Chapter 17 Murong Yi Finds Lin Xiao
Chapter 17 Murong Yi Finds Lin Xiao
With a cold expression, Murong Yi led Xiao Die and a group of soldiers to the bandits' stronghold once again.
The place seemed increasingly remote and desolate, with the surrounding trees blocking out the sun and exuding a sinister atmosphere. The cave was hidden behind the mountain wall, and its entrance faintly emanated a chill, like a gaping maw ready to devour its prey.
Looking at the desolate and perilous surroundings, Xiaodie couldn't help but imagine the terrible things her mistress might have encountered, and tears streamed down her face like a burst dam.
She clutched Murong Yi's sleeve tightly, her voice trembling and choked with sobs, pleading, "Your Highness, please, you must rescue Miss! Miss is so gentle and kind; if she falls into the hands of these wicked bandits, she will surely suffer endless torment."
Murong Yi gently patted Xiaodie's shoulder to reassure her: "Don't panic, I will do my best. Stay here and don't make any noise so as not to alert her." After saying that, he turned to direct several soldiers and solemnly instructed them: "You must protect her well and there must be no mistakes."
After making the arrangements, Murong Yi cautiously approached the cave. He was agile and light-footed, his eyes revealing vigilance and determination. Every step he took was extremely careful, for fear of triggering any traps or mechanisms set by the bandits.
Xiaodie stood there, hands clasped together, silently praying, her eyes fixed on Murong Yi's back, murmuring to herself, "Your Highness, you must be careful."
Murong Yi slowly entered the cave, his movements agile yet extremely cautious. Each step was light and deliberate, as if afraid of disturbing this seemingly peaceful but treacherous bandit hideout. The cave was dimly lit, with only a few faint rays of light struggling to seep in from the cracks in the ceiling, barely illuminating the path ahead. His eyes struggled to adjust to the darkness, keenly scanning his surroundings for any movement.
Gradually, he faintly heard a familiar voice, a voice that sounded like Lin Qianqian's, gentle yet firm. Murong Yi's heart tightened instantly, his brows furrowing slightly, filled with doubt. Normally, if Lin Qianqian had truly been captured by the bandits, there should be endless sounds of whipping and crying right now. How could she be so peaceful? This unusual situation made him more vigilant, and he quickened his pace, quietly approaching the source of the sound, eager to find out the truth behind it all.
The bandits were listening intently to Lin Xiaoqian's strategy for dealing with the flood, the cave so quiet that only Lin Xiaoqian's voice echoed. Suddenly, with a "crack," a tree branch was accidentally broken by Murong Yi, the crisp sound particularly abrupt in the silent cave, instantly shattering the peaceful atmosphere.
The bandits, alert, looked in the direction of the cave entrance and saw Murong Yi's figure appear not far away. Almost instinctively, they assumed a defensive posture; some quickly grabbed their weapons, while others crouched low, staring at Murong Yi as if facing a formidable enemy. Murong Yi, too, tensed instantly, crouching slightly, drawing her sword. With a flash of cold light, she was ready to fight them.
Seeing this, Lin Xiaoqian was greatly alarmed, fearing that Murong Yi might encounter misfortune. She hurriedly took a few steps forward, opened her arms, and loudly urged, "Everyone, hold on! Calm down!" At the same time, taking advantage of the fact that everyone's attention was drawn to her shouts, she quickly winked at Murong Yi, her eyes conveying a hint and reassurance, indicating that he should not act rashly and that everything was still under control.
Murong Yi caught Lin Xiaoqian's gaze. Although she still had doubts, she nodded slightly, but her swordsmanship remained firm as she vigilantly watched the bandits' every move.
