Chapter 31: Fierce Battle in the Mine (1)

Fierce Battle in the Mine (I)

As soon as Carl and the teachers entered the abandoned magic mine, a pungent, decaying smell hit them. It was the scent of dark magic corroding the air, as if the breath of death permeated the air. On the surrounding walls, dark magic runes flickered with an eerie light, as if countless pairs of eyes were watching them.

"Everyone be careful! This dark aura is too strong, there must be big trouble." The dean's expression was solemn, and his voice echoed in the mine with an unquestionable warning.

Before he could finish his words, a swarm of dark shadows surged from the depths of the mine like a tide. They were puppets controlled by dark magic, their bodies made of various metals and stones. Their joints gleamed with a dark red glow of magic, and their hollow eye sockets burned with eerie black flames. They moved swiftly, their feet clattering heavily on the ground, each step carrying a powerful impact as they pounced upon Carl and the teachers.

"Prepare for battle! These puppets are tough!" a teacher shouted. With a wave of his wand, a blue curtain of light instantly unfolded, blocking everyone. The other teachers also cast defensive spells. Multicolored lights intertwined within the mine, forming a dazzling yet tense defensive line.

Carl's gaze narrowed, knowing full well the power of these puppets. In this critical moment, he pulled out a newly acquired mysterious magic item. It was a crystal ball emitting a mysterious aura. Stars seemed to circulate within it, and each flicker held a powerful magical force. Carl poured his magic power into the crystal ball and felt an unprecedented power surge within him.

"Watch me!" Carl shouted, waving his wand and chanting an ancient and mysterious spell. As the spell was chanted, the crystal ball shone brightly, and a dazzling white beam shot out from the tip of the wand, like an extremely sharp lightsaber, slashing towards the puppet charging ahead.

"Boom!" The beams collided with the golems, emitting a deafening roar. Those at the forefront were instantly shattered by the powerful attack, sending metal and stone flying everywhere, puncturing the walls with massive craters. The sound of the golems' bodies shattering echoed through the mine like the melody of death.

"Well done, Carl!" Teacher A praised. "But we can't let our guard down. There are still many puppets to come."

"That's right, everyone, maintain your formation and pay attention to your magic power consumption." The dean gave loud orders while casting magic.

The teachers continued to strengthen their defenses while simultaneously casting offensive spells. Teacher B waved his wand, muttering something. Bolts of lightning shot out from the tip, weaving through the swarm of puppets like silver snakes, striking several and sending plumes of black smoke billowing from them. Teacher C then cast a fire spell, sending a raging fire blazing through the swarm of puppets. The puppets struggled in the flames, making a crackling sound.

The puppets seemed to have no sense of fear or pain. They rushed forward, wave after wave, towards Carl and the teachers' defense line.

"There are too many of them. We can't fight head-on. We have to fight and retreat at the same time!" the dean commanded loudly.

Carl and the teachers began a battle-and-retreat retreat. They cast spells against the puppets as they slowly moved deeper into the mine. The battle was intense, the magic light intertwining and colliding with the dark magic within the puppets, illuminating the dark mine.

Carl waved his wand constantly, each swing accompanied by a magical attack. Sometimes he cast fire magic, enveloping the puppets in blazing flames; sometimes he cast freezing magic, slowing their movements. But the number of puppets was too great, and his magic power was constantly depleting.

"Carl, how are you?" Teacher A asked, looking at Carl with concern during the break in the fight.

"I can still hold on. These puppets seem to have no end." Carl replied through gritted teeth, his forehead covered with sweat, but his eyes remained firm.

The teachers also pulled out all the stops. Some cast group attack spells, repelling large swarms of puppets at once; others focused on replenishing defensive spells to prevent the puppets from breaching their defenses. However, the puppets' attacks grew increasingly fierce, and their methods became more diverse. Some spewed black venom from their mouths, which fell onto the ground, corroding it into vast, smoking pits; others wielded massive weapons, each strike carrying such powerful force that the ground trembled slightly.

During the fierce battle, a teacher accidentally got his arm scratched by a puppet's weapon. "Ah!" he cried out in pain, but he didn't put down his wand and continued to fight.

"Teacher, you are injured!" Karl shouted anxiously.

"Don't worry about me, fight off these puppets first." said the injured teacher, with a determined look on his face, he endured the pain and continued to cast magic.

As the battle continued, they gradually moved deeper into the mines. The environment became increasingly complex, with the ground covered in traps and obstacles. In some places, there were huge cracks, from which black smoke continuously emerged; in others, there were piles of discarded magical ores, which had become extremely unstable under the influence of dark magic and could explode at any time.

"Pay attention to your feet and your surroundings!" the dean reminded everyone, his eyes quickly scanning the complex terrain, looking for a safe path.

While fighting, Carl also kept an eye on his surroundings. He noticed some strange symbols on the walls of the mine, which seemed to guide the flow of dark magic. He had an idea that perhaps destroying these symbols would weaken the puppet's power.

"Teacher, look at the symbols on the wall. They may be related to the power of the puppet. Let's try to destroy them." Carl shouted.

Upon hearing Carl's words, the teachers attacked the symbols on the wall. As the magic struck the symbols, they flickered a few times before cracks began to appear. As the symbols shattered, the puppets' movements became noticeably slower, and the dark magic within them began to fluctuate.

"It works! Keep attacking the symbol!" said the dean, increasing the intensity of his attack on the symbol.

With everyone's efforts, the symbols on the wall were gradually destroyed. The puppets' power grew weaker, and their attacks were no longer as fierce as before. But at this moment, a low roar came from deep within the mine. The sound was like a roar from hell, and it made people's hearts tighten.

"What's that sound? Is there a more powerful enemy?" Carl asked with a frown.

"No matter what, we can't back down. We must rescue the students and uncover this conspiracy." The dean said firmly, his eyes revealing fearless courage.

As the roar grew closer, an even stronger dark force swept in from the depths of the mine. The already weakened puppets seemed to be infused with new strength, rushing frantically towards Carl and the teachers once again. And in the darkness, a massive figure loomed, as if the master of this darkness was about to descend.

"Get ready for new challenges!" Carl shouted, gripping his wand tightly as he and the teachers prepared for the upcoming, more intense battle.
