Chapter 252 The Secret of the Orphanage (1)
Led by the director, Dean followed her into the orphanage, turning back to look at her every step of the way.
After seeing Dean off, Song Qianyi and Yue Zimu immediately returned to the mine.
After all, there are still many things waiting for them here.
More than a month has passed in the blink of an eye.
The issues at the mine have been mostly resolved.
There are still some finishing touches to take care of; that can be left to Katie.
Song Qianyi has been in MD for more than two months, it's time for her to go back.
Yue Zimu had already returned to China half a month ago.
Before leaving, Song Qianyi decided to visit Dean at the orphanage.
For so long, she hadn't visited him.
This time, Song Qianyi didn't inform the dean; she went secretly, wanting to give Dean a surprise.
When Song Qianyi and Xi Er arrived at the orphanage, they noticed something was wrong.
It's 4 p.m., a time when children should be playing, but the orphanage is unusually quiet.
They brought Dean over around this time last time, and the yard was filled with the children's laughter.
But at this moment, the door was tightly shut, and not a sound could be heard, except for the occasional gust of wind, which carried a somewhat eerie feel.
The orphanage's walls weren't very high, and Song Qianyi and Xi Er quietly climbed over them.
They went to the backyard, which was the dormitory for the children and staff.
Song Qianyi faintly heard the dean's voice.
But her voice was no longer as gentle as before; instead, it was filled with coldness and ruthlessness.
Song Qianyi and Xi Er quietly walked over to the half-open door and cautiously peered inside through the crack.
The dean stood in the center of the room, surrounded by several men in black suits. Their expressions were cold and their eyes revealed a chilling ruthlessness.
The dean's face was grim, his eyes sweeping over the men in black as he spoke in an icy tone.
"Make sure all the children are taken away tonight. Be extremely careful on the way and don't let anything go wrong. The higher-ups are keeping a close eye on this shipment. If anything goes wrong, we can't afford to take the blame."
"Dean Rand, don't you trust us to handle things?"
A tall man in black with a hideous scar on his face spoke, his tone slightly ingratiating.
"Hmph, that's for the best. Several of these children have already been reserved. The higher-ups specifically instructed us to ensure they arrive unharmed."
As Dean Rand spoke, a ruthless glint flashed in his eyes.
Song Qianyi was alarmed. She quickly glanced around and realized that the children were not in this office.
It seems the children have been kept elsewhere by Dean Rand.
Soon, the men in black began to emerge from the room one after another.
Footsteps echoed in the narrow corridor, each one like a heavy hammer blow to Song Qianyi's heart.
Xi Er held Song Qianyi tightly, hiding behind a cabinet piled with miscellaneous items not far away.
As the last man in black left the room, the sound of his footsteps gradually faded into the distance.
Song Qianyi lowered her voice and spoke solemnly to Department Two.
"Second, quickly and quietly follow behind these men in black, find out exactly where the children are, and come find me immediately once you find them."
Xi Er nodded slightly, and then, like a nimble cat, silently followed in the direction the man in black had left.
Song Qianyi went to the window and turned her attention back to Dean Rand in the room.
A thin man wearing gold-rimmed glasses standing next to the dean frowned slightly and asked in a low voice.
“That kid named Dean has only been here for a month. Won’t he be discovered if he’s in such a hurry? After all, he was sent here by an outsider, so his situation is different from the other kids.”
Dean Rand snorted coldly, a hint of disdain flashing in his eyes.
"What problem could there be? Those who brought their children here were just being soft-hearted. Once they brought the children here, how could they possibly care about them? Besides, it's been a month. Who would even remember them?"
"But... what if they really come back to check?"
The bespectacled man was still somewhat worried, a hint of unease in his eyes.
"Hmph, even if they come, they won't find any evidence. Once the children are sent away, they'll vanish into thin air. What can they possibly find out?"
Dean Rand's eyes were sinister, and his tone carried an undeniable ruthlessness.
Hearing this from outside the window, Song Qianyi was furious. She clenched her fists so tightly that her nails almost dug into her palms.
Suddenly, Dean Rand looked out the window.
"Who?!"
