Chapter 510 Sand Sea 4
Chapter 510 Sand Sea 4
Director Wang was somewhat disappointed, but he didn't give up. He continued walking towards the other people, intending to find a way to catch up with them.
Zhang Chuzhen sat in the car looking at her hands. She was wearing a unique ring on the index finger of her left hand, and she was gazing at the exquisite patterns carved on it in a daze.
"Xiao Qi, where did the original owner get this ring?"
"It is the only memento left to her by her adoptive mother."
Zhang Chuzhen, who had initially thought there was more to the story, sighed that she had been overthinking it: "So, apart from being able to live forever, the original owner was really just like an ordinary person in every other way."
"Yes host."
"Fortunately, the original owner was quite vigilant, otherwise it would have been terrible if the secret had been discovered and there was no way to protect oneself."
"Yeah yeah."
*
After a while, Director Wang came back with a big smile on his face: "Let's go, let's go, we'll drive and follow them."
Zhang Chuzhen sat by the window, squinted at the bright sun outside, and took out a pair of sunglasses from her pocket and put them on.
Guozi, who was standing nearby, asked, "Chuzhen, didn't you bring any luggage?"
"I lost it." When the original owner felt she couldn't hold on any longer, she literally threw the things away.
She didn't even bother picking anything up when she arrived, since she had everything in her space anyway. She forgot to take a bag to pack her clothes when she left the space.
It's okay, she can just take a shower and change into the same clothes later.
"Oh? It's good that you met us, otherwise you wouldn't have lasted more than two days. It's too dangerous for you to be in the desert like this."
Zhang Chuzhen nodded, as if agreeing with her.
Guozi wanted to say a few more words, but Fu Mei, who was next to her, said, "Guozi, I want to sleep for a while."
What's the point of talking to a woman you don't know? Guozi is too naive. Who knows what she's doing in the desert?
"Oh, then you should go to sleep." Guozi quieted down.
Without having to speak to answer the question, Zhang Chuzhen silently gave Fu Mei, who had interrupted them, an appreciative look.
Fu Mei: What kind of look was that? It was weird.
Zhang Chuzhen: A look of approval.
The convoy drove for an entire afternoon before entering the desert region. Along the way, they passed a makeshift open-air camp where roasted whole lamb was offered.
Everyone decided to grab something to eat here; after a long day of travel, they were all starving.
Zhang Chuzhen was holding a piece of bread in her hand, which she hadn't eaten. It was given to her by Guozi in the car.
However, her body doesn't seem to get hungry easily, or perhaps it's used to being hungry, so she doesn't have much of an appetite.
After getting off the bus, the three groups each occupied a table. Zhang Chuzhen sat at a table with the filming crew, where beer and mutton were laid out.
She looked around, picked up a bottle of mineral water, casually unscrewed it, drank half of it, ate a few pieces of roasted lamb, and then stopped.
Inside the system space, Xiao Qi swallowed hard as she looked at the roasted mutton: "Host, you don't have much of an appetite?"
"Hmm, it looks greasy."
"It's not greasy, and it looks delicious. I want to eat it."
"If you want to eat it, you can go into my space and bake it yourself with Yunshang."
"Okay, okay, I'll go right away. I'll also save some for you, host, so you can eat it next time when your appetite is better."
"Mmm," Zhang Chuzhen responded softly.
"I heard your surname is Zhang? Which Zhang?" Wu Xie, who had been called over by Director Wang, sat down next to her without anyone noticing.
Knowing what he suspected, Zhang Chuzhen calmly replied, "Zhang with the bow and arrow."
Upon hearing this, Wu Xie stared at her expression and said, "What a coincidence, I have a friend whose surname is also Zhang."
"Oh," Zhang Chuzhen replied dismissively, showing little interest in what he was saying.
Unable to discern anything from her face, Wu Xie became even more convinced that this person's appearance was not a coincidence, but rather something was amiss.
He asked tentatively, "Aren't you afraid to be alone in the desert? Why haven't your friends come looking for you?"
Zhang Chuzhen did not answer the question about whether she was afraid: "Maybe we haven't found it yet."
Her quiet and aloof demeanor reminded Wu Xie of Xiao Ge, as they both shared the same surname, Zhang.
One is simply world-weary and uninterested, while the other is indifferent and taciturn.
He picked up his beer, took a big gulp, and then continued drinking quietly.
When Director Wang saw this, he patted him on the shoulder and said, "Teacher Guan, don't just drink, eat something."
"Okay, I'm eating."
Wu Xie had drunk quite a bit and seemed a little drunk. When he stood up, he tripped over a stool leg and immediately grabbed the table for support, but accidentally knocked over an unfinished beer bottle.
Zhang Chuzhen reacted quickly and moved her body away, preventing the beer from spilling on her legs.
Upon seeing this, Wu Xie's eyes quickly flashed with emotion before returning to normal. He then steadied the bottle and placed it down, saying, "Sorry, I lost my balance just now."
"It's nothing." Zhang Chuzhen knew he was deliberately testing her, but she didn't expose him.
Hearing the commotion, the people who were drinking and laughing all looked over.
Director Wang helped Wu Xie up: "What's wrong, Teacher Guan? Have you had too much to drink?"
"I can't hold my liquor very well. I suddenly stood up and felt a little dizzy, so I knocked over the bottle."
"It's alright, it's alright. Are you going back? Let me help you there."
"No need, you guys drink up, I'm fine now."
After exchanging a few pleasantries, Wu Xie returned to his own table, his gait not at all like that of a drunk person.
Zhang Chuzhen took the tissue that Sister Dan handed her, thanked her, and then wiped up the spilled wine on the table.
After eating and drinking their fill, everyone got back on the bus and continued their journey. Since they hadn't reached their destination yet, everyone spent the night in the bus.
The next afternoon, everyone finally found the place, which was an ancient city building standing in the desert.
They got off the bus and set up camp here. Zhang Chuzhen looked around and wandered aimlessly.
She turned her head to look when she felt someone tapping her.
Li Chu smiled at her while holding the camera, then immediately moved the lens away to take pictures of other things.
Zhang Chuzhen turned her gaze back into the tent. Guozi saw her and said, "You're back. It's good that you came over here."
She walked over and saw the small bags that the woman handed her, which contained disposable underwear.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome. You may not be able to change your clothes, but you can still change what's underneath."
Zhang Chuzhen did not refuse her kindness. She could secretly change her clothes, and there were more than one set of clothes in her space that were exactly the same as what she was wearing now.
After resting for a while, we heard the sounds of people talking together outside. Judging from the sounds, they must have found the entrance to Gutongjing.
Zhang Chuzhen knew that the palace below was not the ancient city of Tongjing, so he didn't go to join the crowd.
Finally, apart from the girls in the film crew and one of the women who followed Boss Ma named Lulu, everyone else went down.
Zhang Chuzhen sat outside with Guozi, eating and listening to their conversation. She simply ignored the occasional stares that were being watched from the shadows.
It's obvious without even thinking that Wu Xie had Hei Xiazi keep an eye on him.
