Chapter 18 In the Elevator
Chapter 18 In the Elevator
"How impatient," Miao Yin complained, then swung her hand and killed a mutant that lunged at her.
The mutants outside the door had been waiting for a long time. Because the alarm was two meters away from the control room, they were attracted by the sound but did not see any food, so they kept circling around the alarm in confusion.
Miao Yin first took out the remote control and turned off the alarm to stop the piercing sound before she could concentrate on dealing with the monsters.
For some reason, despite the alarms sounding so loudly, the mutants that came were not as powerful as expected. Miao Yin killed eight mutants before she could get a single green crystal core.
There must be a demon in the abnormal situation.
Thinking of Zhang Manyu's earlier description of a deformed creature with three heads, three arms, and three legs, she touched her lips, somewhat troubled: "No way..."
If that's the case, then it's a huge problem; we'll probably have to resort to artillery fire.
That means the hellish shopping mall will have to be blown up ahead of schedule.
Perhaps it was just as she guessed. After killing these mutants, the eleventh floor became quiet. Miao Yin passed by Lin Yaozong, who was still blocking the door, sighed, kindly moved him to a different spot, and then went directly to the elevator that the survivors had been longing for.
There are three elevators in total, each with a capacity of fifty people, and they can take you directly down to the underground parking lot.
The elevator is beautifully decorated and looks very grand. The doors are painted with images of popular cartoon characters, the decorations are sparkling, and even the three buttons emit colorful lights.
Miao Yin pressed the buttons for all three elevators to this floor, making it easier to escape if necessary.
"Ding-dong, eleventh floor."
Within seconds of the notification sound, Miao Yin twisted her neck and loosened her muscles.
The elevator, which had been deserted for a long time, opened its doors to the only customer in the past week, revealing the numerous wounds inside its abdomen.
Two incredibly ugly, mutated humans suddenly sprang out, baring their fangs as they lunged at Miao Yin.
Miao Yin was prepared. After being baptized by the crystal core, the greatly enhanced power of the Ember Fire directly scorched the two aberrations. They fell to the ground and rolled around in the raging flames.
However, these two mutants enjoyed the entire elevator's worth of food all to themselves. Although they were starving for a few days afterward, their strength was still top-notch, at least reaching the level of a green crystal core.
Instinct drove them to desperately try to escape the flames, but their thirst for flesh and blood made them withstand the attack with their bare bodies and begin to counterattack Muyin.
They climbed the wall, one extended a sharp claw, stepped onto the wall, and pounced on her amidst the rustling plaster.
The other one flicked out a long, barbed tongue at Miao Yin with such speed that it made a whooshing sound.
Not to be outdone, Miao Yin grabbed a large sword and started fighting them.
Magma and flames enveloped her body, protecting her. Miao Yin's Tang sword caught the opponent's claws, and she quickly bent down to dodge the long tongue, taking the opportunity to pull out another large sword and cut the tongue off.
Amidst the painful screams of another mutant, she used the momentum to flip over in the air and kicked the mutant hard in the head.
The bones, already charred and brittle from the fire, cracked under the heavy blow, and were actually broken by Miao Yin's kick!
Her light blue dress drew a graceful arc in the air as she landed lightly on the ground like a butterfly. She then plunged two large knives into the deformed man's heart and abdomen, one above the other, before kicking him away.
The mutated man lay sprawled on the marble tiles, gushing out a sticky, foul-smelling liquid like a fountain.
Miao Yin casually swung her broadsword, and like a knife flying over an apple, she nailed the long-tongued mutant who was still howling on the wall to death.
This entire set of movements was crisp, clean, and extremely fast, fully demonstrating the skills that White Rakshasa had honed through countless battles over the past ten years of the apocalypse.
She stretched lazily like a cat, then pried open their skulls.
The mutants who weren't robbed of food looked good; their crystal nuclei were lush and green, full of vitality.
Within the clear, transparent gemstone, Miao Yin's eyebrows and eyes curved into crescents.
……
"The sound... is gone?"
In the control room, someone asked tremblingly, their face full of shock.
Although they were the ones who pushed people out, no one actually thought Miao Yin would succeed. Rather than turning off the alarm, it was more like sending them to their deaths. Letting the monsters outside eat more would make it easier for them to survive.
Liao Qian was also filled with doubt and surprise. She was closest to the door and listened intently, but she couldn't hear anything. After a brief commotion, the outside fell silent, which terrified her.
"Damn, this little star has this kind of ability?" Wang Hong said.
Seeing that it seemed safe, Zhang Manyu came out as well: "Will she... still be alive?"
Liao Qian shook his head: "I can't tell."
"Could she have already escaped!" a boy exclaimed. "Then can we...?"
"Are you an idiot? Lin Yaozong is dead outside. How could she, a woman, possibly get out? If you ask me, she's probably already been eaten." Wang Hong said, somewhat annoyed.
Such a stunning beauty, usually only seen on TV, is a rare sight indeed. I wish I had acted sooner; I'm so sorry.
The boy choked for a moment, his voice lowered considerably, but he still muttered a few words in rebuttal: "What if? If she's still alive, doesn't that mean it's pretty safe outside? Then we can get out."
"Why don't you go and confirm it?" Wang Hong mocked. "Oh, I remember now, weren't you the first one to let Lin Yaozong leave?"
Upon hearing this, the expressions of everyone in the control room changed.
The boy's face immediately turned ugly: "What do you mean, criticizing me? You weren't involved in that?"
"Why are you so agitated? Can't I even say something? We're all in the same boat anyway, what's with the pretense? You agree, Liao Qian." Wang Hong clapped his hands.
Liao Qian remained silent, his expression icy.
"I told you not to bring this up again."
Wang Hong chuckled to himself, thinking to himself that it had to be Liao Qian. Her acting skills were even better than those minor celebrities; she was a professional con artist.
“But we’re running out of food too, and no one has come to our rescue. If things are still okay outside, we should at least go to the amusement park,” a woman suggested.
Because of Lin Yaozong's incident, they haven't been to the amusement park for two days. If this continues, they'll starve to death inside, let alone wait for someone to rescue them.
Moreover, the prolonged period of semi-starvation weakened everyone's bodies, leaving them without the strength to venture out on their own.
Liao Qian rubbed his temples: "You're right, we can't delay the food issue any longer. We need to find a way to check on the situation outside."
"Qi Sun, is there really no way to fix this surveillance system?"
Qi Sun, one of the staff members here, shook his head: "There's really no way to fix it. If it could be fixed, I would have fixed it long ago."
"Then we can only do the same as before: select a few people, form a team, and go to the amusement park to find food."
Liao Qian looked around and asked, "Is anyone willing to go?"
Those who were being looked at by her all lowered their heads and avoided her gaze.
Liao Qian sighed: "Alright, then let's do it the same way as before. Take out the slips of paper from before, and everyone can draw one."
