Chapter 192 Rescue
Chapter 192 Rescue
Zhao Yuan walked over with steady steps, carefully examined the surgical consent form, his brows furrowing slightly, and said:
"Doctor, look at this situation. We've never met this patient before, we don't even know their name! Paying money isn't a big problem, but this is a matter of life and death, we really can't make the decision. How about this, could you ask the leaders of your hospital to personally step in and share this responsibility with us?"
As Zhao Yuan spoke, he couldn't help but recall a similar situation he had seen in his previous life and the solutions he had taken at that time. He thought to himself: In such cases, it is usually the hospital leaders who step in to coordinate and handle the situation.
After listening to Zhao Yuan's suggestion, the doctor thought for a moment and then nodded in agreement:
"Okay, I'll contact the medical department right away."
After saying that, he tightly gripped the surgical consent form in his hand, turned around, and walked into the operating room.
With a soft sound, the heavy operating room door slowly closed, isolating the outside world from the tense atmosphere inside.
Time passed by, and about five minutes later, everyone's attention was drawn to a figure—a middle-aged man in a white coat was walking briskly toward the operating room door.
"Hello! Are you two the kind people who brought Ms. Wen Yunfang to our hospital?"
The middle-aged man, wearing a white lab coat and glasses, asked with a smile.
Zhao Yuan nodded and replied:
"Yes, that's right, that's us."
His voice was calm and firm.
At this moment, the middle-aged man extended his hand and introduced himself:
"Hello, I am Dr. Tan, the head of the Medical Affairs Department at Shanghai People's Hospital. On behalf of the hospital, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to you for bringing the patient here in a timely manner. The patient's condition is currently very critical, but we are unable to contact her family immediately. Therefore, we would appreciate it if you could wait here until the patient successfully passes this critical period. Regarding the surgery, a surgical consent form needs to be signed by both of us. However, please rest assured that you will not bear any risks involved; you are merely witnesses."
After hearing these words, Zhao Yuan nodded without hesitation and said:
"Okay, no problem."
Then, Section Chief Tan turned and went into the operating room. Not long after, he came out again and led Zhao Yuan and Zhou Jiefang to a small room not far away.
"The patient is in septic shock and in critical condition. We are currently doing everything we can to save him!"
Section Chief Tan said with a serious expression, while handing the surgical consent form in his hand to Zhao Yuan and Zhou Jiefang.
After receiving the consent form, Zhao Yuan carefully read it word by word.
The text on it was densely packed, but written very clearly and neatly, providing a detailed and accurate description of the entire surgical procedure and the patient's current condition.
Although Zhao Yuan and Zhou Jiefang participated only as witnesses, they were well aware of the important significance of this consent form.
Without the slightest hesitation, Zhao Yuan and Zhou Jiefang quickly picked up pens and signed their names in the designated places.
The two then sat quietly on a bench outside the operating room, waiting anxiously and patiently.
Time passed by, seemingly stretched out infinitely, with each minute feeling exceptionally long.
About two hours later, the tightly closed operating room door finally opened slowly.
A figure wearing a mask and a light blue nurse's uniform appeared at the door.
She glanced first in the direction of Zhao Yuan and Zhou Jiefang, then quickly walked over and said softly:
"Wen Yunfang's family, please come over here and take a look at this specimen. The surgery has been successfully completed. This is the appendix removed from the patient and needs to be sent for pathological examination. As you can see, the patient's abdominal cavity is filled with pus. If she hadn't been brought to the hospital in time, the consequences would have been unimaginable. The patient will be wheeled out in a little while."
As soon as the nurse finished speaking, she turned around, took the tray containing the specimen, and walked back into the operating room, gently closing the operating room door behind her.
Zhao Yuan and Zhou Jiefang were left standing there, looking at each other, feeling as if they were in a fog, somewhat bewildered and lost about the series of events that had just happened, and even somewhat dazed as if in a dream.
About 20 minutes later, Wen Yunfang was finally slowly wheeled out of the operating room by medical staff, and then carefully pushed into a quiet and clean ward.
At this moment, a doctor, who looked slightly tired but remained focused and attentive, walked up to Zhao Yuan and Zhou Jiefang and said in a steady tone:
"The patient's anesthesia has not completely worn off, and he is still weak and unconscious. During this time, a family member needs to stay with him, so at least one of you needs to stay here to take care of him."
Upon hearing the doctor's instructions, Zhou Jiefang quickly nodded in response:
"Okay, thank you, doctor! You've worked hard."
Subsequently, the doctor and several nurses conducted a series of meticulous examinations on Wen Yunfang around the bed.
They checked various vital signs data, adjusted the infusion rate, and so on, everything seemed to be in good order.
After all the examinations were completed, the doctors and nurses quietly left the ward, leaving only Zhao Yuan and Zhou Jiefang to quietly wait by the bedside, hoping that Wen Yunfang would wake up soon.
After a while, Zhou Jiefang turned to look at Zhao Yuan and said softly:
"Mr. Zhao, why don't you go back and get back to work? I can stay here and watch over things. Once she wakes up, I'll try to help her contact her family."
Zhao Yuan nodded slightly in agreement and replied:
“Yes, that’s better. There’s no need to waste time here. It’s getting late, almost 5 o’clock. Here’s what we’ll do: you wait here for her to wake up. I’ll go back to ‘Zhao’s Kitchen’ and get her some food and a nutritious soup. She just had surgery, so she probably won’t be able to eat much for a while, but she can have some soup to replenish her nutrition.”
After saying this, Zhao Yuan got up and quietly walked out of the ward, driving towards "Zhao's Kitchen".
Zhou Jiefang, who remained in the ward, continued to sit quietly in his chair, his eyes fixed on Wen Yunfang, who was sleeping soundly on the bed, silently praying that she would regain consciousness as soon as possible and be safe and sound.
