Chapter 107 The Unsent Letter

Chapter 107 The Unsent Letter

After equipping the Whipper Susas Ornament, Su Rui's attributes were boosted again. At this point, Su Rui's health had reached 1,600, which was almost the same as that of a heavy armor warrior wearing a mix of blue and green armor.

However, Su Rui's only advantage is his high health. His armor is cloth armor, so his defensive attributes are far inferior to those of heavy armor warriors. Even with the 20% damage reduction from the Susaas Ornament, it's still not enough.

Besides his astonishing health, Su Rui's spell damage had now exceeded 300, which meant that the theoretical damage of his Shadow Bolt was 650. Even after deducting the magic resistance reduction, he could still deal nearly 600 actual damage.

Such terrifying damage output is something even fire mages, known for their turrets, can hardly match! Having acquired two pieces of rainbow-colored growth equipment at just level twelve, Su Rui's attributes truly far surpass those of other players.

"Alright, stop showing off. Let's see what the last item dropped is," Feng Lixi laughed from the side.

"Okay!" Su Rui nodded, then turned off the equipment's glowing effects.

With the special effects turned off, Su Rui's equipment once again appeared simple and unadorned. After all, his two pieces of rainbow-colored equipment were a pendant and a ring, both of which were quite small and not conspicuous after the special effects were turned off, unlike weapons, which, even with the special effects off, still attracted attention due to their exaggerated designs.

In virtual games like "Source," once you turn off the name display above your head, the experience is no different from being in real life. From the player's perspective, apart from the NPCs who are staring at their names, other players are just like people in real life, except they are all wearing strange clothes.

Without special reconnaissance skills, even face-to-face, you can't tell what equipment the other person is wearing unless they deliberately show it to you.

So even though Boss Su had top-tier gear, he looked quite ordinary and unremarkable after turning off the special effects. As a veteran professional gamer, Su Rui may not be well-known, but he knew the importance of keeping a low profile and making a fortune quietly. He wouldn't flaunt his gear's effects and tempt others to rob him.

Although Boss Su was very confident in his abilities, there's no such thing as a thief who can guard against thieves for a thousand days. If he were really being targeted, that would be troublesome.

After turning off the special effects, Su Rui took out the last item dropped by Sansa from his backpack.

Unsent Letter (Quest Item, Purple Epic Quality)

Note: Sansas was aware of his impending doom, and he wrote this letter, but he never had the chance to send it.

"A letter?" Su Rui was stunned. This was the first time he had ever seen an epic-level quest item, and it was a letter!

“Open it and take a look!” Feng Lixi said from the side.

"Hmm!" Su Rui nodded, then opened the letter, only to find it was full of gibberish.

"I can't see the content..." Su Rui frowned.

“Didn’t you get your hands on the codebook before?” Feng Lixi prompted.

“That’s right!” Su Rui activated the Moraka Brotherhood codebook that he had been keeping in his backpack.

After a moment, the contents of the letter, which were originally full of gibberish, gradually became clear, and lines of text appeared.

My dearest Darma, by the time you read this letter, I will have been exposed. That damned Zhalen was a fool. He introduced two spies from Xuanwu City. I trusted him so much, but his stupidity led to my death!

I will try my best to escape and meet up with you, but if you haven't received my message in three days, please move with the test subjects immediately! There are too many letters between us in my desk, and Lani Valley will definitely be exposed. You'd better move with the test subjects to Stormwind Mountains immediately. I have already built a new secret base there and left a large amount of experimental materials!

Because the letter was just completed, it was unsigned and had no destination. Of course, if Sansas had had time to finish it, it would have been sent out, and Su Rui would have had no chance to receive it.

"What's the use of this thing? It didn't trigger any missions..." Su Rui frowned.

"I guess there are still some conditions that haven't been triggered," Feng Lixi said from the side.

"Why don't we send the letter over?" Su Rui suddenly said.

"Send it out? Send it to where?" Feng Lixi asked deliberately, wanting to stump Su Rui so that he wouldn't be in a hurry to go there.

“Didn’t the letter mention the Lani Valley? Let’s go there and take a look; maybe we can find it,” Su Rui said.

“But where is Lani Valley? It’s not shown on the map…” Feng Lixi obviously didn’t want Su Rui to go to Lani Valley so early, so she opened the map for Su Rui to see, and there was no such place as Lani Valley on the map at all.

"I'll go ask that old man. He's been in the Mercenary Guild for so many years, he should have heard of him, right?" Su Rui said, still unwilling to give up.

"Alright then!" Feng Lixi nodded. She couldn't directly stop Su Rui, so she simply let him try and get his hands on a brick wall.

Su Rui then walked over to the old man and gently tapped the table.

"Senior, may I ask you something?" Su Rui said politely.

"Hmm?!" The old man looked up impatiently, but a smile immediately appeared on his face when he saw that it was Su Rui.

"Little guy, it's you. What brings you here again? Has your mercenary group accumulated enough reputation points?" the old man asked with a smile.

"Not yet, I have something I'd like to ask you about," Su Rui said with a smile.

"Oh? Then tell me, I'm not bragging, but after all these years in the Mercenary Guild, there's really nothing I don't know," the old man said with a smug look.

"Do you know about Lani Valley?" Su Rui asked.

"What?! Why are you asking about that place?!" The old man stood up abruptly. He looked around and, seeing that some people were looking their way, immediately lowered his voice and said to Su Rui, "Lani Valley is a place where the undead dwell. You'd better stay away from it!"

“Sir, I have a mission to go over there. If you know the location, please tell me.” Su Rui said.

“If you really want to go, you’d better work hard on your cultivation first. Your current level is too low. I can’t let you go to such a dangerous place.” The old man shook his head.

"When can I go there?" Su Rui asked.

"At least level 20!" the old man said.

“Alright!” Su Rui nodded, then bid farewell to the old man and returned to Feng Lixi.

"So? You can't go, right?" Feng Lixi asked with a smile.

"Yes, he said he would tell me the location once I reach level 20." Su Rui nodded.
