Chapter 502 Don’t die
Chapter 502 Don’t die
Woody didn't understand why he was here.
He had been incredibly diligent over the past few years, responding to every mission immediately. He had braved the dirtiest and most remote swamps and forests, apprehended the most vicious criminals, and performed all the menial tasks assigned by his superiors, even washing their socks and underwear. He never dared to ask for leave, working year-round. He had thought he'd finally be promoted to squad leader this year, but after several rotations, he was reassigned to a dark, damp dungeon.
Woody was very frustrated and couldn't understand why. He mustered up the courage to go to his superior and ask him the reason.
The officer squatted in the cell with a sullen face, telling him to think for himself and not to bother him except when delivering food! If he had known what the princess was thinking, he wouldn't have been locked up! This wooden-headed country bumpkin is really annoying!
But today, the doubts that have been bothering Woody for many days were answered.
The Knights of Light who were joking across the wall in the prison suddenly became quiet. There was no sound in the prison. When Woody came to his senses from his deep thoughts and noticed something was wrong, he felt a chill on his neck as soon as he moved. He turned his head and met a pair of red vertical pupils hanging upside down from the top of his head, and an inhuman face!
—Aliens are attacking?! Woody's pupils constricted. He reached for his waist, but instead of his sword, he found the huge bunch of prison keys.
"Woody." Before he could react, a voice appeared.
"...Your Highness?" Woody certainly recognized this important person. She seemed to have rushed all the way here and was barely able to catch her breath. After calling his name, she swallowed hard, trying to soothe her dry throat.
"you--"
"Lilith needs your help, Woody." Catherine's voice was filled with sincere temptation.
…………
"That's it."
Although Metternich didn't understand why the other party was suddenly seriously injured like this, he didn't care. Under the gaze of everyone, the tall knight held the hilt of the sword with both hands and pointed it upwards. Below the tip of the sword was the girl who had taken off her helmet. Her golden hair was loose, which made her look even more miserable. Some people couldn't bear to watch it, while others were even more excited.
"Kill her! Kill her!" Someone's eyes turned red with excitement when he thought of the bet he had made.
"Why hasn't Catherine come back yet? You really order that child around." King George felt deeply sorry that Catherine could not witness this moment in person. He even wanted to order Metternich to wait and chop off his good niece's head after she came back.
King George's sudden words made Tseringni's expression awkward for a moment. She didn't know how to answer and simply ignored the king's question. Fortunately, the other party had long been accustomed to her attitude and regarded her silence as speechless anger.
"Kill her! Kill her!"
People in the city center were still unaware of the riot at the east gate. They only knew that the balance of victory in the duel field had finally tilted significantly. The air was filled with layers of dust because of the restless crowd, and every grain of dust rolled in the beam of light, as if joining in the carnival.
Lucas's face turned pale. Lyrael hadn't been rescued yet. Was Lilith going to die here first? No, it couldn't be!
The tip of the sword finally came down heavily amidst rhythmic cheers, and Lulu screamed in terror—"Lilith! Stand up quickly!"
Her tears flowed uncontrollably.
Through tearful eyes, Lulu saw Lilith struggling and rolling to avoid the broadsword that was slashing towards her neck. She moved on the floor, looking extremely embarrassed, but her opponent Metternich knew how troublesome such a nimble person could be.
"Oh—!" the crowd cried out again! As Lilith spun on the floor, she slashed at the enemy's kneecap, where only the leather armor and ropes connecting the leg armor remained. Blood spurted out, and the lower half of the enemy's armor began to fall apart.
The stench of brass in the air grew stronger. Lilith could smell it more clearly now that she was not wearing a helmet. She stood up with her sword in hand and sneered at the opposite side.
This made Metternich even more irritated. Blood was gushing from his leg, but his voice remained unchanged. "Isn't that ridiculous? You think you're fighting for justice?"
He glanced at the two people pinned to the gallows, threw aside the loose leg armor that was in the way, and slammed it against the wooden board with a clang. "The winner represents justice."
The man roared and charged again. This time, his attack was even more violent, his broadsword swung like a whirlwind, forcing Lilith to retreat repeatedly. Although she looked embarrassed, she managed to dodge each time. Finally, when his powerful vertical chop missed, she seized the opportunity.
The rapier pierced out like lightning, striking the gap in Metternich's armor. He groaned and stumbled back, blood oozing from the mail under his armpits.
The crowd burst into exclamations.
"It seems I underestimated you." A gloomy voice came from the armor covering the face.
Lilith didn't answer, but just gently shook off the blood foam on the sword. Inside the armor, she felt the heat surging from her heart soaking all her clothes. The inside became sticky and heavy, and her vision became black. She really didn't have the extra energy to talk nonsense with the other party.
—It hurts so much, Lyrael, please don’t die.
………………
"Click, click, click."
Deep in the dungeon, three keys were inserted into the ring keyholes one by one and then began to turn on their own under the gaze of everyone. Catherine felt the hairs on her neck stand up. She carefully felt the changes in the elemental power around her, fearing that the defense array would be triggered by magical fluctuations. The lizardmen next to her did the same, their forked tongues constantly swallowing and sniffing the surrounding air.
Woody's face was paler than the scales of the white lizard. He could sense that he must have made some extraordinary decision. His mind was in a mess. When he saw the door was open, he was about to say something when he felt a pain in the back of his neck and lost consciousness.
"Don't kill him." Catherine whispered and was the first to go in.
Then he let out an unbearable retching sound.
It stinks, it stinks so much, a hundred times stinkier than King George.
They found the right place.
