Chapter 166 Praise for the Light
Chapter 166 Praise for the Light
Everyone was stunned by this sudden blow.
It was not until a god-favored person in a white robe walked up to Lilith and put his hand on her that Lilith finally reacted and looked at the person.
The one favored by God closed her eyes and chanted devoutly. A magic circle flashing with yellow light lit up under her feet. The wounds left by Lilith in the battle now felt warm and slightly itchy.
The light faded, and Lulu cried out in surprise. Lilith looked down and saw that the huge wound on Lucas' chest had healed as before and was now rising and falling smoothly.
"...Thank you." Lilith touched the skin at the hole in her clothes and thanked her.
The lady just glanced at her, as if puzzled by her disrespect for thanking the gods, but said nothing and quietly retreated.
Lilith followed her figure and looked towards the gate. The knights in gold and white armor looked like heroes from a story. The gold trim shone brightly in the sun, showing nobility and glory, while the white part was as pure as snow, exuding a holy aura.
The leader wore a helmet with small wings cast on it, revealing only a pair of firm and sharp eyes. He fixed his gaze on Catherine and walked towards them with big strides.
"Your Highness." The knight bowed solemnly.
They were not ignorant common people from the countryside. They knew at a glance what the dazzling silver hair meant. It was the symbol of the Bishep family, and the only female Bishep who could walk around in the open was the crown prince.
Catherine looked at the motionless harpy and Adams who was staring at the corpse in a daze, sighed inwardly, and turned to face the knight.
"Shouldn't you be in Highgarden by now?" She looked at the hooded, silent God-loved ones behind him.
"Yes, we were delayed for some time." The knight just responded without explaining in detail, and he was too lazy to even find an excuse. Although the Knights of Light were the sword held by the Empire and the Church, they only obeyed the King and the Pope and did not need to report their whereabouts to the princess.
Catherine nodded and sensibly didn't ask any more questions.
"Eh? What happened?" Lucas finally woke up slowly, looking at the classmates around him with a confused face, and then suddenly startled, "Ah, my baby!"
He raised his hand and saw the Cobra Lily still tightly held in his hand, and finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"...You will die sooner or later!" Lulu glared at him speechlessly.
"Where is that beautiful lady?" Lucas was still a little confused. His memory disappeared when he was invited into the backyard of Adams' house.
Everyone was speechless for a moment.
There was a sudden commotion outside the door, and a group of people rushed into Adams' house carrying various farm tools and iron tools.
"Oh my God! It really is the harpy. She is indeed a knowledgeable Knight of Light!" As soon as everyone came in and saw the monster that was no longer moving, they immediately praised the God of Light and the Knights, thanking them for their help.
"...What's going on? Isn't this our credit?" Sean asked quietly with a confused look on his face. Lilith had clearly subdued the harpy before the Knights arrived.
But these guys just kept on bowing and paying homage to the Knights of Light and the God's Favored Ones, pretending to be aloof and not explaining at all.
"Adams! How come this thing is in your house?" The old pastor finally caught up with the main force and was shocked when he saw the scene in front of him.
When the harpy died, Adams seemed to have been greatly shocked. He curled up beside the corpse and didn't move, like a rotten tree root. He was unaware of the sounds from the outside world.
"Please be careful, Princess. This creature is extremely cunning and may fake its own death and escape."
The knight stood in front of the princess and waved his hand to the one favored by God.
Another one of God's chosen ones stepped forward. Catherine felt the temperature around her suddenly rise. Before she could speak out to stop it, the exploding fire had already hit the harpy. The fire instantly engulfed the corpse on the ground and melted the ice cones summoned by Lilith on the ground, making a hissing sound, like water boiling.
"Oh, praise the God of Light!" Raging flames shot up into the sky. When the townspeople saw this scene, they raised their sickles and axes and cheered excitedly.
Lilith looked at these fanatical believers and felt a chill in her chest. She couldn't help but wonder if they had also stood in front of the burning witch and cheered like this in the past.
She looked at Adams, whose lips were trembling as he was pulled away from the fire by the Knight of Light, and couldn't help but sigh.
Although Lilith does not believe in fate, she does believe in the theory of cause and effect. Is everything that the fire station is experiencing now the result of the cause and effect back then?
Lilith was not the only one who thought so. Catherine was closer to the fire and felt very complicated as the heat wave hit her. Her eyes showed compassion for her fellow human beings.
The smell of burning was brought by the cold wind. Catherine looked at the tragic scene in front of her and the happy smiles of the people around her, and felt an unusual disconnect. She took a few steps back, her chest churning, and she felt like vomiting.
"Let's go." Catherine walked towards Lilith. Since Lucas was fine, she didn't want to stay here any longer.
“Princess, do you need our escort—” The leading knight followed again.
However, Catherine seemed not to have heard it. She just took out the slug flower neatly and crushed it in her palm.
With a flash of blue light, the cold princess disappeared from the sight of the Knight of Light, leaving the others and the knight staring at each other.
The knight was startled, then he understood, it turned out to be a trick of Goletia Academy.
Daniel stood there in a daze. As Catherine's guardian, he was just abandoned like that?
"Hurry up and get up, Lucas. We're leaving too." Lilith urged Lucas who was sitting on the ground. It was almost dark, and if they went back now, maybe they could get Bella's dinner.
"Ah? Oh oh oh!" Lucas hurriedly climbed up, stuffed everything in his hand into Lilith's hands, then grabbed Lilith's wrist, and called Ian to join in.
Ian took one last look at the dazzling gold and white armor, turned his head, and also hooked up with Lilith.
After a few soft sounds of bubbles bursting, the group of people from Goletia College gradually disappeared from everyone's sight.
"I've heard before that the princess was disrespectful to the church, but now it seems...she is determined to stay in Goletia." Another knight slowly walked up to the commander and sighed.
The Knight Commander nodded. The problem here had been solved. They did not stay any longer. They said hello to the priest and disappeared from everyone's sight as quickly as they came.
"Oh Adams, how could you be confused by something like this?" A townsman looked at the twisted and charred corpse, vaguely able to make out the strange eagle claws, and exclaimed in amazement.
"Haha, with his current appearance, is he still qualified to choose a wife?" Other people who were curious came over and laughed loudly in front of Adams.
"……Yes."
Adams looked at the unrecognizable person beside him and tried hard to control the trembling of his lips.
"She confused me... I never thought of her, that she would be a monster. Fortunately, there is the Knights of Light."
"Praise the light."
