Chapter 470: Clairvoyance
Chapter 470: Clairvoyance
"I blocked it for you on the plank road." Liu Wushuang forced a smile. "It's alright...it didn't hurt any vital organs..."
Lin Han quickly helped her sit down and took out "Qingling Powder" to heal her injuries.
The arrow wound wasn't deep, but the arrowhead was poisoned, and the area around the wound had turned bluish.
He carefully pulled out the arrow, applied medicinal powder, and then bandaged it with a clean strip of cloth.
"Why did you take the arrow for me?" Lin Han's voice was hoarse. "I could have dodged it..."
A blush crept onto Liu Wushuang's pale face: "Who knows if you can dodge... what if..."
Their eyes met in the dim cave, and they remained silent for a moment.
Lin Han's hand was still on her shoulder, and he could feel the warmth of her skin and her slight trembling.
A strange, indescribable emotion surged within him, making him both want to get closer and want to run away.
"Ahem..." Liu Wushuang coughed twice, breaking the silence. "Let's look at the map. We need to find a way to get out of here."
Lin Han snapped out of his daze and drew his twin swords. Even in the dim light, the patterns on the swords were still clearly visible.
He placed the two swords side by side on the ground, and their patterns combined to form a complete topographical map.
“We should be here now,” Liu Wushuang said, pointing to a mark on the map. “It’s still two days’ journey to the ‘Ghost’s Sorrow’ cliff. But the plank road is broken, and we need to find another route.”
Lin Han studied the map carefully: "The other end of the cave seems to lead to a valley. Following the valley northwards, we can circle around to the 'Bridge of Broken Souls.'"
“‘The Bridge of Broken Souls’?” Liu Wushuang frowned. “The legendary ancient bridge that has fallen into disrepair over the years?”
"That's how it's marked on the map." Lin Han sheathed his twin swords. "Rest for the night, we'll set off first thing tomorrow morning."
In one corner of the cave hall, there was some dry grass left by previous inhabitants, which could barely be used as a bed.
Liu Wushuang developed a fever due to her arrow wound, and Lin Han stayed by her side, wiping her forehead with a damp cloth from time to time.
"When I was little... when I had a fever... my mother took care of me like this..." Liu Wushuang murmured in her half-awake state.
Lin Han said softly, "My mother is too..."
He suddenly realized that the mother Liu Wushuang mentioned was from the Xuantian Sect, while the mother he remembered was the sect leader's wife who lived in anonymity.
The two images overlapped in his mind, then separated.
In the stillness of the night, the occasional howls of wild animals could be heard outside the cave.
Lin Han sat cross-legged and regulated his breathing according to the methods in the "Mysterious Heaven True Scripture".
The extraordinary phenomenon that occurred when the two swords were combined today left a deep impression on him. The feeling of resonating with heaven and earth seemed to conceal the deeper mysteries of the Nine Revolutions of the Mysterious Heaven.
As his inner energy circulated within him, Lin Han tried to recall the state he had been in at that moment.
Gradually, he felt his consciousness seem to detach from his body and float above the cave, where he could "see" the sleeping Liu Wushuang and himself meditating.
Even more remarkably, the rock wall no longer became an obstacle; his consciousness penetrated the rock and "saw" the scene outside the cave—
Yu Canglang and his men set up camp on the opposite bank, lighting a bonfire.
Amu lay to one side, his wounds from the caltrops already bandaged, but his face was ashen, clearly indicating he wouldn't live much longer.
Further away, several dark figures were climbing up the ropes towards them, seemingly preparing to launch a sneak attack!
Lin Han suddenly opened his eyes. The hallucination disappeared, but the feeling was incredibly real.
"Liu Wushuang!" he gently woke her. "Someone's coming!"
Liu Wushuang immediately regained her senses, her rapier in hand: "How many people?"
"I'm not sure, but I feel there are at least five of them, who climbed down from the cliff." Lin Han himself found it incredible that he could "see" what was happening outside the cave.
Liu Wushuang didn't question his intuition: "Your Xuan Tian Nine Revolutions have improved again?"
"It seems... I can sense the flow of energy around me." Lin Han himself was surprised.
“The Xuan Tian Sect’s scriptures mention this realm, called ‘Heavenly Eye’,” Liu Wushuang said in a low voice. “Now is not the time to discuss this; prepare to face the enemy.”
The two men lay in ambush on either side of the cave entrance.
Sure enough, after a short while, light footsteps and hushed voices could be heard outside:
"Are you sure it's in this hole?"
"What Amu said before he died..."
"Be careful, that kid's really weird..."
Lin Han and Liu Wushuang exchanged a glance and attacked simultaneously!
Two sword lights pierced the darkness like lightning, and the two Qingcheng Sect disciples at the front fell to the ground and died before they could even react.
The remaining three retreated hastily, only to be forced to the edge of a cliff.
"Jump down or die by my sword, choose one," Liu Wushuang said coldly.
The three men exchanged a glance and then actually turned and jumped off the cliff—it turned out they were all wearing safety ropes around their waists.
Lin Han wanted to give chase, but Liu Wushuang stopped him: "Don't waste your energy, let's save our strength for tomorrow's journey."
Back in the cave, Lin Han was still immersed in the strange experience: "That feeling...it was like my soul leaving my body..."
"The Heavenly Eye Technique is the supreme cultivation method of the Xuan Tian Sect, and only three to five people among the sect leaders throughout history have mastered it." Liu Wushuang's eyes gleamed with an unusual light. "You were able to comprehend it in such a short time; you truly possess a bloodline talent."
Lin Han recalled the flame mark that had once appeared on his forehead: "My mother...did she also have this ability?"
Liu Wushuang nodded: "Madam Zhou is the only woman in the Xuantian Sect in the past hundred years to have mastered the 'Nine Revolutions Return to One' technique. It is said that she can sense the movements of enemies from a hundred miles away."
The two lay down again, but neither could sleep.
Lin Han gazed at the stalactites on the cave ceiling, lost in thought.
Ever since he learned his true identity, he has felt something awakening within him, like a hibernating snake sensing the breath of spring.
“Liu Wushuang,” he asked softly, “if…if I really were the Sect Master of Xuantian Sect, would you always support me?”
In the darkness, he felt Liu Wushuang turn over to face him: "No."
Lin Han's heart tightened.
"I'll beat you up if you ask that stupid question again." Her voice laced with amusement. "Go to sleep, Sect Master, we have a long journey ahead tomorrow."
Lin Han's lips unconsciously curled up into a smile.
Outside the cave, all was quiet, with only the sound of each other's breathing.
Morning light filtered through the vines at the cave entrance, casting dappled shadows on the ground.
Lin Han opened his eyes and found that Liu Wushuang had already packed her things and was standing guard at the cave entrance.
"Awake?" She didn't turn her head. "The Qingcheng Sect has retreated; we need to hurry and get going."
Lin Han stretched his muscles and bones, and the fatigue from yesterday was completely gone.
He walked to the cave entrance, parted the vines and looked out—the opposite cliff was deserted, with only a few ropes swaying gently in the morning breeze, proving that last night's events were not an illusion.
"They gave up so quickly." Lin Han was somewhat surprised.
Liu Wushuang shook her head: "Yu Canglang isn't one to give up easily. I suspect they've gone around to ambush us ahead."
Following the map shown by the two swords, the two proceeded along the narrow passage at the other end of the cave.
The passage was initially only wide enough for one person to pass sideways, but it gradually became wider, and finally, just as the map indicated, it led to a deep valley.
