger, and handed it to Chu Xinyao.
His actions puzzled Chu Xinyao. Holding the dagger, she didn't understand his intentions.
“My vital spot is my seven-inch mark. If you still don’t believe me, you can stab me with this dagger. I’m willing to prove it with my life.”
"You!" Chu Xinyao glared at him angrily, then suddenly stomped hard on the tip of his tail. This guy really knew how to use crying, making a scene, and threatening suicide—he was a master at it.
Snake Ink winced in pain, letting out a muffled groan. A flash of pain crossed his face, but he didn't let go of Chu Xinyao's legs; instead, he hugged her even tighter.
"You scoundrel, let go."
“I won’t let go. Once I do, you won’t talk to me anymore, Yao,” he looked up at her, his face full of sorrow. “I can’t live without you, and the cubs can’t live without their father!”
Chu Xinyao froze, then sighed, "She Mo, why are you doing this to yourself?"
She Mo lowered his head, but his arms tightened around Chu Xinyao. "Yao, without you, I really would die." He recalled the time he lost Chu Xinyao, and every day he was in unbearable pain, as if the whole world had lost its color.
Outside, Tsuruha frowned, his ears constantly picking up the faint sounds of conversation emanating from inside the room. The thought of him, dressed in festive feathered robes, unable to step through that door was ironic.
A-Da and the others standing to the side stared warily at Hu Xiao, who was walking towards them, gripping their weapons tightly and wary of the tall orc.
Tiger Roar beckoned to Crane Feather, signaling him to come aside and talk.
"Today is the day you and Yao Yao get married, so why are you locked out?" Hu Xiao asked He Yu with a puzzled look, a hint of mockery in his voice, looking at the heavily guarded bridal chamber.
How could He Yu not understand his implied meaning? His face was ugly, but he still sighed and said, "He is the First Beast Master. I am under his control. He won't let me in, so I..." He Yu's voice became softer and softer. So he wanted Chu Xinyao to subdue Tiger Roar. With Tiger Roar helping to attract hatred, it would be easy for him to see Xin'er.
Tiger Roar's eyes darted around, and he patted him on the shoulder, saying, "I'll help you!"
Crane Feather was taken aback, then followed closely behind Tiger Roar. "What are you going to do? Don't do anything rash." His voice was somewhat worried. Tiger Roar wasn't even a Beast Master yet, so what use could he be now?
"Watch me do it."
Tiger Roar approached the bridal chamber, but was stopped by Ah Da. Crane Feather was their mistress's second beast husband, so they naturally wouldn't stop him, but they wouldn't easily let this white tiger beastman pass.
"Stop!" Ah Da's voice carried a warning, his eyes showing vigilance.
Tiger Roar stopped, a playful glint in his eyes. "Fine, I won't come any closer." He looked towards the window and suddenly shouted, "Crane Feather, today is your wedding night! Why are you still standing here? What? Snake Ink won't let you in? Whose first beast husband is so domineering and jealous?!"
The two people inside the house changed their expressions slightly upon hearing the tiger's roar.
Chu Xinyao's face flushed, and she felt inexplicably guilty. She Mo stared at the door with displeasure, but he still held Chu Xinyao tightly, determined not to let go.
"Um, Mo, you can go out now!"
Shemo looked up at Chu Xinyao, whose cheeks were slightly flushed, and felt a pang of jealousy. But he also knew that Heyu was already Chu Xinyao's second beast husband, and that was a done deal, something he couldn't change.
However, since he was the First Beast Husband, he had plenty of ways to deal with He Yu after tonight. He looked at Chu Xinyao's belly and smiled, truly blessed by the Beast God.
