Chapter 274: Difficulty in Housekeeping
Chapter 274: Difficulty in Housekeeping
"I've never participated in it before. I always heard that it was very hard and tiring, but after experiencing it today, I didn't feel that way." Mo Beibei looked at Cang Yan. She felt that this morning was acceptable.
Shang Qing, who was pretending to sleep with his eyes closed, smiled slightly. He could only kindly remind this little cutie, saying, "Beibei, we only stood outside for more than half an hour this morning. See if it's as relaxing as you say it is now in the afternoon. Be good and take a break. We have a tough battle to fight this afternoon."
Except for Mo Beibei, everyone else nodded bitterly. They needed to make good use of this relaxing lunch break to get some sleep so they could make it through the afternoon.
Mo Beibei blinked her round eyes and glanced around, noticing that everyone was resting quietly. She immediately lay down. Since everyone said the training was tough, she wasn't stupid, so she listened to their advice and ate a full meal. In her more than ten years of experience, she had never suffered a loss.
Sure enough, training officially began that afternoon. Because Shang Qing was physically fit and had received professional guidance from Yingjia, training wasn't difficult for her. But that didn't apply to the other students. Especially Mo Beibei. She was chubby and had never participated in training before.
The appetizer for training must be standing at attention.
The instructor gave clear, serious instructions: "The key points of the military posture can be summarized as 'three straightenings, three retractions, one opening, and one lifting.' The 'three straightenings' refer to straightening the neck, chest, and legs; the 'three retractions' refer to retraction of the chin, abdomen, and hips; the 'one opening' means keeping your eyes wide open and looking straight ahead; and the 'one lifting' means lifting your head upward." Stand at attention, look up, shift your center of gravity forward, and keep your hands close to your trouser seams. Do you understand?"
"I understand." The voice replied loudly.
"Stand at attention for half an hour. Move, add one minute! Start!"
Half an hour of standing at attention under the scorching sun was brutal. Since we were all university students, we were well-versed in the training process, and since it wasn't our first time, no one dared to object. We could only grit our teeth and persevere.
Some of the weaker students were already shaky and could only take a break in the shade.
Seeing that she could go off and rest whenever she felt uncomfortable, and looking at the figures of her classmates sitting leisurely under the shade of the trees, Mo Beibei's eyes lit up, and she felt a mixture of envy and longing. Could she do the same?
But when she turned her head to look at Shang Qing, she denied it. Shang Qing was wearing a perfectly ordinary training uniform, yet it looked surprisingly handsome and beautiful on her. She held her head high, chest puffed out, her posture straight, her gaze fixed, and remained perfectly still. Aside from the sweltering blush on her fair cheeks, she didn't look like she was undergoing scorching summer training.
Mo Beibei gritted her teeth. If a delicate and slender girl like Shang Qing could do it, how could she, with her obviously stronger body, give up? She had to persevere! She was sure she could do it!
Beads of sweat slid down Mo Beibei's chubby cheeks, but her eyes were filled with a firm belief. She couldn't be a defeated general! What others could do, she, Mo Beibei, could do too!
How could the half-hour of standing at attention be compared to ordinary time? It was as if the pause button had been pressed, and every second seemed unbearable, with no way of ending.
As time went on, students in various formations began to lose their hold and quite a few of them began to sway.
Watching these students grit their teeth and persevere with determination, watching the large beads of sweat on their foreheads slide down their cheeks and drip onto the ground, forming sparkling flowers, Chief Instructor Gong Lin's eyes flashed with satisfaction. This class is of high quality.
"At ease!" The instructors' shout was like the sound of nature.
Mo Beibei felt her whole body stiffen, and she was in so much pain that she wanted to grimace, but her dry throat uttered a sound first: "Ouch, I can finally sit for a while."
As her butt touched the ground, Mo Beibei felt a little more alive. She stopped being rude and stopped saying stupid things like military training wasn't tiring or hard!
"Who told you to sit down? Stand up!" Instructor Yu's roar made everyone stand up. But the pain on the students' faces was real, and they kept complaining.
Instructor Yu had a serious expression and seemed expressionless, but what he was thinking in his heart was, it has just begun, this is it, we have not even started yet.
So, throughout the afternoon, we started with countless repetitions of the most basic standing at attention, at ease, and turning while standing still, which really marked the beginning of the training.
Ji Xun had been silently paying attention to Shang Qing's team. When Shang Qing was resting, her cheeks were flushed and her bright smile was full of vitality. The smile on his lips became more and more obvious.
"Hey, Ji Xun, what are you looking at? You look so happy?" Wu Peng, a new classmate sitting next to him, was a little curious. He followed his gaze but didn't see anything special. Just a group of girls chatting.
It's no wonder he didn't notice anything. When he looked over, Shang Qing was already smiling happily with her head down, so naturally he didn't see her beautiful face. Besides, the girls were afraid of getting sunburned, so they wore hats tightly, so he couldn't see what they looked like at all.
Seeing that Shang Qing had turned her back to him and was chatting with her classmates, Ji Xun stopped looking and resumed his usual aloof and cold demeanor. He looked at the curious Wu Peng and replied politely in a low voice, "Nothing."
If Wu Peng hadn't seen Ji Xun's gentle smile, he would have thought Ji Xun was just this cold, arrogant, and aloof person. However, Wu Peng didn't care whether his new classmate smiled or not. He felt extremely lucky. Not only did he get to sleep with this celebrity, but he even trained next to him.
Didn't you see that many girls were looking in their direction? He was truly honored. The more Wu Peng thought about this, the softer his gaze towards Ji Xun became. Ji Xun felt a little strange in this strange atmosphere, especially when he saw the strange look Wu Peng was giving him. He deliberately moved away from him.
Mo Beibei, who had thought she'd have a good rest without any extra tasks that night, was disappointed again. Her roommates burst into laughter at her desperate state. Sure enough, students who had never participated in training were not as physically fit as those who had been tortured multiple times.
After all, there were at least two opportunities to participate in training, in middle school and high school. Perhaps, in middle school, there were more surprises and curiosity. But at their age and as college students whose edges had long been smoothed out by training, they didn't have much anticipation.
Fortunately, the evening training was still the same as the afternoon training. Then the instructors spread out a quilt and taught everyone how to fold tofu blocks. After the instructors explained the precautions, the students returned to the dormitory to tidy up their rooms.
Shang Qing was troubled by the idea of housekeeping. She didn't usually make her quilt. She always spread it on the bed, just as advertised. It was beautiful and convenient.
To ensure the collective honor of the dormitory, Shang Qing frowned and studied hard. But how could she possibly succeed? Looking at the limp, unrecognizable quilt, she sighed with a wistful expression.
