"If we can scare them away, that would be even better!" Lin Shouye was overjoyed and nodded repeatedly. "I'll go tell Ms. Anna right away."
The two returned to the crowd, and Lin Shouye conveyed Li Xiangyang's decision to Anna in English.
Anna's eyes lit up upon hearing this, and a smile bloomed on her face.
"Thank you so much!" she said to Li Xiangyang in slightly accented Chinese. "I promise I won't cause you any trouble."
Just then, several accompanying personnel began unloading equipment from the vehicle they had come from.
Li Xiangyang looked at the equipment and couldn't help but marvel at it.
A large camouflage backpack contained a folding tent, sleeping bag, cooking utensils, and various wilderness survival tools.
What catches the eye most is a black leather suitcase, inside which several cameras and binoculars are neatly stacked.
“These are all state-of-the-art devices,” Anna expertly inspected the cameras, “capable of operating normally in temperatures as low as minus forty degrees Celsius.”
Wang Ergou's eyes lit up as he leaned forward to take a closer look, but he was afraid of breaking the object, so he could only rub his hands together anxiously.
"Ergou, go pack up our equipment too," Li Xiangyang reminded him.
Although the other side was well-equipped, being well-equipped in this mountain forest is not a safe haven.
"Okay!" Wang Ergou replied and ran home in a flash.
Seeing this, Lin Shouye smiled and said to Anna, "Brother Li and Wang Ergou are both top-notch fighters. You can't go wrong following them."
Anna nodded: "I believe you. That black leopard cat was quite special; its ability to establish such a connection with wild animals shows that Mr. Li truly understands this forest."
Li Xiangyang thought to himself, if she knew the true abilities of the Black Cat, she would probably be shocked.
However, he couldn't say that aloud; he simply smiled and said, "I know the mountain roads well, but safety comes first."
Just then, Wang Ergou came running back, panting, bringing all the hunting equipment the two of them usually used.
"When shall we set off?" Anna asked impatiently.
Li Xiangyang glanced at the sky: "We can do it now. How about this? I'll take you to the foot of the mountain first, so you can familiarize yourself with the terrain."
“Okay, no problem.” Anna readily agreed, clearly eager to begin the adventure.
Li Xiangyang turned to Wang Ergou and said, "Go ask Lao Zheng if we can borrow 'Night Shadow'."
“This…” Wang Ergou hesitated for a moment, “Old Zheng’s dog is his lifeline.”
"Tell Master Zheng I borrowed it; he'll probably give me some face. You can't find a Siberian tiger without good hunting dogs."
Wang Ergou thought about it and agreed, so he immediately ran out again.
Li Xiangyang thought to himself, "If I can scare them back, that would be best. But if they insist on going deep into the mountains..."
His thoughts were interrupted by Anna's voice: "Mr. Li, what are you thinking about?"
"It's nothing," Li Xiangyang said, coming back to his senses. "I was just thinking about which route to take in our search for the Siberian tiger."
Lin Shouye chuckled, "Then it's settled. Ms. Anna, we won't keep you any longer on your way into the mountains; we'll leave you here."
After seeing Lin Shouye and his entourage off, Li Xiangyang and Anna waited at the village entrance.
"Shall we head into the mountains now?" Anna asked, somewhat impatiently.
Li Xiangyang shook his head: "Please wait a little longer. My companion has gone to borrow hunting dogs. With the dogs, this trip will be much easier."
“Indeed, in Africa, we also use local hunting dogs to help track lions.”
"Really?" Li Xiangyang replied casually, but in his heart he was thinking about which way to take Anna.
"Yes, you probably haven't seen lions in Africa; they are social animals..."
The two chatted for a while longer before Wang Ergou led Ye Ying back.
"Night Shadow!" Li Xiangyang called out.
As soon as Nightshade saw Li Xiangyang, it wagged its tail affectionately.
"Hey, Xiangyang, you've got some serious connections. As soon as Master Zheng heard it was you borrowing it, he lent it to you without a second thought."
Wang Ergou, panting, said, "They told us to bring more rations, but the weather changed so suddenly."
Just then, a dark figure darted out from beside Li Xiangyang's feet; it was Xiao Hu.
The little guy got so excited when he saw Nightshade that he started spinning around her, jumping and bouncing.
"Little Tiger, stop fooling around," Li Xiangyang said softly, but his tone was full of affection.
Anna's eyes lit up upon seeing this: "This is Nightshade's child? How interesting!"
She immediately squatted down, took out her small notebook, and quickly scribbled something down.
"Yes, it was given to me by Master Zheng," Li Xiangyang explained simply, thinking to himself that this foreign girl was really serious, even recording such a small thing.
“Their interactions are so precious,” Anna said as she wrote, “this pure, natural parent-child bond…”
“Ms. Anna,” Li Xiangyang interrupted her research enthusiasm, pointing to the sky, “we should get going. If the sun rises any higher, the snow will melt and make travel more difficult.”
Anna quickly put away her notebook and slung her fully equipped backpack over her shoulder: "Okay, I'll do whatever you say."
Li Xiangyang looked up at the sky.
The morning sunlight shone through the thin mist onto the snow, giving it a faint golden glow.
The air was cold, but the visibility was good, making it a good time to go into the mountains.
"Remember, in the mountains, you have to listen to me and Er Gou," Li Xiangyang instructed. "We have to stop when we say stop, and we have to leave when we say leave. Safety first."
“Understood.” Anna nodded solemnly, her eyes gleaming with undisguised excitement.
"Then let's go."
After Li Xiangyang finished speaking, he led the way into the mountains.
Wang Ergou led Ye Ying closely behind, while Xiao Hu happily followed his mother, occasionally jumping up and down.
Anna walked at the back, occasionally raising her camera to take pictures of the surrounding scenery.
Thus began the group's journey to find the Siberian tiger.
Li Xiangyang pondered what he should show Anna on this trip so that she would back down.
Just as he was pondering, the black cat appeared out of nowhere and silently followed behind the group.
The group walked through the poplar grove at the village entrance and embarked on a path leading into the deep mountains.
Li Xiangyang knew this road all too well. Every time he went hunting in the mountains, he would ascend from here. The snow on both sides of the road was covered with footprints left by early-rising woodcutters, making the path up the mountain not too difficult to walk.
"How deep is the snow?" Anna asked as they walked.
“It’s about knee-deep,” Li Xiangyang said, pointing to a patch of untouched snow by the roadside. “The snow will be deeper up the mountain.”
Anna nodded, took out a small notebook from her backpack, and began to take notes carefully.
Wang Ergou, watching from the side, couldn't help but laugh: "Ms. Anna, are you going to write down everything that happens in these mountains?"
“Of course,” Anna said seriously, “every detail is important. For example, the depth of the snow directly affects the range of activity of Siberian tigers.”
Upon hearing this, Li Xiangyang couldn't help but glance at Anna again.
This girl seems to know her stuff; now it's clear she's not easily fooled.
