Chapter 001 Lord of Chaos
Chapter 001 Lord of Chaos
"Your Excellency, please build defensive towers quickly! The monster army has assembled and will attack in sixty minutes..."
A system notification is ringing in your ears.
"Don't panic, don't panic!"
Li Hanqiang calmly surveyed his surroundings.
As the Lord of Chaos City, Li Hanqiang knew that this should be his Chaos City, but looking around, where was the city?
All that appeared in Li Hanqiang's field of vision was a floating stone ball, grayish-white in color, about one meter in diameter, slowly rotating.
There were no city walls or palaces around, the ground was covered with rough stone slabs, no plants grew, and not a single person could be seen.
Looking further into the distance, the land disappeared, and endless emptiness stretched in all directions, dotted with stars above, below, left, and right, as if this were a small piece of ruins floating in the starry universe.
However, a huge black vortex stood in the distance.
"This is my Chaos City? It's practically a ruin, and monsters are attacking it!" Li Hanqiang shook his head.
Today is the first day of the open beta for the super online game [Endless World], and Li Hanqiang has chosen the [Chaos City Lord] class.
According to official information, each Chaos City Lord will receive a Chaos City at the beginning of the game. The Chaos City is isolated in the Chaos Void and will be attacked by wave after wave of monsters. The Chaos City Lord can build towers for defense, issue city defense missions, and so on, and then develop his own power in the Chaos Void in order to dominate the endless world.
To put it simply, the Chaos City Lord class is a traditional lord class with tower defense elements added. Its primary task is to build various defensive towers and withstand wave after wave of monster attacks.
Only then can one be qualified to talk about recruiting soldiers and horses and vying for supremacy.
The random city defense rewards, endless and unpredictable trigger events, and infinitely many wondrous buildings and items will ensure that each Chaos City will not follow the same development trajectory.
It can be said that all Chaos Cities started from the same point, but no one can predict whether they will eventually develop into a bizarre and fantastical city, a magical city of swords and magic, or a sci-fi city of steel and machinery.
Li Hanqiang was unemployed. After his parents passed away, he inherited several properties and made a living by collecting rent. He had a lot of free time and no purpose in life, so he naturally became an online game enthusiast.
Before the open beta of [Endless World], he had played several virtual reality games, mostly choosing adventurer classes such as warriors and mages.
Unfortunately, although he had a competitive spirit, he was clumsy and couldn't keep up with the game. Years of gaming experience made him realize that he could only be a mediocre player when it came to adventurers, and would never become a top master!
This has nothing to do with spending money or grinding; it's a matter of mindset!
"Riding the wave when things are going well, and going against the wave when things are going badly" perfectly describes someone like Li Hanqiang.
There are also adventurer professions in the Endless World, and they are quite diverse. However, Li Hanqiang had a sudden realization and disdained them. He resolutely chose to become a Chaos City Lord and decided to experience the thrill of strategizing and conquering the world.
He never expected that the original Chaos City would look like this.
"What Chaos City Lord? He's just a lone commander. I'm nothing more than the Lord of Ruins now," Li Hanqiang sighed, but he quickly checked his attribute information.

"The city lord is invincible! What a great skill! No need to worry about being ambushed!" Li Hanqiang exclaimed, then opened his storage space, which contained only a scroll: [Basic Arrow Tower Construction Blueprint].
[Basic Arrow Tower Construction Blueprint: An exclusive item for the Chaos City Lord. Using this blueprint allows you to quickly construct a basic arrow tower (level 1 defense tower) on the Chaos Stone Slab. It has an attack power of 35-40, a range of 200 meters, and fires two piercing crossbow bolts per second. The basic arrow tower has significant upgrade potential (upgrades require upgrading the scroll or unlocking related technologies).]
Clutching the construction blueprint, Li Hanqiang looked around.
Basic arrow towers must be built on Chaos Stone, but what is Chaos Stone?
The game had just started, and everything had to be figured out, so Li Hanqiang immediately set off to look around.
The first thing he noticed was the floating stone sphere in front of him, named the Heart of Chaos.

Clearly, the Heart of Chaos is extremely important.
Li Hanqiang suddenly realized that if it was a monster attack, where was there a city to defend now? It must be protecting this Chaos Heart.
Besides the Heart of Chaos, there are three other striking things in this small ruin.
The first thing is the black vortex standing in the distance, with the words "Time-Space Wormhole" written on top, which is presumably the entrance for the endless monsters to invade Chaos City.
The second is a stone-paved road, floating in the void, about two zhang wide, extending straight from the edge of the spacetime wormhole to the heart of chaos.
This is the War Corridor.
Li Hanqiang estimated that the total length of this war corridor was about one kilometer.
Along the edge of the war corridor are some square platforms with a pale green sheen; these are the [Chaos Slabs].
Li Hanqiang counted that there were only five Chaos Stone Slabs in total, distributed on the same side of the War Corridor, all located near the midpoint of the War Corridor, and only two or three meters apart from each other, almost touching.
"Build a tower! Build a tower!"
Li Hanqiang took action, selecting the Chaos Stone Slab in the very center. He took out the [Arrow Tower Construction Blueprint] and threw it up. A building more than ten meters tall immediately appeared, completely filling the Chaos Stone Slab.
The building's shape is very similar to the octagonal pagoda of ancient China. It has three floors and is quite majestic. It is topped with the four large characters "Basic Arrow Tower". A huge fully automatic crossbow is mounted on the top of the tower. The crossbow is spinning smoothly and is equipped with arrows as long as javelins.
As a defensive tower, this basic arrow tower has unlimited arrows, automatic aiming, and automatic attack, requiring no manual operation whatsoever.
"Ding! Congratulations on successfully building your first defensive tower. You can now issue city defense quests and recruit adventurer players to come and support you."
"System notification: Before each wave of monsters attacks the city, the Chaos City Lord can issue a city defense mission. The city defense mission will appear in the Chaos Temple's mission panel for adventurer players to accept. The Chaos City Lord will receive a system announcement reward for issuing the first city defense mission."
"System notification: Your Chaos City currently has 4 available Chaos Slabs, allowing up to four adventurer players to accept the city defense mission."
"System notification: Adventurers need a teleportation ticket to accept the city defense mission. Each teleportation ticket costs 1 gold coin. After purchasing a ticket, the Chaos City Lord of the corresponding Chaos City will receive 50 silver coins. (ps: 1 gold = 100 silver)"
"System prompt: Please write a quest notice..."
Li Hanqiang rubbed his nose. This city defense mission is interesting. Adventurer players have to buy tickets to come and defend the city!
Isn't this essentially a paid quest? Making adventurers pay to defend the city?
The key point is that for every ticket sold, the Lord of Chaos City can also get 50 silver coins. Isn't this a way to make money?
"Regardless, let's issue the task first!"
