Chapter 70: Capturing the Leopard Woman?
Chapter 70: Capturing the Leopard Woman?
In the following period, Chen Song focused on training Ning's Nidalee jungle carry strategy and TheShy's top lane awareness.
The 9.12 patch was released on June 18th, featuring a rework of Mordekaiser, major changes to Ryze, a cooling down of AP junglers, and a resurgence of Lee Sin.
IG has now met their next opponent, SN.
Under the sweltering heat, the IG group arrived at the Tiandi Performing Arts Centre.
Coach Chen Song was dressed in a sharp suit and shiny leather shoes today.
His specially styled hair, in particular, made him look even more elegant.
Today's commentators are Wawa and Miller, who are ready to appear on the big screen.
"Alright, welcome back to the live broadcast. After a thrilling BO3, we now welcome the match between IG and SN."
Since this was the second match between IG and SN, they didn't have any opening remarks and went straight into the main event.
"Today's match is going to be very exciting because IG has brought in Coach Chen Song to handle the draft and ban phase again. Let's look forward to it."
Miller crossed his arms over his chest: "IG's overall performance has improved somewhat, while SN started the season in great form but then encountered some obstacles from JDG. I wonder if they can find their previous form again."
After Wawa finished speaking, he first launched into his usual "GG" comments, and then started discussing IG: "With Baolan and Ning's improved performance, the overall atmosphere of the IG team has improved a lot."
"As for SN, Maple's form has improved significantly, and Sima Laozei and SwordArt are also getting into their stride, so I think this team has a lot of potential."
"But my current concern about SN is whether BiuBiu can withstand TheShy's laning pressure. This is very important."
As the two commentators analyzed the game, the director focused the camera on each player one by one before finally switching the camera to the draft phase.
"Let's take a look. The blue side is SN. They banned Sejuani, Ryze, and Akali. Although Ryze was nerfed in the early stages of patch 9.12, those who know TheShy's Ryze know what I mean."
"The red side IG banned Olaf, Aatrox, and Azir."
This has been the case recently since the BP phase, with both sides having already banned three heroes.
"SN picks Sylas, so it's simple for IG to pick Irelia. Sylas is still a must-pick on the blue side, and Maple plays Sylas very well. I remember him stealing Neeko's ultimate and then taking on four opponents in one go."
Just as Miller predicted, the red side IG countered by picking Irelia.
Irelia is a very high priority champion.
As a versatile and strong hero, Chen Song prefers to pick Irelia.
Then there's the issue of which side each side chooses. Personally, he prefers to be on the red side.
After getting Irelia, the next step is to choose a hero for the second floor.
The top priority right now is undoubtedly Lux in the support role. As the strongest support in the current version, Lux can exert very strong pressure in lane when paired with AD carries like Sivir and Kalista.
A strong laner means being able to farm the turret plating, and being able to farm the turret plating gives you an economic advantage.
As the red side, although we don't have the advantage of picking the first hero, we have the advantage in the second and third picks and in counter-picking.
This advantage was naturally not to be missed, so Chen Song had Ning lock in Lux.
As for which AD carry to pair with, that depends on what AD carries will be available later.
The bot lane duo is inherently strong with Lux, and adding an AD carry is just icing on the cake.
You can make a decision based on the other party's choice.
Then, SN locked up the cat and Pyke on the second and third floors respectively.
When these two heroes were selected, you could see that the SN players and coaches all smiled knowingly.
"SN is really getting hyped up, huh? They're looking down on us, aren't they?"
JackeyLove didn't understand what SN meant, but he felt like he was being looked down upon by the other side. Starting off with such flashy moves, it was hard not to feel like they were provoking him.
"Let's take Xia."
Chen Song smiled.
JackeyLove nodded: "Dude, I'm going to teach Sima a lesson this game. Ever since he switched from AD to support, he's been doing all sorts of weird stuff."
In the next ban phase, both sides banned Kindred, Gragas, Renekton, and Jarvan IV respectively.
"SN is going to have a tough time in this bot lane matchup."
Doll exclaimed, "Your Pyke + Yuumi team, along with two long-range Xayahs and Lux in the bot lane, isn't this what we call actively getting countered?"
After banning the heroes, it was IG's fourth pick.
As the red side, with the jungler not yet available, Chen Song would definitely save the Counter for TheShy or Forge. However, his intention with Irelia in this game was very clear: to let Forge take the mid lane. Therefore, the Counter was prepared for TheShy.
So what should the jungler give Ning?
Rek'Sai? Lee Sin?
No! Since the other side has already brought out this lineup, of course we have to play something unconventional.
"Ning, what do you say? How about we pick Nidalee?"
Chen Song smiled.
Upon hearing this, Ning took a deep breath and then widened her eyes.
That expression seemed to say, "Can I?"
Since the coach had said so, Ning wasn't going to back down. He immediately nodded and said, "Okay, just watch my Nidalee performance this game."
"Okay, JackeyLove, you can lock Nidalee."
Chen Song gave instructions.
Just as Miller was about to begin his analysis, an avatar suddenly lit up on the fourth floor of IG.
Leopard Woman!
The noise in the entire venue vanished instantly, followed by even louder exclamations.
Miller was stunned.
He watched as IG successfully locked onto Nidalee on the fourth floor, his voice unconsciously rising a few decibels: "Nidalee? IG really locked onto Nidalee?!"
Wawa's eyes widened as well. She subconsciously glanced at Miller to make sure she wasn't seeing things, then took a deep breath and said, "My god! IG actually got Nidalee! If I remember correctly, this is the first time Ning has ever used Nidalee in a professional match?"
"My God, the hero picks of these two teams today are absolutely insane, but I believe the audience is very happy to see this kind of madness."
Miller was much more serious. He subconsciously pushed up his glasses: "But there are Lee Sin, Rek'Sai, and Xin Zhao outside. To be honest, IG's choice is too surprising, because in our current version, Nidalee's priority has dropped significantly."
Wawa chimed in, "That's absolutely right. The jungle environment has changed in patch 9.12. Picking Nidalee in this patch... if you say you played well, that's truly impressive, but if you're talking about risks..."
"The risk is very high." Miller continued, picking up where Wawa left off. "And you have to know, Ning has never played Nidalee in an official match. His style is aggressive yet meticulous, but as far as I can remember, he has played Nidalee very few times, not to mention in official matches, even in ranked games."
