Chapter 484 - 457: Magic Cooperation
Chapter 484 - 457: Magic Cooperation
Specialized palace staff had already arranged the detailed wedding proceedings; Ronin just needed to follow the procedure.
Although the Oduin Kingdom didn’t have any organizations like a church, the ceremony still included a ritual to be witnessed by the Seven Gods. It wasn’t complicated, though. The officiant solemnly read his lines, His Majesty the King offered his blessings, and then it was over.
Afterward came the lively banquet.
Ronin held Blanche’s hand, accepting blessings from the many guests. After two or three hours of festivities, the events at Golden Feather Palace finally came to a close.
"Alright, Ronin, it’s time for you to take Blanche home."
Bruno raised his wine glass, offering one last blessing. "I wish you happiness!"
The other nobles also raised their glasses, echoing similar sentiments.
"Thank you for all your blessings!"
Ronin and Blanche drained their glasses and handed them to a nearby attendant.
"Let’s go, Blanche."
Smiling, Ronin scooped his bride up into his arms. Blanche’s cheeks flushed red, and she buried her face in his chest.
Ronin laughed heartily, then leaped onto the back of the Giant Dragon.
Carlos let out a joyous cry, then slowly unfurled his wings. Under the awed and envious gazes of the crowd, he soared into the sky, returning to Wushan Castle at incredible speed.
Bruno watched his daughter depart, a flash of gratification in his eyes.
At the start of the marriage alliance, he hadn’t cared what kind of life his daughter would have with Ronin; he had only cared about what he could gain. But now, he could see that Ronin and Blanche had real feelings for each other, and that was a good thing.
"Your sister should be very happy."
Bruno smiled at Garrett, who was beside him, and said, "I can feel it. Ronin is an upright, kind, and trustworthy young man. To Oduin and the Wushan Clan, cheers!"
He raised his glass and clinked it against Garrett’s.
"Cheers!"
Garrett’s smile was a bit forced. He only took a symbolic sip.
At this banquet, he had heard far too much praise for Ronin. He could even faintly overhear people comparing him to Ronin, which made him extremely uncomfortable.
Now Ronin was gone, yet his father was still praising the man, which stirred some resentment in his heart.
He could tell his father was extremely satisfied with this marriage alliance. Others had also repeatedly mentioned that the union with the Wushan Clan was the most correct political decision Bruno had made in years.
High in the sky, Ronin and Blanche held each other as they soon arrived over the vast Screaming Sea.
"Ronin, I’ve been dreaming about our wedding recently. Now that the day is finally here, it feels a little unreal."
Blanche nestled in her beloved’s arms, her own arms wrapped around his waist. It felt as if she were holding the entire world.
"What part feels unreal?"
Ronin stroked her long hair, his voice filled with both joy and adoration.
"Maybe it’s because everything happened so fast. I never expected my husband to be the strongest person in Oduin, much less that he would come for me riding a Giant Dragon."
Blanche looked up at Ronin, her eyes shimmering with a gentle light. "This is all like a fairy tale from a book."
Ronin gently kissed Blanche’s forehead and smiled. "Life itself is a story. If you paint it with heart, it will naturally be as beautiful as a fairy tale."
"Mhm!" Blanche nodded emphatically.
Carlos soared through the azure sky. The salty, damp sea breeze rushed past them, but it couldn’t diminish the warmth between the two in the slightest.
In less than an hour, they crossed a distance that an ordinary person might never traverse in a lifetime.
When the Giant Dragon landed once more in the square of Wushan Castle, the musicians and drummers of the Marquis’ Castle began to play joyous music, and the nobles gathered in Wushan Castle all came out to greet them.
Ronin stood up, holding Blanche’s hand. He straightened her clothes and smoothed her hair, then the two of them leaped down to begin the second grand banquet.
Unlike the wedding feast at Golden Feather Palace, most of the guests at Wushan Castle were nobles and Knights of all ranks from Wushan Territory. Among them were Ronin’s subordinates—Ridder, Elron, and Macken—who had taken time out of their busy schedules to attend.
Of course, there were outsiders as well, such as the Great Mage Bellora Silva from Amethyst County.
Ronin had thought Bellora would send his grandson, Randall, in his place. He hadn’t expected the Great Mage not only to come personally but to come to Wushan Castle instead of the Royal Palace.
"How does it feel?"
Bellora asked, looking at the newlyweds with a gentle smile.
In truth, he was reluctant to attend weddings. Such occasions always made him reminisce about his own life.
He too had been young, had a lover, and had children.
But as time went on, he had witnessed the passing of his lover and his children. Now, even his grandson was growing old.
’Sometimes, a long life has its own sorrows.’
To dispel these sorrows, his only recourse was to pour all his attention into magic research.
Ronin shrugged. "To be honest, Blanche and I aren’t really used to this kind of event."
"Haha, getting married is always a bit tiring."
As Bellora spoke, he pulled a glittering pendant from his pocket. "This is a little trinket I made myself. A gift for you, beautiful lady."
"Thank you!"
Blanche accepted it with a smile. "This looks like a Magic Pendant. You’re so thoughtful, Mr. Bellora!"
"It’s inscribed with the ’Wall of Sighs’ Magic."
Bellora explained, "However, with Ronin around, you’ll probably never have to use this in your entire life. Isn’t that right, you young, peerless expert?"
The two of them exchanged a look and burst into laughter.
Since the wedding began, many people had given gifts to Ronin and Blanche, including jewelry, formal attire, warhorses, and more.
The most valuable among them were from Sophia and Elron.
The former had gifted a small Space Ring along with a newly made Magic Flying Carpet, while the latter had brought a Necromancy Book dug up from Gistana Castle.
The Necromancy Book happened to be a good match for Blanche’s Attribute. With her current strength as a Senior Mage, she could just barely manage to summon the Silver Level Skeleton War General from within it. Ronin felt he wouldn’t even need to assign security personnel to protect Blanche anymore.
"Mr. Bellora, there’s actually something I’ve been wanting to discuss with you, but I haven’t had the time to visit your castle."
"Oh?"
Bellora was a little curious. "I’d be interested to hear it."
"You may already know that Sophia, from the Crescent Continent, has joined Wubei Territory. However, you might not know that she comes from a true Magic Family and possesses a reserve of magic knowledge that far surpasses that of the Orland Continent."
The Fleming Clan also called itself a Magic Family, but its strongest member was only a Great Mage.
But the Siers Clan, which Sophia belonged to, was currently led by a Sage Level Mage. This alone showed how profound their foundation was.
Ronin said, "Our magic knowledge here has gaps in it. She wants to spread her knowledge throughout Orland so that more people can devote themselves to the study of magic."
Bellora’s eyes grew brighter. He had lived a long time and knew a great deal; the continent indeed had the gaps Ronin spoke of.
"So you want to..."
"I’m preparing to designate an area in Wubei Territory to establish a Magic Academy, to disseminate Sophia’s magic knowledge."
He looked at the Great Mage before him. "At the same time, I would like to invite you to serve as the Magic Academy’s honorary dean. I also hope you can provide me with some Mage resources. I will pay them a high salary to come and work as instructors."
"No problem!"
Bellora agreed with almost no hesitation.
"But I have one condition. Please allow me to study the magic knowledge that Sophia has brought."
"But of course."
Ronin smiled and suddenly lowered his voice. "Actually, there is a special place in Wubei Territory. It has a mysterious Teleportation Array. If you’re interested, perhaps we could study it together."
"Spatial Magic?" Bellora was stunned.
All these years, he had only ever heard of Spatial Magic, never seen it with his own eyes.
After all, generally speaking, only Legendary Level Mages had the ability to delve into Spatial Magic.
However, that didn’t mean one couldn’t research and master the related knowledge in advance.
Now, Bellora was even more interested in Wubei Territory.
Magic research was time-consuming and mentally draining. Although Ronin could also do the research, one person’s progress would be slow.
That was why he had thought of Bellora.
Moreover, Amethyst County was famous throughout the Orland Continent as a holy land for Mages. Being able to cooperate with them would be a great help to the development of Wubei Territory.
After all, he no longer had to worry about materials for Magic Potions; what he lacked were Mages.
Once that gap was filled, the production of Support Enhancement Potions would soar.
As for Bellora, he might have known that helping Ronin would weaken the position of Crystal City, but he didn’t particularly care. Besides, he knew he couldn’t stop it anyway.
Ronin himself was a Great Mage, on the same level as him, and he also had Sophia by his side, whose reserves of magic knowledge were far more advanced.
Rather than undertaking a thankless task, it was far better to cooperate with Ronin.
