Chapter 1095 - 447: Cup of Intoxication
Chapter 1095 - 447: Cup of Intoxication
"Is this what you were looking for?"Lucilia dusted off her clothes and climbed onto Alka’s shoulder to ask. Alka looked at the gray cup in his hand and nodded.
"The cup beloved by the great Saralan Emperor has fallen to such a state," Lucilia remarked, unable to help herself, as she looked at the dust and grime covering the cup.
Alka handed the cup to Lucilia and then observed the surrounding scene.
The remains in front of them were of indeterminate age, with most of the clothing and belongings long reduced to ashes over time.
However, beside them was a pile of thoroughly rusted excavating tools.
There was a tool bag placed at the break in the wall, though the tools inside were long damaged and destroyed.
Chadite, after walking around for a bit, also approached, followed closely by Simon. There really wasn’t much to see around here, just an ordinary tomb.
"Is this a tomb raider?" Chadite asked, looking at the remains.
Based on the surrounding scene, it was too obvious.
Alka nodded.
"Who knows how many years ago, perhaps when the Saralan Empire had not yet fallen, this tomb raider came here."
"Used tools to chisel through the tomb’s stone walls, entered this chamber, then used tools to open this stone coffin.
It likely triggered the coffin’s protective mechanism, leading to death, possibly from gas or something similar."
Since the remains outside this tomb raider had no visible injuries.
Alka crouched slightly and looked inside through the breach in the stone coffin, seeing a flash of white light.
This suggested that the white glow seen on the map was in these stone coffins as burial goods.
Only some less valuable items would be left outside.
The hourglass Alka obtained earlier was relatively well-preserved.
While the burial goods around these older chambers were long destroyed.
They would have been things loved by the deceased in life, and given this was a medium-sized family, valued artifacts.
"But why would this cup be on the tomb raider’s body?" Chadite asked, puzzled.
Assuming this cup was the Cup of Intoxication beloved by the Saralan Emperor, as Alka said.
It didn’t seem likely to end up with this tomb raider.
They didn’t yet realize the Cup of Intoxication was actually a Holy Grail level treasure.
"That is unknown; let it sink into the river of history," Alka said with a smile.
What coincidences and processes must have occurred for such a treasure to end up with a tomb raider.
"And these stone coffins..." Simon pointed to the still-intact coffins.
Alka shook his head: "Forget it, this wasn’t a very wealthy family, and the burial goods might not even be very valuable.
Those protective mechanisms might not be completely gone; let’s leave them. We’ve taken what we need."
Hearing this, the group nodded without further comment.
If these were just ordinary burial goods, they were indeed of no value to them.
They returned to the hole they recently exited, climbing out of the pit they had dug. After emergence, they filled the hole with dirt, sealing it shut.
Outside, Alka held the cup in his hand, and a watery blue Water Card appeared beside him, causing a stream to encircle the cup.
Alka released the cup, and the stream formed a spiral-like cleaner, spiraling around the cup to wash it.
Chadite watched this spectacle and couldn’t help but say, "This should be considered an ancient relic, right? Even though it’s a magic item, it’s been so long. If you clean it so roughly, it might get damaged.
It won’t be easy to sell it for enough value then."
As the evaluator and seller of most treasures on the ship, she had to give this reminder.
Upon hearing this, Alka turned to her and said with a smile, "Don’t worry, nothing will happen. This isn’t just some ordinary magic item... it’s a treasure."
"Hm?!?!"
The surrounding few turned their heads, eyes wide as they stared at him, as he hadn’t mentioned this.
"Treasure?"
"That’s right, a treasure, a Holy Grail level treasure."
Upon hearing this, Simon furrowed her brows and immediately thought of a big flaw: "Then it shouldn’t be, if it’s a treasure.
The Saralan Emperor would not have allowed such a treasure to be lost, right? The connection between a possessed treasure and its owner is so deep, it shouldn’t be taken without the Saralan Emperor noticing.
Let alone end up with a tomb raider, carried into another tomb; it’s too strange."
Simon first pointed out the problem.
Hearing this, Alka could only shrug helplessly and said, "Why, I don’t know. I only know this thing is indeed a treasure."
As he spoke, the filthy water fell into the soil beneath his feet. The Cup of Intoxication, now completely cleaned, was held in Alka’s hand and presented to the others.
The cup looked just as described.
A gemstone roughly the size of a thumb was embedded below, and the upper section carved with a scene of a chubby figure hosting a banquet and drinking, surrounded by extravagant dancers and revelers.
