Chapter 165 When Makeup Meets Etiquette, Sparks Fly
Chapter 165 When Makeup Meets Etiquette, Sparks Fly
It was a gloomy day; the heavens seemed to be in tears, as a persistent drizzle fell. Liu Yixin was working herself to the bone in the film crew's studio. After finishing the actors' makeup and packing up her tools, she checked the time and realized it was already late. She stretched, yawned widely, and prepared to go home. But as soon as she reached the door, she froze—she had forgotten to check the weather forecast and hadn't brought an umbrella. Looking at the torrential rain outside, Liu Yixin frowned, a thought nagging at her: "What am I going to do? Am I supposed to just rush out and run through the rain, getting completely soaked?"
Just as Liu Yixin was pacing around anxiously like an ant on a hot pan, a familiar figure appeared before her. It was Teacher Fu, the etiquette instructor for the actors on set. Teacher Fu always had a gentle and refined demeanor, exuding a classical charm in every gesture. He was holding an umbrella, and seeing Liu Yixin standing awkwardly at the door, he smiled and walked over.
"Teacher Liu, you didn't bring an umbrella?" Teacher Fu asked softly.
Liu Yixin nodded somewhat embarrassedly and said, "Yes, my brain is so bad, I forgot about it as soon as I left the house."
Teacher Fu smiled and said, "Then I'll give you a ride. It's raining so hard, you'll definitely catch a cold if you get soaked on your way back."
Liu Yixin's eyes lit up, and she quickly said, "Really? Thank you so much, Teacher Fu! You're truly my savior!"
So, Teacher Fu, holding an umbrella, walked into the rain with Liu Yixin. The two walked side-by-side, the raindrops pattering against the umbrella, creating a unique symphony. Along the way, they chatted and laughed, reminiscing about various amusing incidents on set. Liu Yixin talked about some funny things that happened while doing makeup for the actors, while Teacher Fu shared some hilarious and sometimes absurd scenes from teaching actors etiquette.
"You know what, Teacher Fu? Last time I did makeup for an actor, he insisted that I give him a really exaggerated look, saying that would highlight his personality. But after I finished, he was shocked by his own reflection in the mirror, haha!" Liu Yixin said, laughing so hard she almost fell over.
Teacher Fu laughed along and said, "I've encountered similar situations before. Once, I was teaching an actor how to do an ancient kneeling ceremony, but he just couldn't learn it. He always knelt crookedly, like he was doing some kind of strange dance."
The two laughed and chatted all the way, and before they knew it, they had arrived at Liu Yixin's doorstep. Liu Yixin said gratefully, "Teacher Fu, thank you so much today. I don't know how I would have gotten back without you."
Teacher Fu waved her hand and said, "It was nothing, no need to be so polite. Okay, you should go inside now, don't catch a cold."
Liu Yixin nodded, turned, and walked into the house. As soon as she entered, she saw Li Yuan and Liu Xuan sitting on the sofa watching TV. Li Yuan saw Liu Yixin return and quickly went to greet her.
"Daughter, you're finally back. It's raining so hard outside, how did you get back?" Li Yuan asked with concern.
As Liu Yixin changed her shoes, she said, "It was Teacher Fu from the film crew who brought me back."
"Teacher Fu? Which Teacher Fu?" Liu Xuan also came over and asked curiously.
"It's Teacher Fu, the one who teaches the actors etiquette. When I was doing Guli's makeup, I saw him teaching her the Wanfu (a traditional Chinese greeting) etiquette. He was so professional," Liu Yixin explained.
Li Yuan and Liu Xuan both nodded in agreement. Li Yuan smiled and said, "It seems that this Teacher Fu is quite kind-hearted."
Liu Yixin smiled and said nothing more. She returned to her room, changed into clean clothes, and lay on her bed. Recalling the scene with Teacher Fu in the rain, a ripple of emotion stirred within her.
From then on, Liu Yixin and Teacher Fu interacted more and more on set. Once, the crew was filming an ancient scene, which required the actors to wear ancient makeup. Although Liu Yixin was an experienced makeup artist, she wasn't very familiar with ancient makeup. Just as she was worrying about this, Teacher Fu came over.
"Teacher Liu, are you worried about ancient makeup?" Teacher Fu saw through Liu Yixin's thoughts at a glance.
Liu Yixin nodded and said helplessly, "Yes, I'm not very familiar with ancient makeup, I really don't know what to do."
Teacher Fu smiled and said, "What's so difficult about that? I know quite a bit about ancient makeup, I can teach you."
Liu Yixin's eyes lit up, and she said with delight, "Really? That's wonderful! Teacher Fu, you're truly my savior!"
So, Teacher Fu began teaching Liu Yixin ancient makeup techniques. He explained in detail the characteristics of makeup from different dynasties and how to use various makeup tools. Liu Yixin listened with great interest, taking careful notes as she went. Under Teacher Fu's guidance, Liu Yixin quickly mastered the techniques of ancient makeup and successfully created ancient makeup looks for the actors that matched their characters.
To thank Teacher Fu for his help, Liu Yixin decided to teach him some modern makeup techniques. Although Teacher Fu was very knowledgeable about ancient etiquette, he knew nothing about modern makeup. Liu Yixin taught him how to choose a foundation that suited his skin tone, how to create natural yet captivating eye makeup, and how to create fashionable lip makeup. Teacher Fu studied very diligently, but in practice, he kept encountering numerous problems.
"Teacher Liu, how do you think my eyeliner looks?" Teacher Fu held the eyeliner pencil and carefully drew on her eyes.
Liu Yixin glanced at it and couldn't help but laugh out loud. "Teacher Fu, your eyeliner looks like a caterpillar, all crooked and messy. Come on, let me demonstrate it for you again."
Teacher Fu smiled somewhat embarrassedly and said, "It seems that modern makeup is really not easy."
Under Liu Yixin's patient guidance, Mr. Fu's makeup skills gradually improved. He began to try applying simple makeup to himself, and although he still made some minor mistakes at times, he enjoyed the process.
As time went on, Liu Yixin and Teacher Fu's relationship grew increasingly close. They not only learned from and helped each other at work, but also became inseparable friends in life. They ate together, watched movies together, and discussed all sorts of interesting topics. Seeing them often together, their colleagues on set jokingly called them a "golden duo."
Once, the film crew organized a team-building activity. One of the activities included a makeup competition. Liu Yixin and Teacher Fu decided to team up. They leveraged their respective strengths: Liu Yixin handled modern makeup, while Teacher Fu was responsible for the styling of ancient etiquette. During the competition, they worked together seamlessly, creating a makeup look that was both fashionable and full of classical charm, winning applause and cheers from the audience. Ultimately, they won the competition with their outstanding performance.
"Teacher Fu, we won!" Liu Yixin jumped up excitedly and grabbed Teacher Fu's hand.
Teacher Fu smiled broadly and said, "Yes, this is the result of our joint efforts."
Since then, Liu Yixin and Teacher Fu's reputation has grown significantly within the film crew. They became known as the "makeup and etiquette duo," attracting many actors who sought their guidance. Liu Yixin and Teacher Fu were always happy to help, using their professional knowledge and enthusiasm to make a significant contribution to the filming process.
As the days passed, Liu Yixin and Teacher Fu gradually discovered more of each other's strengths through mutual learning and growth. Their relationship also subtly evolved from friendship to love.
