Chapter 208 The War Begins
Chapter 208 The War Begins
Ellie did not disappoint Agred's expectations. In a very short time, she gained Agred's approval and was formally accepted as his disciple. Agred then threw a pile of books containing magic records at Ellie and let her study on her own. After all, a master can only lead you to the door; the rest of the cultivation depends on the individual. If you hold a child's hand, the child will never learn to walk. After entering the sect, Agred simply let Ellie cultivate on her own. All he needed to do afterward was to check on Ellie's cultivation from time to time to ensure that she did not go astray and suffer from qi deviation.
After that, Tiga also contacted Agreed using the communication array that Agreed had prepared for him.
Tiga bowed respectfully to Agreed and said, "Master, the Oasis Forest army has arrived at the southern border. I have come here specifically to report to you and request your supervision of the battle."
Agreed said nonchalantly, "You can take command of everything. I trust your abilities. I'm going to take a nap. Don't bother me unless it's something serious. Communicate with me after we win the battle. Be careful, or I'll hold you responsible if we lose."
Tiga immediately made a pledge: "Tiga is willing to risk his life to guarantee you, sir, that we will surely win this battle."
"Alright! I'll await good news then." With that, Agreed disconnected the communication array and then fell into a deep sleep to digest the remaining divine power within his body.
Agred was not worried about his troops. Although the enemy was stronger than them in terms of raw power, they had the advantage of terrain, equipment and supplies, as well as real-time information and specially prepared traps. As long as they did not make any major mistakes, this battle was a sure win.
Moreover, Tiga is very intelligent, and Agreed is certain that under his leadership, the Dragon Tooth Tribe, the Dragon Horn Army, and the Lizardman Tribe will achieve absolute victory in their first battle.
Three days later, the main force of the Oasis Forest emerged from the dense primeval forest and stepped into the land of southern Xinjiang.
The Southern Frontier, having made preparations in advance, had already withdrawn its personnel from the border, which greatly surprised the enemy commander, the white giant lizard 'Rog'.
Looking at the deserted border, Roger muttered to himself, "No sentries, no obstruction, not even any defenses, and we've just marched straight into your land?! Tiga, you've really gotten old, you've become so stupid. It seems the Southern Frontier is destined to fall to our iron hooves, hahaha."
On the other side, Tiga and a group of monster generals were watching the video information transmitted by the spirit particles.
Tiga pointed to Roger in the video and said, "I know this white giant lizard with a scar on his face. His name is Roger. He is a traitor in my tribe. Back then, he led most of my tribe to join the Green Dragon. It seems that he is now the commander of the enemy army, but his command authority should not be very high. After all, those Green Dragons and Dragon Beasts will not obey his orders."
"Rogge's army is very brutal and reckless, posing little threat. What we really need to be wary of is the enemy's air force; the green dragons and those dragon beasts are far too troublesome."
Yorick interjected, "Actually, before our master went into slumber, he made a batch of dragon-hunting crossbow bolts for us. Those huge arrowheads were enchanted with extremely lethal magical properties. I can't say for sure that an adult green dragon would die if it was hit."
Tiga asked in surprise, "Master, you've even prepared such divine weapons for us. How many crossbow bolts do you have?"
Yorick replied, “There are over three hundred, but only twelve of them are large ballistae capable of firing them. If no one holds them back from the air, these dragon-hunting ballistae will be difficult to use.”
Otto stepped forward and volunteered, saying, "I can take the Chimera and the Manticore to hold off those dragons for now, but you green dragons will have to figure out your own way. I'm just a dragon and I don't have the ability to fight a group of adult green dragons."
At this moment, Warwick confidently said, "Leave the green dragon to me. Otto, you carry me up there. I can hold them off. Trust me."
Tiga nodded. His master had a high opinion of Warwick, and the monsters knew that Warwick was indeed their strongest fighter right now. If even he couldn't do it, then no one else could.
Tiga continued, "I will lead the lizardman army and Lord Pujin's troll tribe to garrison our Dragonfang City. We've emptied the nearby granaries and supplies. If those monsters don't want to survive by gnawing on tree bark in the Southern Frontier, attacking us is their only option. With the advantage of terrain, this battle will be much easier. Lord Minotaur, you will lead the Dragonhorn troops and my tribe's giant lizard legion to garrison the city, ready to launch a counterattack at any time. My tribe's chameleon troops will ambush the enemy in the nearby mountains and forests. Lord Yorick will lead the other troops and defend the city walls with me. That's the general strategy. Do you have any questions?"
Everyone answered in unison, "No."
Ultraman Tiga raised his arms and shouted, "Let us repay our master with a perfect victory! For our lord!!"
The others followed suit and shouted in unison, "For our Lord!"
As Tiga had anticipated, the enemy forces arrived a week later at a location fifty miles from Dragon Fang City.
Rogge's troops have been facing serious supply problems lately. Although the oasis forest is rich in resources, the troops have now entered the southern border region, and the monsters lack modern logistical support. Four days ago, they had already consumed all the rations they carried. Rogge's original plan was to plunder enemy supplies to sustain the war effort, but he never expected those bastards to be so ruthless. In the past few days, Rogge hasn't seen a single town of any value, let alone any supplies. His lizardmen are so hungry that they've started eating grass. Yesterday, to prevent internal strife, Rogge had to kill and eat some of the kobolds and gnolls traveling with him. If the food problem isn't solved soon, his own men will probably start killing each other before the battle even begins.
Fortunately, the southern border wasn't too large, and the green dragons soon brought good news to Rogge, telling him that there was a huge city not far away, and that they had spotted a large enemy force there.
Rogge was overjoyed and ordered his army to march toward Dragontooth City. He had no time to think about whether there was a trap or not, because if he didn't let his lizardmen have a taste of meat now, the battle might be over before it even started.
Standing on the city wall, Tiga looked at the scene transmitted by Lingzi and said with a cold smile, "Come on, come on, how much fighting power do you have left after traveling on an empty stomach? We have prepared a 'feast' for you to eat. Rogue, you better not disappoint me, otherwise I won't be able to explain to my master if I just make you retreat."
The excited Rogge and his army were unaware that what awaited them ahead... was hell!
