Chapter 13 The Uses of the Little Devil
Chapter 13 The Uses of the Little Devil
Hellhound.
Tier 3 troops.
Lin Mo's pupils contracted slightly, but his expression remained unchanged.
"The lair of hellhounds?" he repeated, his tone as casual as if he were asking about the weather.
"Yes! The three-headed kind!" The black guy gestured, drawing circles in the air with his finger. "It's right next to the little devil's lair, about, uh, a few hundred meters away? There are flames there. I don't know why, but those flames are shooting out of the lair and have turned the ground black."
Lin Mo didn't reply; he lowered his head, as if he was thinking about something.
In fact, his brain was working at lightning speed.
The Hellhound, a Tier 3 unit of the Infernal race, boasts high attack power, high speed, and the "three-headed attack" trait, allowing it to attack three targets simultaneously. Early in the game, a single Hellhound can easily wipe out five or six Skeleton soldiers. If there are more than three, with its current forces, it has no chance of victory.
Even among all Tier 3 units, the Hellhound is considered one of the best.
"How many are there?" Lin Mo asked.
"What?"
"How many hellhounds are in the den?"
The Black man scratched his head and counted on his fingers: "I saw at least four. Maybe more, but I didn't dare go near them; those things were terrifying."
Four, plus possibly more.
Lin Mo quickly assessed the situation in his mind: with twenty-two skeleton soldiers, plus Jenova, and himself and Hammer, they had a chance of defeating two hellhounds. Against three, they could barely manage, but would suffer considerable losses.
There's basically no chance of winning against four of them.
We can't force it.
Not at least not now.
But Lin Mo didn't reveal these thoughts. He looked up at the black man, a slight smile playing on his lips: "You're interested in the hellhound's lair?"
The black man chuckled, revealing two rows of white teeth: "Brother, I'm interested in anything that can make me stronger. The world has changed; those old rules don't apply anymore. Now, whoever has the biggest fist is the boss."

He paused, then lowered his voice: "Some people have already started forming gangs in this area. There's a group of white people on the east side who have banded together to control some kind of 'guard tower,' which has several soldiers in armor carrying long spears inside. There's also a group of Hispanics on the west side who somehow got hold of a treasure that can summon blue-skinned monsters."
Lin Mo's expression remained calm, but his heart was in turmoil.
The watchtower is a troop building for human spearmen, capable of producing Tier 1 spearmen. Although a Tier 1 troop, spearmen are extremely powerful, belonging to the T0 tier among Tier 1 creatures. As for the blue-skinned monster, it might be a Great Fairy.
However, the most urgent task right now is neither the guard tower nor the hellhound.
It's a little devil.
Lin Mo glanced at the three little devils beside the black man. Red skin, sharp horns, little forks, hopping around—they looked comical. Most people, unaware of their purpose, would think they were useless except for being cute.
But Lin Mo knew their value.
The lesser demons themselves are indeed weak in combat; an ordinary skeleton soldier can take on two or three lesser demons. However, they possess a characteristic that Lin Mo desperately needs at this stage.
Magic Plunder!
Imps can draw free-floating magic from the void and replenish it to their master. Having three imps increases magic regeneration speed by 30%. Combined with the 20% from the magic ring, the overall regeneration speed is increased by 50%.
What does 50% mean?
This means he can summon at least three more skeletons every day, which adds up to nearly a hundred per month.
This is the true value of the little devil.
But Lin Mo couldn't reveal this desire; if the other party knew he wanted it, the balance of the deal would tip.
He had to act nonchalant.
"To be honest, nobody dares to mess with those hellhounds right now, so the information you provided is completely worthless... As for those little devils around you," Lin Mo scoffed, his tone clearly contemptuous, "what use are they besides scaring children?"
The black man's face stiffened slightly.
The three little devils beside him seemed to sense their master's emotions, squeaking a few times and waving their little forks as if in protest.
"They're not entirely useless..." the Black man argued. "They can guard doors, pass messages, and, uh..."
He was stuck, clearly unable to find any further advantages.
Lin Mo shook his head: "Give me some truly valuable information. If not, then I'm sorry, our deal has to end here."
"Wait!" the black man exclaimed anxiously. "Let me think... there is... a treasure chest. I know the location of one, but it's guarded by monsters, and no one has ever managed to get in..."
"This is quite interesting. Where is it located?" Lin Mo was very interested this time, and he wasn't pretending; he was genuinely interested.
"Brother, you have to tell me about this woman first, otherwise I'll be at a huge loss if you don't say anything later." The black man was quite shrewd.
"No problem, but how can I make sure you get the information and don't suddenly run away, or just tell me a fake news..." Lin Mo used the same tactic against him.
"I'll take you there, is that alright?" It was clear that the black man was very honest.
Ke Linmo wanted more.
"No way!" He shook his head, deliberately pondered for a moment, and then said, "You didn't open that treasure chest yourself, which means the creature guarding it is difficult to deal with, right? So essentially, this information isn't very valuable. A treasure chest you can't get is still worthless... Here, give me your three little devils along with the location of the treasure chest."
The location of a treasure chest, along with the information about the existence of a level-three hellhound lair nearby, and three lesser demons, meant that Lin Mo was definitely not going to lose out on this deal.
The Black man was clearly a little angry.
He wasn't stupid; he realized the other party was just trying to take advantage of him.
But after thinking about it carefully, he calmed down.
First, he has already taken control of a lesser demon's lair. Therefore, as long as he has enough 'gold coins,' he can obtain the corresponding number of lesser demons within a fixed production cycle.
Therefore, the three little devils were not some irreplaceable "possession" to him.
Secondly, he sensed that the woman beside the other party, who resembled an 'elf,' was definitely not simple. This information was crucial, and he had to obtain it.
Of course, more importantly, he couldn't beat his opponent.
Black people have a feeling that if he says "no," the person might have to stay there.
It wasn't a misperception; he could see that meaning in the other person's ruthless eyes.
A brief eye contact, followed by three seconds of silence.
The black man obediently "traded" ownership of the three little devils to Lin Mo.
"Hey bro, is this considered robbery?" the black guy couldn't help but ask in a low voice.
"Yes!" Lin Mo nodded without hesitation.
"..."
After Lin Mo received the three little devils and confirmed there were no problems, he put his arm around the black man and said, "Don't worry, I won't let you suffer any losses. I can tell you what you want to know..."
Lin Mo didn't hide anything about the hero who had appeared out of nowhere and told the other party.
Anyway, this kind of thing can't be kept a secret.
Sooner or later everyone will find out.
At this moment, Lin Mo squatted down and reached out to pat the little devils' heads.
A stream of information flooded my mind:
