Chapter 309-Awakening
Chapter 309-Awakening
The gargoyle entangled most of the void beasts, but a few still slipped through its defense line and forced Lilith and her group to the edge of the hill behind the mill.
"They are too fast..." Ian's face was pale, and the wound on his arm was so deep that the bone was visible. Not only him, but everyone now had scars of varying sizes.
Although there were quite a few people in their group, the void beasts were obviously more interested in Lilith behind him, and they kept tearing apart the defense line on their side.
Lilith looked up into the air while holding up the shield. The gargoyle entangled by several monsters staggered into the air. From a distance, it looked like a weird and twisted behemoth. Suddenly, a thick and long spear of light pierced through the one that was biting its wing.
The gargoyle took out a nearly two-meter-long light spear from somewhere and pierced through one of the monsters in front of it.
It even has magic... Lilith was shocked by the sound of the monster's wailing and falling.
At present, the fighting power of the gargoyles is obviously superior to these young students. They must hold on. As long as they hold on, they can wait for the support of the gargoyles...
Lilith gritted her teeth and said, "Hold on a little longer until we find—"
Suddenly there was a scream. When Jaina's guardian tried to stop the monster's attack, the monster's blood splashed into his eyes. The severe pain and loss of vision made him lose his composure. He swung his sword forward for a while, but the monster still caught the opportunity. It bit his leg and dragged him to the ground. There was a crisp sound, and his leg was broken.
"Gardner!!" Jaina quickly shot sharp icicles at the monster, forcing it back a few steps.
"Jaina, wait!" Lucas shouted and ran over, but it was too late -
Jaina was eager to rescue her partner and tried to drag her fallen partner backwards, but the monster had already turned around and took advantage of the gap when Jaina turned her head and exposed her back to it, and pounced on her like lightning and bit Jaina's shoulder!
Severe pain immediately spread from her shoulder. Jaina was in so much pain that she couldn't even make a sound. Her body was suddenly pulled away from Gardner. Almost subconsciously, she looked blankly in the direction of Lilith...
Lilith heard Lucas's cry in the gap between the attacks. She turned her head and met Jaina's desperate eyes. She was bitten on the back of the neck by the monster and had almost no strength to struggle. She was being quickly dragged into the bushes behind by the huge creature.
"Jaina!"
Lilith could no longer care about the danger in front of her. She bent down to avoid the monster that was flying towards her. The fire blade slid down and went through the monster's chest and abdomen. The splashing blood dripped on her head. She clearly heard the hissing sound coming from her ears, but Lilith did not stop. She almost crawled towards Jaina using her hands and feet.
She leaped up suddenly, turned over and rode on the monster, inserted the sword horizontally into its neck, then gripped the hilt and twisted it hard!
"Squeak!" The monster felt so much pain that its mouthparts that were biting Jaina's shoulders and neck finally loosened. It swung its head and hind legs wildly, trying to throw the person off, but Lilith refused to let go. She tightened her legs and clamped them tightly on the monster's slippery body, even though its blood soaked into her clothes and made her legs burn, she refused to let go.
With a "crack", Lilith's cold steel finally broke the monster's neck, and its huge body collapsed. But Lilith still didn't dare to relax. She chanted while enduring the severe pain all over her body, and wrapped the monster's body with thorns again. Countless caltrops stretched out from the bushes, pierced the monster's body, and tied it to the ground completely.
Lilith heaved a sigh of relief and used her sword to support herself on the ground, trying to stand up. The moment she raised her head, her body trembled violently.
The dead monster had crushed a large area of winter shrubs, which were now being taken over by the suddenly sprouting thorns. Many dry shrubs were pushed out of the ground and fell to the ground. Among the crooked and collapsed shrubs, she suddenly saw a hand soaked in a pool of blood. On that hand was the ring she had given her.
With a clang, Lilith's sword fell to the ground. The flame flickered and struggled, but it still disappeared in the dirty ice and snow.
"Roar--" A roar was heard, and the gargoyle killed another monster and threw the monster down from the air. It looked in the direction of Lilith and let out a warning roar.
In the shadow of the bushes, a monster crouched very low and moved silently towards the dazed Lilith. Finally, when it was only a few meters away from her, it suddenly jumped off the ground and pounced towards her!
“Lilith——!”
Lilith was in a trance when she heard a familiar cry. The smell of blood was all around her, human and monster mixed together. Her brain was almost unable to think, and she just stared blankly at the pale hand sticking out from the bushes.
A gust of wind suddenly blew up, carrying all the floating snow around. The broken snow mixed with her golden hair and lashed her face like a whip, shattering her self-righteousness with each lash.
“Lilith!!” Catherine’s eyes widened as she looked at her usually clever and alert companion who was now standing there like a log, exposing her vulnerable back to the Void Beast that leaped into the air. For the first time, she felt fear towards these monsters and reached out her hand regardless.
The wind elements gathered together with a roar, and everyone present felt as if the air around them had been sucked into a vacuum at a certain moment. The Void Beast that had leaped into the air suddenly froze, as if someone had forcibly pressed the pause button. It dug twice in vain, and saw the human under it looking up at it.
Lilith raised her head in the strong wind. She only felt a sense of tiredness and emptiness at the moment. The monster nailed in the air in front of her even made her feel a little funny. The whirlwind escalated from under her feet and formed a thin tornado in just one second. The monster was turned by the wind and turned upside down in the air. However, the next second, it was completely crushed in the hurricane.
Blood and flesh fell down all over the sky and hit Lilith in front of her. She looked through the blood rain and saw a silver-haired girl on the black horse that was spewing white mist, looking in her direction. Her silver hair, like moonlight, was floating strangely at this moment, and she was looking at her from a distance across the blood rain.
"Catherine..." Lilith moved her mouth, but no sound came out.
The team behind Catherine passed her and ran towards Lilith and her group. Guardians holding swords led the way and provided cover. The magicians kept chanting. They cooperated well and the situation was reversed almost immediately. Gargoyles fell from the air and cooperated with these people to kill the surviving Void Beasts on the ground one by one.
"Your Highness..." The black-armored knight who had been guarding behind Catherine seemed to have noticed something. He rode his horse around to Catherine's front and looked at his own princess in disbelief. "...You have awakened?"
Catherine did not speak, still looking forward, but the knight could clearly see that the princess's silver-gray pupils were like the crescent moon at this moment——
It has become a vertical pupil.
