Chapter 345 He really can't stay idle.
For the next few days, Li Xiangyang went out early and returned late every day, traveling back and forth between his home and the Education Bureau.
Over the past few days, he has talked about how to identify animal tracks and tracking techniques; shared the impact of seasonal changes on wilderness survival and coping strategies; and introduced survival skills in different terrain environments.
Each day, more teachers attended the lectures than the previous day. By the fifth day, the meeting room was no longer large enough, and the lectures had to be moved to the county auditorium.
After the final day of training, Wang Jingyun and Director Zhang hosted a small celebration banquet for Li Xiangyang, inviting all the teachers who participated in the training.
"This training was a great success!" Director Zhang raised his glass in a toast. "Thanks to Comrade Li Xiangyang's excellent lecture, our teachers have benefited immensely. I believe this knowledge will be passed on to more students through our teachers, allowing more young people to understand and love nature."
The audience erupted in applause. Li Xiangyang felt a little embarrassed, but also filled with a sense of accomplishment.
After the banquet, Wang Jingyun pulled Li Xiangyang aside for a private talk.
"Xiangyang, Director Zhang admires you very much and would like to invite you to give a lecture at the provincial teachers' training school. However, I know you have some family matters to attend to, so I told him we'll consider it after your wife gives birth."
Li Xiangyang looked at Wang Jingyun gratefully: "Thank you for your understanding, Uncle Wang."
"Of course," Wang Jingyun patted him on the shoulder. "However, I've already secured a good lecture fee and subsidy for you, I hope it will be helpful."
As he spoke, Wang Jingyun took a thick envelope out of his briefcase and handed it to Li Xiangyang.
“This…” Li Xiangyang hesitated.
“Don’t refuse, you deserve it,” Wang Jingyun insisted. “And I have some good news to tell you.”
"What good news?" Li Xiangyang asked curiously.
"Director Zhang suggested that your lecture content be compiled into teaching materials. If you agree, we can plan it out properly when you have time..."
Li Xiangyang looked at Wang Jingyun in surprise, never expecting that his simple lecture would have such a big impact.
"Uncle Wang, this is too important, I'm afraid I won't do it well..."
"Don't worry, I'm here to help you." Wang Jingyun patted his shoulder. "Go back and spend some time with your family first. We'll discuss this in detail after Xiaoyun gives birth."
On the morning of the sixth day, Li Xiangyang packed his luggage and prepared to return to the village.
"Son, be careful on the road, don't rush." Li's mother stuffed the prepared dry food into Li Xiangyang's bag.
"Okay, Mom." Li Xiangyang nodded, then turned to his younger sister, "Xiaohua, study hard. If you don't understand something, you can ask Uncle Wang."
"Yes!" Li Xiaohua nodded emphatically, then suddenly remembered something, "Oh right, brother, I prepared a gift for you to take to your wife."
As she spoke, she took out a carefully crafted little box from the cupboard.
"What is this?" Li Xiangyang asked curiously.
"Millet and brown sugar," Li Xiaohua said shyly, "the money was saved from my allowance."
Li Xiangyang felt a surge of warmth in his heart and ruffled his sister's hair: "Thank you, Xiaohua. Your sister-in-law will definitely love it."
After a quick breakfast, Li Xiangyang slung his bag over his shoulder, carrying his sister's gift and the dry food his mother had prepared, and hopped on his bicycle.
"Mother, Little Flower, I'm leaving!"
"Ride slowly!" Li's mother stood at the door, reluctantly reminding him.
Li Xiangyang waved goodbye and embarked on his journey back to Xiaoliang Village.
The autumn sky is clear and the air is crisp. The mountains rise and fall in layers, and the golden wheat fields ripple in the wind. The climate is refreshing and pleasant.
Li Xiangyang rode his bicycle, enduring a bumpy ride, and finally arrived at Xiaoliang Village before sunset.
After arriving home, Li Xiangyang parked his bicycle, ran a few steps to Li Xiaoyun, and gently pulled her into his arms: "Did you miss me?"
Li Xiaoyun leaned against her husband's chest and nodded gently, "I think about it every day." She looked up at the weariness on Li Xiangyang's face and asked with concern, "You must be exhausted after so many days?"
"It's alright." Li Xiangyang picked up the package and gifts from the ground and followed Li Xiaoyun into the yard. "Teaching the teachers some wilderness survival skills isn't too tiring."
In the yard, Little Tiger heard the noise and happily wagged its tail to come over, circling around Li Xiangyang's feet. Li Xiangyang smiled and patted its head.
Upon entering the house, Li Xiaoyun had already prepared hot water and dinner. The simple meal seemed especially sumptuous because her husband was there.
"Here, this is a gift from Xiaohua to you." Li Xiangyang handed his sister's gift to Li Xiaoyun.
Li Xiaoyun opened the package and found carefully wrapped millet and brown sugar. Touched, she said, "Xiaohua is so thoughtful; she even knew to prepare these for me."
“That girl has a kind heart,” Li Xiangyang said with a smile, then took out a wad of cash from his pocket. “This is my lecture fee for the past few days; it’s much more than I expected.”
Li Xiaoyun took the money and counted it in surprise: "So much? Enough to buy so many things."
"Yes, Uncle Wang said the Education Bureau attaches great importance to this training, and Director Zhang also came to listen to the lectures and was quite satisfied. He even said he would compile my lecture content into teaching materials."
"Really?" Li Xiaoyun looked at her husband with surprise. "Then you'll become a celebrity!"
Li Xiangyang waved his hand, somewhat embarrassed: "It's not that exaggerated, just some hunting experience. How have you been these past few days alone at home?"
Li Xiaoyun nodded: "It's great. The villagers are very kind to me. Captain Zheng even sent someone to deliver eggs and vegetables."
"That's good." Li Xiangyang breathed a sigh of relief.
After dinner, the two sat in the courtyard to enjoy the cool air.
"By the way, has Wang Ergou come to see me these past two days?" Li Xiangyang suddenly asked.
Li Xiaoyun nodded: "I've been here twice. I wanted to invite you to come into the mountains, but you weren't here. So you come over every day with your wife to keep me company and help me chop wood and carry water."
Li Xiangyang nodded: "He really can't sit still. I'll go see him tomorrow."
As night deepened, the two returned to the house.
Li Xiaoyun leaned against her husband's chest, feeling his familiar scent, and soon drifted off to sleep.
The next morning, before the rooster crowed, Li Xiangyang woke up.
He got up quietly, not wanting to wake Li Xiaoyun who was still fast asleep.
After getting dressed, he went out into the yard and took a deep breath of fresh air.
The morning in Xiaoliang Village is peaceful and serene, with wisps of smoke rising from the houses in the distance.
Li Xiangyang strolled over to the chicken coop, scattered a handful of corn kernels, and watched the hens eagerly peck at them, a satisfied smile spreading across his face.
"Xiangyang?" Li Xiaoyun rubbed her sleepy eyes and walked into the yard.
"Did I wake you up?" Li Xiangyang said apologetically.
Li Xiaoyun shook her head: "No, I'm used to waking up early. I'll go make breakfast."
Breakfast consisted of hot millet porridge and cornbread.
After dinner, Li Xiangyang planned to go find Wang Ergou, and Li Xiaoyun stood at the door to see him off.
Are you coming back for lunch?
"Yes, definitely," Li Xiangyang replied with a smile. "I've missed your cooking so much these past few days."
Li Xiaoyun blushed and gently nudged him, saying, "You're so sweet-talking. Hurry up and go, don't keep Wang Ergou waiting."
