Chapter 230 Persuading Surrender
Chapter 230 Persuading Surrender
In the castle at the center of Brenda, the capital of the Drow elves
At this moment, Edith Evelyn, the matriarch of the first Drow family and the apparent ruler of the Drow, was sitting in the meeting hall with the matriarchs of other families, discussing matters related to dealing with Agred and his army.
Edith played with the 'Serpent Whip,' a weapon of evil power personally bestowed upon her by Rose. This was a reward she received as a 'servant of the Queen of Gods,' representing her status second only to the Goddess. This weapon granted her immortality and powerful spiritual energy, so she usually took extra care to maintain this divine gift.
After a brief silence, Edith suddenly said to herself, "The great Spider Queen is very dissatisfied with our performance."
All the clan matriarchs remained silent after hearing this. In the past week, Agred's monster army had almost swept through seventeen towns of the drow, and the drow had now lost most of their territory. It was clear that Edith had convened this clan meeting to hold them accountable.
This sudden question left all the housewives speechless. After all, Edith's cruelty was notorious, and these housewives had heard stories of her brutality since they were very young. Moreover, after they actually came into contact with Edith, they discovered a despairing fact: those stories were far too conservative.
They had witnessed Edith torture a mistress to death for offering advice, so under the pressure of fear, everyone chose to remain silent.
Upon seeing this, Edith frowned immediately, cracking the stone floor beneath her feet with a flick of her whip, and shouted, "Can't you hear me? Are you mute or deaf?!"
So one of the bolder matriarchs replied tremblingly, “Those monsters are far too powerful. Our army simply can’t handle them… Moreover, the Abyssal Hydralisks and Minos are already very powerful races. Normally, it takes dozens of people to hunt and kill just one or two. Now that they’ve joined forces, we simply can’t withstand them.”
Edith angrily lashed out with her whip, and with a crack, a bloody mark appeared on the faces of all the mistresses. Although they were in pain, they could only endure it in silence.
Edith continued to roar, "A bunch of useless trash, all you know is to boost the morale of others and diminish our own. Now we need a way to defeat the enemy. Does anyone have a brilliant plan? If you don't come up with a solution, then I'll sacrifice you to the Queen of the Gods. Anyway, there are plenty of candidates for the positions of the matriarchs of the various races."
A matriarch who appeared to be significantly older raised her hand and said, "We may need the help of those male Drow rebels from four hundred years ago. They are top-notch assassins and ambushes. Releasing them out could alleviate the gap in our current combat strength."
Edith rejected the idea, saying, "That's impossible. Those rebels have been transformed into spider monsters with spider bodies. If we release them, their first act will probably be to attack us. This would be like releasing dragons back into the mountains, which would cause endless trouble."
The matriarch continued, “No, we can entice them to fight for us by offering to restore their freedom and remove the curse from their bodies. As for whether these verbal promises can be fulfilled, we don’t need to consider that, because they will suffer heavy losses against those monster armies and won’t be able to cause any trouble. Even if we break the promise, they will have no way to complain.”
Edith listened to her analysis and considered it for a moment before finally agreeing, "Alright then, we do need some help now. Let these traitors redeem themselves this time. By the way, are all the dragon beasts we've been raising here ready?"
Another matriarch stood up, bowed, and said, "Everything is ready. A total of 127 dragon beasts are equipped with saddles and are ready to go into battle at any time."
Edith nodded and said, "Very good. Then all we can do next is wait for the enemy to cross the underground river and come to the other side of our Underdark to attack us. The underground river is the territory of the benthic demon fish. It will cost us an extremely high price to cross it. When that happens, we will wait in comfort and use Brenda's Absolute Defense Array to completely wipe out these filthy beasts!"
……
Three days later, Agreed arrived before their newly captured prisoners, guided by the Minotaur.
Agreed watched the spider-like drows before him with great interest. This was the first time he had seen such creations cursed by a higher-dimensional being. These spider-like drows were the male drows Edith had sent to assassinate the Dragonhorn Squad. Before being transformed into monsters, they were spies and wizards. One was the top assassin in the Underdark, and the other was the highest status that male elves in the Underdark could attain. This meant that these male drows could actually be considered the most troublesome enemies in the Underdark. But unfortunately, they were unaware that something called 'spiritual particles' existed in this world.
Although the Maze had blocked information from within Brenda, Agred wasn't blind. It was obvious what a large group of monsters leaving Brenda were up to. With the complete overwhelming power of information technology, Agred's army captured them effortlessly.
Assassins are most afraid of being overwhelmed by information, and unfortunately for them, they have met their nemesis.
Agred looked down at the drow elves below and muttered to himself, "This is quite a sight. I thought that with the educational restrictions in place, male drow wouldn't be able to produce any decent strongmen anymore, but I didn't expect to find you guys who have surprised me, even though you don't look like elves anymore. However, I don't quite understand why you would serve those who enslave you."
The leading male drow, Roland, said resignedly, "Because we have no choice. Kill us, mighty dragon. To die at your hands may be the only good thing in my life."
Agreed laughed heartily, "I like you, little guy. You've got guts. Very well, then I'll give you a better option." With that, Agreed activated the eleventh-tier super-class magic 'Ultimate Purification,' instantly removing the curse from all the spider-like drow and restoring them to their original dark elf appearance.
All the male drow touched their bodies, which had returned to normal, in disbelief. They hugged each other excitedly and wept with joy. It seemed that regaining their human form was probably their greatest wish in this life. At the right moment, Agred coughed lightly to signal his presence to the male drow.
Roland, the leader, immediately understood and knelt down on the ground, piously bowing and saying, "Great Dragon God, thank you for saving us from suffering. We are willing to go through fire and water for you."
Agreed looked at Roland's teachable expression and continued, "It seems you've accepted the choice I gave you. Very well, then tell us about the specific situation in Brenda so we can have a concrete battle plan for there."
