Chapter 343 But She Can't
Chapter 343 But She Can't
The Pathless Forest was merely the outer barrier of the Elf Forest. The giant tree seemed to be within reach, and if she looked at it for too long, she would have the illusion that it was falling towards her.
But after Lilith wiped away her inexplicable tears and followed Cynthia for a while, she found that the distance between them and the World Tree could not be measured by feet. They were clearly still very far away.
"Can't we ride on a griffin anymore?" Lilith asked.
"Those are griffins that nest in the Western Highlands. They won't intrude into the territories of other griffin groups, and brooms won't work here either." Cynthia explained, and pulled up Canion who was almost tripped by a tree root.
All the restraints on him had been removed. Anyway, this guy couldn't run at all and had nowhere to run.
"But there must be some shortcut, right?" Lilith glanced at the delicate young master, turned her head to the right and said -
"do you think so?"
"Who are you asking?" Catherine tapped the cocklebur hanging on her trouser leg on Catherine's left hand.
"Him." Lilith pointed to the right again.
Catherine looked around in surprise, but there was clearly nothing——
"Wow!"
The shadow of a nearby tree shook, and a green shadow suddenly leaped backwards.
An elf!
Catherine was startled, and before she could react, she saw Lilith rushing out as well.
"Lilith!"
Catherine was horrified. This was the Pathless Forest! If it was a trap to lure her, she would most likely be lost in this forest forever.
However, Lilith had only been chasing for a few steps when she saw the shadow of the tree in front of her suddenly twist and shake, as if it were alive and was coming towards her!
What kind of magic is this? Lilith marveled as she leaped backwards, relying on her agility.
The figure, hiding behind clothes and the shadows of trees, slowly approached them, then made a few leaps between the trees and disappeared.
"Hey, why are you running so fast?" Lilith complained and turned back, "The forest road is too difficult to walk on, maybe we can try to light a fire?"
"Tuk Tuk Tuk!"
Lilith retreated while raising her wooden shield. Three sharp arrows pierced deeply into Lilith's shield, which was still shaking.
Tsk, these elves really can't resist provocation. They get anxious as soon as I tell them to set the mountain on fire. Lilith sighed as she hid behind her shield.
"I know you are watching us, and we mean no harm." Cynthia shouted.
"We are here to bring back an elf that was lost outside." Cynthia pulled Kanion over.
"A royal elf!"
Lilith felt that the atmosphere hidden in the darkness around her suddenly changed, and some whispers came into her ears.
"Leave him to us."
There was a sound coming from a big tree near them. Lilith looked up and saw a green elf leaping to the treetop at some point. The lower half of her face was covered, and she looked at them with scrutiny in her eyes.
There were rustling sounds one after another. Lilith turned around again and was shocked to find that the surrounding trees were now full of elves in similar clothing. Many of them had their bowstrings fully drawn, with their crosshairs pointed in the direction of Cynthia.
"No." Cynthia refused flatly.
"This is my child." Cynthia held Kanien's arm tightly. The latter cooperated for a rare time and said nothing. Catherine guessed that he must have been frightened by seeing so many arrows aimed at him.
"——I must personally hand him over to someone I can trust!" Cynthia insisted.
"...Witch." The first person to speak seemed to be the leader of this team. She looked Cynthia up and down with a piercing gaze, "The elf you gave birth to?"
There were crowds of people around, and they seemed to be shocked by the news.
"Where is your husband?" The elf leader still didn't believe it. Elves are loyal, so how could they abandon their partners and children? !
"I don't have an elf partner." Cynthia explained, "My child has regressed and turned into a pure-blooded elf. He is still young and needs the protection of the tribe. I can't do anything about it, but I must personally confirm whether you can take good care of him."
The green elf jumped down from the tree, walked up to Lilith and her group, looked at Kanien seriously, and pulled his ears, as if to check whether this was a trick played by the witch and humans.
"You can go to the Elf Forest." She finally relented.
"But she can't."
The elf pointed at Lilith, and all the drawn bows moved slowly, aiming at the head of the only human.
